Here are the representatives.

Same here. I'd be delighted to try and answer any questions you might want to ask.

Shroom, I just read your post. Well done - just as funny and vaguely disturbing as always!

The Captain of the Lance of Damocles giggled with glee at the transmissions.
I'm sorry, but there's just no way this guy can be a Byzantine Captain. Giggling with glee is not grimdark.

Oh, I don't know. Withered old prune-men who've been doing their murderous job for far, far too long and ought to have long since left the service wrapped in a lavish pension- or a pine box- that seems suitably grimdark to me. And men like that can work up a quite respectable half-senile giggle.

I read that and wondered, "Maybe D. Dragon and R. Julia are relatives. Or long-lost twins! Or twins that disowned each other despite them both being basically the same!"
With the ridiculousness of this setting the possibilities are endless.

I was about to say "Could this setting be any more ridiculous?" When I had a sudden realization. I knew the answer to my question.
No. No, this has passed the point of maximum lunacy. We have an empire of Supermen doing... I'm not sure what. We have an empire of genocidal insane Orwellian space bears, allied with an empire of all-devouring insects that may or may not devour their allies as soon as it is convenient. We have a bunch of genocidal human screaming fanatical believers in their God-Emperor. We have the Pfhor, probably on the run from Durandal or something. The Turians seem to have wandered off from Citadel Space, the MEH is, well, the MEH, the Orks are insane as always, we have the blasted Necron/Borg weirdos, a race of freindly space demons, and then we hav)(U%#)*&Y#(*HGF*>#Q*&GF*&G#@*&RG*&G#*%R&GFUI *INSANITY OVERLOAD DETECTED*

Don't forget the mad scientists, the catgirls, the post-scarcity post-Singularity human/CI masters of dickery, the nukophiliac ruthless genocidal warmongers, the comedy-version of the Galactic Empire, and of course, the lesbians.
EDIT: Also, thank you Shroomy for the Umerian cameos.

Most definitely. I've been a minor player or a mod in all four games so far.

No, doom, no. There is no such thing as maximum lunacy. The deeper down the rabbit hole you go, the more wildly the insanity spirals out of control, like a metaphor that's run off the rails and exploded. You stare into the abyss, and the abyss laughs at you. It fucking laughs.

He's giggling because the show is just getting started.

If something doesn't blow up, I will be disappointed.
Ideally, it will involve a Nova Atlantean Admiral screaming "MOOOOOOOOOOOO!" because, you know, postspelling.

Out of curiosity, what would the
Lance of Damocles rate on the Stefan-Wylkins Scale, anyway? Even if Byzantine ships are renowned for their high durability, it's still only one ship, and one that hasn't been kept up-to-date as far as I can tell. I also wonder how well the
Yer Mom would hold up against modern combatants, seeing as it's aged even worse than the
Patriotic Glory class paleocruisers still in Bragulan service. There's also the issue of what would happen to the Centralist, Humanist Union, and Haruhiist fleets if they got mixed up in this mess.

Both ships are about equal. (most weapons got stripped out of the
Damocles) We didn't quite come to start a fire fight.
We came to do something worse.

I have been busy trying to get this whole pirate thing finished. I should perhaps focus on the more recent things though. Send me a PM if you need me to respond to something please, otherwise I have kinda fallen behind on SDNW4, or have only skimmed stuff once and probably missed something.
Also I have compiled all my pirate stuff in a thread in User fiction.

I am also interested in reading your paper once you finish it.
