Putting aside the fact that Wookiees weren't even considered sapient during the Imperial period (if he's talking about the Remnant, there's slightly more probablity of such a thing occuring, but not much more), I don't even see how a full-grown one would fit into a TIE cockpit. When I was a kid, I always figured Chewbacca's name was just a nickname Han Solo made up for him, because his real name would be some kind of grunt that can't be pronounced properly by humans.

1) I didn't say it was custom made, I said it was built to Vader's specifications, meaning that he was responsible for the design of the ship and thus it would be made so that he could fly it.
