And the first monumentally stupid declaration of the STGOD will be marked down now:

Admitting you annihilated a civilization.

The Bangbus is almost assured after that.

Well, my power has probably erased some pirate/barbarian fiefdoms off the face of the map, but since I'm not aboard the diplomatic meeting (no response, probably will contact home soon) nobody has to know :P

See, stomping out pirates isn't quite the same as saying 'I destroyed a civilization'. And besides, you're not touting it loudly.

I so want to make a fake rank bar after reading that sig. But yeah, Jonas is currently wondering if he's morally obliged to arrest this person.

You want to arrest an AI... One that currently occupies a 150 or so warships, plus quite a bit of other stuff. This isn't exactly an entity you can arrest. Plus, that'd quite reasonably be construed as an act of war. And I think the statute of limitations has expired.

I don't think xenocide has a statute of limitations. As for arrest, well. It's simply a very large arrest. With the suspect resisting arrest with nukes.

There's been worse in STGODs.

Ah yes, also, it wasn't genocide. The Collective didn't exterminate the species. It just knocked them back to the iron age. I believe they now have a religion that includes them having done some horrible deed, and tossed from the stars as a result. Of course, you're also missing the point that said civilization did completely destroy all of the Collective's creators that they could find.

Beowulf wrote:Ah yes, also, it wasn't genocide. The Collective didn't exterminate the species. It just knocked them back to the iron age.
Oh, please. The level of death and destruction required to do such a thing would easily meet any reasonable definition of g/xenocide. It doesn't require a hair-splittingly exact intent to "kill them all," and it doesn't have to be 100% successful. For example, the efforts of the Serbs against the Kosovar Albanians was clearly genocidal, even if one can parse hairs and say it wasn't specifically intended to wipe out an entire race.

That said, I don't think it would be at all sensible to arrest anybody over this. After all, the said AI would have diplomatic immunity and the other people at the table aren't aware of the circumstances of the event. I think that the consequences of such a severe diplomatic faux pas should be simulated in a more mundane fashion; that is, players of nations which are represented at the conference and would culturally object to xenocide are going to be very much inclined to distrust the Collective.

From this point on, anyone that wants to attend this meal, just assume that you're already there and that pleasantries have been exchanged. This is really going to drag out if we have ship hails, crew boards, hello my name is, please come to the dining area and have a seat posts everytime someone wants to join in.

So I could join even though I really would have no way to get a ship to that area.

So, where's the big deal with annihilating a civ? It's not like there is a "UN" to hunt them down. And this place the STGOD seems to be in is a pretty wild place, anyway.

if you really want to, we could say you happened to have an expedition in the area.

I love this new discussion- The Finer Points In Victory Of Interstellar Warfare.

One would think the Concord Captain and the other more 'civilized' civilizations are getting a little weirded out by the AI arguing against the Birdman and the Space Elf against whether or not to completely destroy a race or just orbitally bombard their civilians until surrender. :)

Well, it is obvious that our nations have a different understanding of death and Finer Points In Victory Of Interstellar Warfare :D
And the differences in what a universe is, is also a bit weird for the others I guess. Especially those lacking in magic :P

Must be strange, for those who lack magic.

Must be strange ...

*Notices the Yasi being tested for at birth and being spirited away for either immediate execution or adoption into special forces childrearing camps*

Well, there's technically a bit in the Imperium.

It certainly is a strange discussion :P
But anyone could portray a "normal", boring species. It's those with strange concepts that are fun :)

Nah, he's seen it before. Part of the reason why Concord exists in the first place was to deal with situations like this among the various guild worlds. I'll have Jonas liven up a bit before the end of the meal.

AI answer: none of the above. They don't want to wipe out a civilization again.

Wellllp, things just got interesting.

And as my post in response to the assasination may have tipped you off to, Khar are very afraid of Psychics of their own race to the level of shitting bricks and thus rather magophobic by general principle. As in, if the Khar were able to kill every single psyker inside their society by enacting the Shep Solution across the entirety of half of their planets, they would consider it a good bargain. I can't tell you why, although it's a hell of a good reason. It's their #1 Dark Secret (tm).

Now you're really the life of the party, Spyder.

EDIT: And those cruisers coming to join the party are coming in at sublight; wouldn't want to alarm anyone by performing a microjump into the middle of the meeting.

EDIT TWO: As an aside, would it be possible for one of the mods to place the details of the 2k6 STGOD in the sticky?

Is this still open for a new player? I am casually working my way through all of the threads on this and it looks fairly interesting.
Once I have gotten myself familiar enough with it, I would like to try my hand at playing a low/mid range power.

Edit: I think I understand the whole points system from the OOB. Would someone be willing to look over the military I just made (via PM) in case I messed up anything? If it gets the go-ahead then I will start writing up descriptions and history.

By liven up I of course mean shoot him in the head. This is an STGOD after all.

Inicentally I now have a mental image of a giant blue chicken screeching "Treachery!" while flapping its wings wildly.

Khar Imperium- Finger Lickin' Good Falcon.

But yeah, that's actually a good image. Khar in Heavy (IE- Normal) G are probably not very dignified. I'm suprised he didn't fall over.

Incidentally, Spyder, what's going on? I left my post intentionally vague. Is the "Boarding Party" just my second Shuttle dropping off the Small Arms for the Diplomatic Party? Is something vaguely ominous and probably magical/psychic going on causing the crew to send an actual Boarding Party?

Is the above my call?

Send it to one of the mods, Sirnitram, Spyder, or Pablo Sanchez, they have all the power.

Edit: Doh!
