In the CZE-SLO game the Czechs are murdering their smaller neighbor, halfway through second period the Slovaks are down two goals and being outshot to the tone of 25 to 8 (whole game so far). One of the Czech goals came when they were one man short. The Slovaks are asleep on their feet.

Biggest surprise after the Swiss upsets in the first round.

I donno, I always equated veteran with "too goddamned old and too goddamned slow!" and thats what is ending up as. The peckerhead ref and his quick whistle no help, but ultimately these guys sleepwalked through the tournament.
Experience helps, but not when the players start taking things for granted, which is what they've done for the entire tournament. They didn't play like they wanted a medal and it's no surprise they didn't get one. They treated it like an all-star exhibition skate instead of a serious play-off game.
Wonder what Crosby thinking, especially with Ovechkin scoring goals left n right, and what appears to be the game-winner here.
Probably something along the lines of "thank god I'm not on the team so I don't have to deal with all the upset Canadians". :)

Same here. Has the added bonus of making the Leafs suck less.

The Schoch brothers won the gold and silver earlier tody on snowboards. First time siblings have won gold and silver in the same event in the Olympics since 84 (according to the announcers).

At least now that Canada has performed so dismally, MLSE and John Fergeson Jr. won't feel a pressing need to keep Quinn on as head coach for much longer. Last time, after Canada won gold in 2002, they wanted parade Quinn through the streets like the great hero that would lead the Leafs to victory. Granted, in 2002 we had a great season and made the conference finals, but now Quinn's run this team into the ground and he's ruined Canada's chances. It's time we had a scapegoat, and I can think of no one better than old Stoneface.

You shall suffer the ice hockey equivalent of the battle of Raate Road come tomorrow, for we will defend our status of being yet undefeated in this tournament and strangle the imperialistic notions of our former overlords! And we shall take the gold as we crush the faltering opponent from the CZE-SWE semifinal!

SUOMI!

Too bad for Irina Slutskaya on figure skating.

And Shizuka Arakawa was amazing (also she's one of the few that don't look like she's <15 years old)

One thing that sort of sucks is the NBC reporters.

No, it's right. I assumed you were expecting Cohen to win the gold, so I mocked you, since she did not, in fact, win gold.

Have a very nice day.

Even with Bronze, it's close to a Grand Slam in figure skating. GGGB.
It's nigh impossible to have all 4 Golds, but anyway it's still a high plank. I'll see if someone could compare to this on the next Olympics

Za Rodinu is always applicable, even if you don't win.
