Okay, you little Valve shitheads. I went out and bought the retail box of a /single fucking player game/ that I will, shockingly enough, not be playing multiplayer. What the holy flying FUCK are you even involving your half-baked excuse for an online service for? GET THE FUCK OFF MY COMPUTER AND GIVE ME MY FUCKING SINGLE-PLAYER GAME, TESTES-MASHERS!

Okay, I have the game and after about a hour I have everything installed and unlocked for HL2, CS:S, and HL:S. I was pissed but, since reading this forum it seems like that is a lot shorter than some of you, and I only have a 56k, so...
I click play half-life 2, and now for the past 3 minutes and while i have been typing I have been getting a fucking message that says preparing to play half-life 2...
I somewhat understand the point of steam for a multiplayer game such as counterstrike, but for a godamn single player game it is just ludicrous.

Well, after a couple hours of frustration I FINALLY got it to work and I've been playing it for the last couple hours. I just wanted to take a quick break to say..... it totally kicks ass!!!!!

No, its called server overload. Its not an uncommon thing for big games coming out.

So, I finally got it to work. Up to Ravenholm now.
Anyways, there was a part in the tunnels near the beginning. I was fighting some Combine and had finished them off, as well as a couple Manhacks. But, I still hear one of the fuckers buzzing around... I frantically look everywhere, but I can't see it. Then... I look down.
See the blue dot? That's the Manhack's optic.
It was
pinned!
God damn, I love this game.

Damn it... I'm stuck. No way there's walkthroughs out yet, but I've spent the last half hour trying to get to the damn third generator in the Combine control building, Barney and three rebels in tow...

Have you gotten the one behind the trap filled room or the one after the room where the combine seal you in?

Steam does no recognize that I'm connected to the internet... I did never steal a game but I will give the DVD back and download a cracked version as soon as it is avaliable.

I got the unprotected one and the one behind the ambush room, the last one goes through that mega-trap room with all the red laser trips, problem is the door is closed and I don't know how to get it open.

Navigate your way over, under, and through the lasers. There's a clear path; it becomes obvious to you pretty quickly. You hit some switch near the end to deactivate all the lasers, then you go blow up the generator.

I assume you've made sure that your firewall isn't blocking it or something silly like that?
I don't really see the point in downloading a pirate version, you're likely going to miss out on a host of updates and extras.

I know the source of the problem, it's my ISP which blocks a large number of ports. I had the choice between a 56k access or this "crippled" interent access with 11Mbit/s. I don't play multiplayer online(only Lan) so the chocie was not hard(I also never had a problem before...).

That's not the problem. I can't get in the bloody room. The bloody door is closed.

Took me easily over an hour, but my copy of Nexus came in that day too, and I'd installed that first. So I just went around smashing warships to ruin while I waited
Cracked up laughing when I ran into a certain rent-a-cop
