I'd like to stick with Prius Ristani, though he can be reassigned, have his unit gloriously butchered, or be confiscated for the service of whatever Inquisitor happens to wander into his neighborhood.
Description- Seemingly miscast for a Commissar, Prius Ristani is a physically unimpressive man. Somewhat short, he has the slightest of paunches that indicates a figure that only stays trim with intensive PT. The slight softness of his appearance is belied by the coldness of his dark eyes, which peer out at the world with the unsettlingly piercing gaze of a true psychopath. His hair is neatly shaved away from his scalp, and when he is unable to keep up his grooming, gold-brown stubble will peek out.
Weapons and equipment- Chainsword and flashlight... er... laspistol. Standard Guard field kit, Imperial prayer book, and Imperial aquila worn around the neck that he fiddles with during idle moments.

Sgt. Miles Jaerdn
1st Squad, 3rd Platoon, 1st Company Briar Huntsmen
Taking command of his squad when his first operation cost host of their lives, Sgt. Jaerdn had lived through hell on Kaerda VI and is hateful of anything chaos. Being an avid hunter, as is the majority of the populus of Briar, the Seargent and his squad are quite capable of stealth activities.
Gear: Helmet with vox link, flak armor lined long coat, leather riding boots, power rapier, plasma pistol.
Trooper T. Fihnigaen: Comms- flak armor, lasgun, voxgear.
Trooper A. Renalt: Point/Marksmen: Lasgun, Auspex, flak armor
Trooper J. Smit: Support: Flamer, autopistol, flak armor
Trooper C. Baykr: Demo: Melta bombs, lasgun, flak armor.
2nd team
Corporal M. Luiston: Team Leader: Lasgun, Vox link, flak armor.
Trooper L. Marcs: Comms
Trooper R. Rian: Point/Marksmen
Trooper F. MicDugen: Support: Grenade Launcher
Trooper B. Feer: Demo.
Standard kit also as appears in the Imperial Infantrymen's Uplifting Primer.
Flak armor and uniform is the same style as Jaerdn's. Additionally, each trooper has a camo cloak for when stealth manuevers are required. I'm hoping the sqaud can get clamshell armor should the need arise.

They have a medium-sized ship (the
Stellar Concord) which has been extensively modified for Inquisitorial duties. (Note: All Ordo Malleus)
Inquisitor Davik Kruger- Has a Bolter, a Psycannon and a chainsword.
A long inquisitoreal career fighting Daemons has softened Kruger's outlook on aliens and the like; He labels himself as a moderate. Sees a younger, more idealistic version of himself in Pater Sin. A natural leader.
Interrogator Pater Novum (Apprentice)- Has a robotic right arm, force staff, and laspistol.
The strong, silent type. Only really opens up among people he already knows. Has a fascination for technology, and is friends with Techpriest Xyng.
Shaper Mallok and 7 Kroot, 2 Kroot Hounds (Armed with the usual stuff)
Mallok and his kindred have been working for Kruger since the Atribes IV incident. They seem good at what they do.
Sgt. Slate (Has powersword and Meltabombs) and 9 Storm Troopers
Whataever Storm Troopers are usually armed with, with 2 of the squad having Grenade Launchers.
Long-time followers of Kruger since the insurrection on Tophor Secundus. Like to crack dirty jokes.
Techpriest Gyllia Xyng
She has Mechadendrites, one of those axe things and a MIU linking her to a number of Servo-skulls and Servitors she uses in combat and around the ship.
In many ways a typical techpriest, Gyllia is in a constant state of desperation about the condition of the
Concord. Has a friendship with Pater Novum due to their mutual love of technology.
Astropath- Who cares? It's not like he'll be doing much.
Sorry about the incompleteness of the descriptions and stuff, but I like to work my chars out as we go. As you can probably guess, the Servitors and Storm Troopers are mainly cannonfodder.

by consequences
NL, the intro, without flattery, rocked. Now you just have to maintain that same standard throughout.
I'll be creating retinue first, and may never get around to the leader.
Skorn Grotcrusher
Squat Male, age 230
"Let them come! One of the Ironbeard Clan still draws breath!"
Gear: Power armor(squat sized), master crafted bolt pistol, power axe, frag/krak/plasma grenades, Book of Grudge, refractor field.
One of the last remaining Squats, and like a number of the survivors, has chosen the path of the Gant-Slayer, choosing to throw himself repeatedly against foes until he meets his death, so as to purge the dishonor of not dying with his brethren. Considered useful by Imperial authorities, as his hatred of Tyranids is absolute, and bleeds over to Chaos and Orks. Carries a Book of Grudge, with a copy safely stored, in which he has written the names of all Squats known to have fallen to the Nids, his sole non-combat hobby is finding more names to add to the compilation, so that none of the Squats will have died unforgotten.
Chapel
Human(technically) Male age 34
"Entering the structure *BlamBlamBlamBlamBlam!* hostiles neutralised"
Gear: needle pistol, master crafted plama pistol, two bolt pistols, Vindicarre sniper rifle, Chameleoline bodysuit, specialty ammo depending upon assignment
Member of a sub-school of the Vindicarre Assassins, that believes that it is not always possible to gain victory with one flawless shot, because the target is often a cowardly heretic who refuses to leave his bunker regardless of how safe it looks outside. Sometimes multiple exquisite stab wounds from surprise are insufficient, and occasionally the pure brute slaughter of an Eversor is not wanted, and for the reason the Grammaton sect of the Vindicarre assassins exists. Chapel does not chat, he does not socialise, his sole purpose is the destruction of those oredered by his superiors. Any rumors of a large stash of kinky Eldar porn in his possession are entirely without merit.
More as I come up with it, and think of other sources to rip off.

Hmmm... this looks interesting, although I don't know if I'll be able to keep up (these things have a habit of getting away from me). Anyway I'll give it a shot. I assume we'll be writing up the results of our own actions with NecronLord giving directions?
(Great intro, btw)
Anyway, my chracter concept:
Inquisitor Raul Adivan: Ordo Malleus (or whoever the guys that hunt demons are - I don't remember all the names of the Inquisitorial departments. Must have a look for some of the novels covering the Inquisition...)
Gender: Male.
Height: 176 cm.
Mass: 90kg.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Hair: Very short, bright red.
Skin: Bone-white.
Distinguishing marks: None.
While in training as an Inquisitor, Raul often seemed to be less focussed on the task at hand than he should be, yet his achievements still matched those of his fellows. It was some time before it was diuscovered that this was a manifestation of his only psychic talent, which took the form of an uncannily accurate form of short-term precognition. With training, he learnt to consciously control this power and his ability to predict the next thirty seconds or so is virtually perfect. This has caused some inconvenience in the past, however, due to his habit of answering questions that have yet to be asked and, in some cases, were not actually going to be spoken. However, it's very useful in a combat situation, of which Raul has seen quite a few.
Favoured equipment: Power armour, boltgun/meltagun combiweapon, power sword, and lots of grenades and specialty ammo.
Note: I decided not to write up a warband for him (mainly because I'm lazy, and probably wouldn't be able to keep of them all), with the expectation that he'd largely be assigned to work with others.
Did I make any glaring mistakes that absolutely must be corrected?

Inquisitor Arian Keita's retinue
Inquisitor Arian Keita
Thracian male, age 135
Equipment: Energy armour, inferno pistol, force blade (sword), paychic powers
A member of one of the Radical factions of the Ordo Malleus, Keita is devoted to serving the Imperium as best he can, and has often butted heads with more puritanical inquisitors over the subject of using Chaos to defeat itself.
A scholarly man, Keita prefers the peace of a librarium to the battlefield, and his psychic powers reflect this, being oriented towards detection and defence rather than combat.
Karaen Tyral
Cadian female, age 54
Equipment: Carapace armour, bolter/plasma gun combiweapon, laspistol
Formerly of the Cadian 123rd, Karaen was recruited by Keita after her unit was all but destroyed fighting a Chaos insurrection on the hive world of Hallas. In the thirty years since then, she's served as a bodyguard to Keita and helped keep him out of (too much) trouble.
Leshra
Female (planet of birth unrecorded), age 102
Equipment: Flak armour, laspistol, psychic powers
A psyker adept, Leshra is far more capable in the more attack-oriented psychic powers than Keita, which is why he recruited her. Admittedly however, her accuracy leaves a great deal to be desired. (WIP)
Myles Novanski
Vahallan male, age 20
Equipment: Carapace armour, boltpistols, power sword
A junior commissar, Myles is fascinated by the universe at large, given his limited experience of it. This also means he can - and often does - fufill the role normally taken on by a savant in Keita's retinue, since the inquisitor has arranged for multiple enhancments to Myles' memory via his contacts in the AM. (Again, WIP)

Jolan Gix's retinue:
Jolan's retinue is small as he has had only a few years to assemble a team of trusted agents. If he needs muscle he typically relies on Severa or Hethor to pick squads from local Imperial forces for his use.
Lieutenant Severa Valen-Imperial Navy security officer.
The product of an ancient naval family, Severa met Gix while he was pursuing the Gundle Cabal, which was connected to corruption that Severa was investigating. A strongly-built stern woman, she has a wry sense of humor that others rarely see. If she was gentler, people might call her handsome. Flak armor, naval pistol, power cutlass, carapace breasplate, and a shotcannon when expecting trouble. She has a laspistol skull and a hunter skull.
Hethor D'eckor-Imperial Guard Veteran
The shaven headed guard veteran towers over most men. Powerfully built and quick, he has survived when others have perished. The dour veteran becomes much more talkative when drinking, gambling, or fighting. Laspistol, sabre slung over back, Flak armor, several knives, rebreather, and a drum fed heavy stubber with auto targeter.
Ajan Chou-Scoundrel
A small man with a quick smile and fast hands, Ajan is comfortable mixing with the highest nobles and the lowest scum. He has a collection of laser and slug throwing pistols and is rarely without some of them. He favors stealth over direct confrontation.

Oooh. This is all very promising.
Grammaton sect of the Vindicarre assassins
Humm. I've always wanted to see what happens when you fire excecutioner rounds at a Grammaton cleric.
In any case, I shall now be throwing open the floor, as it were, as most people seem relatively sorted with their characters. You can be on the planet for any reason, but ideally you should have recently arrived aboard a ship (your own or a random commendeered one.) Now, without giving too much away, I should hope that everyone is nice, and co-operates with the local branch of the Imperial Navy, and lands on a nice Ramilies class starfort. Think Deep Space Nine, with added Xeno Hate and harder drinks. Most of you should get an anonymous message (so help me, tis cheesy) at some point to meet a contact in one of the more isolated parts of the station.
That sorts the Inquisitors out at least. Hang on and I'll edit in bits for the others.

First draft. It's a tad long-winded. You can skip the big paragraphs in the middle, they don't do anything important.
This group is based loosely around a unit in the latest Imperial Guard codex. As such, it has quite a bit of firepower. I can pare that down a lot if it's too much.
Techpriest Engineer Vorus Uttharn
Born ca 900.M41
Place of Birth: Triplex Phall, proud manufacturer of the Destroyer Tank Hunter, Shadowsword, the famed Triplex Pattern Lasgun, and much more. The Forgeworld Triplex Phall takes pride in its advanced laser technology, which its army and agents use extensively.
Techpreist Engineer Uttharn heads and an Adeptus Mechanicus troubleshooting team with his protégé Artisan Foren Tysor and a gang of servitors. In the past he has joined Imperial Guard regiments on campaigns deemed important by the Machine Cult, boarded space hulks, and accompanied Rogue Trader expeditions in search of new and lost technologies.
Vorus is best known among the Adeptus Mechanicus for his predilection towards experimentation. He has been criticized for his chronic failure to discipline troops in the field for unauthorized modifications to their equipment. The thing that truly gained the dislike of his detractors was when he decided to indulge in that practice himself. While following a false lead regarding a lost STC with a Necromundan regiment as escort, Vorus noted the usefulness of the autofire capability of the Necromunda pattern lasgun, and attempted to add that feature to his native Triplex pattern. Such reckless experimentation is generally frowned upon, and modifications to standard pattern devices often take centuries to be approved if they get approved at all. Overenthusiastic about his creation, which he dubbed the Triplex Secundus pattern, Vorus Uttharn campaigned energetically for its adoption. His efforts failed to get his invention adopted, but they succeeded in getting the attention of the Tech Magi of triplex Phall. They came to the conclusion that his talents, which were considerable if a bit misguided, were best put to work in the field. There he could uncover mysteries as he wished but be too far away to trouble himself and others with matters of policy. Incidentally, the tech-priests were right to delay adoption - the new design was buggy and unreliable, and would have needed many years of refinement before it would become suitable for common use.
In his work Engineer Vorus Uttharn is accompanied by the junior tech adept Foren Tysor and a sensor skull made from the remains of his old mentor, who he calls "Grampa". Foren reminds Vorus of what he was like when he was still a young tech adept. His presence had moderated Vorus's radicalism somewhat, for if he were do be denounced as a heretic his young apprentice would surely go down with him.
Vorus is a man of average build, made to look bigger by his power armor. His skin is pale, attesting to spending much of his time indoors, and he burns easily. His skin is less wrinkled than is normal for a man of fifty, and his greying hair is cut short. His companion is younger, at twenty years of age. He is a sturdy youth, accustomed to the hard labors assigned to adepts of his rank. His hair is dark, and if he got a haircut and more bionic implants he would look just like a younger version of his master.
Grampa is an ordinary servo skull of the Hunter type, fitted out with a battery of auspexes and recording devices. Vorus habitually talks to it.
Vorus Uttharn's personal equipment consists of power armor, refractor field, Adeptus Mechanicus robes, breather mask, implanted servo arm (built-in powerfist), mechadendrites, bionic eye with rangefinder, a ceremonial chainaxe, and a triplex-pattern laspistol.
Foren Tysor has carapace armor, robes, Triplex pattern lasgun, mechadendrites, tool box, and tools.
They have a complement of servitors as escort, including a gun servitor with multilaser, gun servitor with lascannon, two assault servitors with implanted powerfists and close combat weapons, and two technical servitors.
2 humans, 6 servitors, 1 servo skull

JediNeophyte, Tasoth. You guys get the fun of sharing a particularly unpleasant Guard transport from in the ass end of nowhere. It is a very small ship, with a very grumpy and unpleasant and overweight Captain by the name of Gusaay. You have been given no idea why you're there, other than that it might involve heretic supression.
And yes, you're welcome to go raise hell on the space station.
