You can't expect a verbal debate, especially one with this format, to be as logically as a written one.

That being said, this is funny to watch.

And Bush just blanked for a few seconds. Beautiful!

Kerry's style is certainly polished, but he's stumbling all over the place where he should, at this point, be totally bitchslapping Bush. Neither is he successfully blunting Bush's repetitious bullshit about his record and his statements.

And now he's invoking Vietnam again. Kerry leans on it like a crutch, and he really should not have to do so; not with the mess Georgie the Wonder Chimp's made of everything.

And here's Bush laying back on the "Kerry the Flipflopper" line and Kerry not stomping him down on it.

ROFL, yes yes, must stay on course even when you don't have the proof behind the war in Iraq.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Ok, this 30 second shit is dumb. They're using the damn thing for every question. Just extend the damn times.....
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

So you want a veteran of the Vietnam War to talk about wartime casualties without talking about his own experience?

One thing that's really surprised me; Bush is the details guy tonight, Kerry is more vague. It's like the opposite of the first 2000 debate.

Is anyone but me finding the whole idea of a stoplight system irritating?

And it's great how Bush stumbles for the first few seconds every time he tries to respond. He looks fine when he gets going, but during that little 'rev-up' time, his verbal skills are rather blatantly lacking compared to Kerry.

He says Alowhe's name like a fucking mantra, not just in this debate. Yes, he's not a puppet. Yes, he's brave, hiding in seclusion with a SEAL team.

Bush made Iraq a player in the war on terror

Bush is exactly the same as he was in 2000. I don't know what debates you're watching.

They wanted to assign mercs, but no one wanted the job saying it was impossible so they assigned a SEAL team to him. He lives in seclusion in an undisclosed location in Iraq.

The problem here is that all Bush is doing is repeating the same thing over and over again, memorized some quotes and soundbytes, and calling Kerry a flip-flopper. It's like watching a carefully coached twelve year old in an interview. I'm not trying to insult him, but that's exactly what he sounds like; he's not debating, he's regurgitating what his advisors told him to say over and over. Kerry isn't doing that, he's actually debating alright, in his own Kerry sort of way.

Oh, Mr. President... "speaking clearly"? Coming from a man who seems to be incapable of saying "doesn't it?", but instead says "dunnit?"

Ouch. And Kerry brings up Saddam != Osama again.

And then talks about 'outsourcing to Afghan warlords'. Huh?
