Oh there will absolutely be chances for you to address the delegates. In fact, go ahead and post it dated May 5th so we know that it's the start of the actually conference, not the "how're y'all doing?" bit.

Hm. The last time we had a state dinner of the like, the Shepistani ambassador stabbed the Lonestar ambassador in the eye if I recall...

Dr. Mahogany hasn't murdered anyone since the 1940s. And even then it was with a howitzer, not a dagger.
What would be the circumstances of the speech? I've got the text, but it's several paragraphs. Not a dinner toast or anything like that.

I would imagine it would be at the start of the main conference the next day. You can include a bit about how Mahogany petitioned the King to be allowed to speak first and since no one else had asked he said yes.

Quick question: Who here has seen either
Olympus Has Fallen or
White House Down? Just curious...

Posting something completely different (and backdated). This is the last part of the bit where Rose gets promoted. She's from a rather odd province, a lot of the oddness being implicit in her exchange with the princess.
[Considerable thanks go to the friend of mine of whom Rose is a semi-cameo; she helped me rather extensively with the dialogue.]

I've seen both. Whilst it would be deliciously ironic to have something like that happen here itwould be annoying to say the least.

I thrive on dramatic irony, but I do see how it could be annoying for everyone involved. What are the chances that Orion would get hit by another massive terrorist attack? During an anti-terrorism conference, no less?
On the other hand, it'd be a nice opportunity for all those military, paramilitary, and ex-military folks (Director Jackson, Captain Rogers, the multitude of San Doradoan PMCs, the Arcadian delegation, Dr. Mahogany, et cetera) to show what they're made of. Just throwing that out there.

Perhaps save that for some future conference.

A future conference may never come at all, though that's just the pessimist in me talking.

1) I'd be open to it
2) Shinn, my suggestion is that we just keep chugging; if we do, the odds of the game surviving (even if it simmers along at a low pace) are good. If we spend a lot of time moping about how we're not being productive enough or not doing enough, we end up with self-fulfilling prophecies.

Actually, to hell with it. Sure, let's run with this idea. Could be a laugh.

I kind of have stuff to discuss with people at the conference, it wouldn't really be conducive to have a major incident take place that forcibly involves everyone.
Perhaps have these terrorists storm the hotel where the delegations that want to participate in that sort of thing happen to be staying? That means other people can (mostly) stay out if they want. It's also more easily explained how they get past Orion security.

what the hell happened to San Dorado opposing non-ausfrican nations acting on the continent?

I'm guessing a pile of money happened to that. Or maybe Mr. Night not caring what "San Dorado" thinks happened to that. Maybe both?
By the way, can anyone who knows meteorology predict at what times of year the bizarre and unholy monster typhoons that keep hitting Lothal might be at a lull? Or is the answer "THEY SHOULD NOT BEEE!" followed by terrified whimpering at the unnatural superhurricanes?

The usual caveats of 'not every corporation acts the same' and 'enough money can buy anyone' apply, but as I recall I warned that San Dorado would object to permanent bases on our continent. People who just sail by blowing up annoying people don't bother us so much. Especially not when they pay us.

Globally, May is the least active cyclone month, and September is the most active cyclone month, according to the
NOAA. Of course, each tropical cyclone basin has its own seasonal patterns, and these patterns apply to Earth only. I have no idea how ocean dynamics in Tellus work; might as well just go with whatever works best story-wise.

Hm. Well, I like the idea that the Umerian Navy wouldn't deliberately plan their operation in the middle of cyclone season, so perhaps the Lothali cyclone season starts in, oh, September, and runs on into the (northern hemisphere) winter? I imagine it'd have to be calming down by March or the pirates wouldn't have been operating so boldly in that month.

I'll be sure to keep bags of money with dollar bill signs on hand then.

I think
somebody figured it out, or at least sounded pretty sure. Which may not be the same thing.
I believe it was either
Timothy_C or
Beowulf.

What I did was I looked at the weather patterns for the Pacific, which while changed, are still a good baseline, and determined that for me, the first half of May is the time least likely for a Hurricane to hit any of the Unified Kingdoms.

So I don't know if Pellaeon is normally that wordy or what-have-you, but it just sort of came out as I was typing so why not?
