Very real indeed. Rather an interesting story there, too...

That's an 8-ft hammerhead shark... took a very long time to get in near, then my uncle (it's his boat, incidentally-- he runs a charter fishing service) got it up by the side of the boat, tried to frickin' HARPOON it (just scratched its head though), and finally he put that bloody huge hook through its belly... and the thing was still kickin' like crazy! So he gets his .357 pistol (kept for just such eventualities) and sends a few rounds thru its head...

After that, we retrived our anchor, and then he decided it was photo time... hauled it partway in, slit it open-- and it was still kinda live... of course, very much dead, but it was still kickin'! Since a "dead" lemon shark chewed up his thumb the other day, we were very careful with it (hence the rope around its head), but got the photos done without mishap...

i tell ya, i was one happy guy!!!
