Why yes, because OBVIOUSLY the hypercapitalist libertarian paradise of San Dorado is such an

Yeah, that's probably the weirdest about the whole 'zomg the commies are taking over' paranoia. If anything it should be clear that we're not commies...
Also CATO is more than just a NATO-style alliance. It strikes me more as a European Community-with-benefits...

We should do a press conference outlining how CATO is an awesome alliance that has in its fold, amongst other things ASIDE from communists, parliamentary democracies, constitutional monarchies, Holy Roman Empires, hypercapitalist corporatocracies, duchies, dukedoms, first, second, third AND fourth world nations!

Whatever the FUCK a "Kwisatz Haderach" is.
Motherfucking sandworms.
SHADY:
X-Files! Shadow style!
Mulderovskic!
Skulinski!
What kind of inhuman experiments are your Black Hand soldiers doing, Shady?
(It was pretty good. It's totally cool that you're using X-Files characters, as they are awesome.)
Man, I can't believe Mulder and Scully are working for NOD, of all things!

No, I'm back. That was all between the meet when San Dorado joined in Stasograd, and when Baerne went to San Dorado to join. The results of the meet are yet to be seen, as I pretty much have to wait on Karmic Knight *hint hint*
PeZook wrote:Why yes, because OBVIOUSLY the hypercapitalist libertarian paradise of San Dorado is such an

Now there's a choice.
Anyway, the commie thing is mostly paranoids anyway. Of course the rest of us still have legitimate concern over the sudden and rapid expansion of CATO that has nothing to do with communism. And more than just the usual "all other nations are possible enemies" that's standard fare. After all, as much as I like PeZook, I'm sure there's a War Plan [Color] for him, buried in the archives.
FYI, Shroomania's was War Plan Pink. Obviously.

Beo and I were talking about standardized colored warplans the other night on AIM. Maybe MESS-standard warplans for everyone to follow? The West's (lol. Canissia is MESS' West Germany) counter to CATO action. :>

So who's the happy soul that gets to tell good ol' Lord Moonbeam that not only did his daughter fuck up her
own mission (again), she managed to fuck up FASTA's mission as well?
Man, I wish this world were real for just a moment, just to see the news coverage and editorials this will spawn (no way you can keep a lid on this).

I will promptly ban Moonbeam and his daughter from ever entering Byzantium that's for certain.

I think i'll write about him getting tazed by KGB security troops or something
Anyway, the FASTA mission wasn't really fucked up, since the rendezvous happened after all the tests were done. It's just a matter of negotiating with Khitan for the flight data recorder.
And BTW, I liked the green city of Travnik more than Balkanized names for Fox Mulder
EDIT: And Siege, there's the two pilots as well, you seem to have forgotten them

If you don't mind, I am about to make a post forbidding Moonbeam from ever setting foot in Byzantine soil ever again.

I know, but I don't really have anything for them to do in my story. I believe Shroom will mention them when he picks up the Miranda storyline post-landing, but I intend to focus solely on the merry threesome of crazy multi-billionaire CEOs stranded in the middle of Velaria...

And the pod, and people? They could potentially try and keep them, by claiming "Um, we can't find them. And no you can't look" or something. Since they're isolationist and, at least as Bean was setting them up before he vanished, not exactly on friendly terms with the world.
At least they didn't wind up in Japanistan, though. They'd probably be executed as spies.

Uh...it doesn't really matter, since the service module is disposable

Well, we really wanted to have Khan Alan riding about with Mongols
Realistically, Khitan will probably interrogate them and let them go, since none of the crewmembers hold any actual military secrets: Alan and Svetlana were fighter pilots, but they haven't been in service for more than five years now ; Perhaps they'll take the capsule apart and analyze it, but there's little to learn from the re-entry module: the heat shield would be ablated and most of the important stuff is in the service module. They could probably get some ideas about how to design a lifting re-entry vehicle, but they probably have this tech already.

Why are there Mongols, anyway? Seems...odd. I don't think Bean was keeping any around.

Well, Japanistan was, in theory, going to make overtures towards them about some agreement because of CATO getting them paranoid again. Don't know if that went anywhere. If it did though, Japanistan could take them and hold them. Just to be dicks.
Anyway, how do we know Khitan isn't just as paranoid about the rest of the world and wouldn't hold them on general principle? There's got to be
some reason they don't interact with anyone else, ever.

Go for it! If you want to, then go and do it for the lulz!
But actually, I'm planning to have Lord Moonbeam bellow upon the news of his daughter, and then immediately mount an EXPEDITION to the darkest heart of Velaria! Aboard a Zeppelin!
He shall bring his elephant gun with him!
Sir Livingshroom I presume!
He shall take with him his most prized hunting-elephant, and ride atop it as he scours the darkest depths of the jungle! The Great Shroom Hunter!
EDIT:

Seriously. Our intended continuation of the storyline involves Alan Shroompard being declared Khan by nomadic Mongol tribes and either they await FASTA's glorious recovery, or emerge on an EXODUS to FREEDOM.
So, yeah, it's definitely not gonna be realistic. On the other hand, it could've just been a routine space mission. But we think it'd be cool this way.

Just a question though, if Japanistan is tad bit paranoid, they are only going for an alliance only if it serves them any good. What does Khitan, which has a second rate economy due to its isolationist policy after WWI (were they even involved in WWII?) and obviously it didn't get involved in lots of the scientific advances of the century, so are they considered a valid power?

Well, if I was the leader of Japanistan,I'd feed Khitan's paranoia and give it enough advanced technology so that they could threaten our flank. You have to admit their location is strategically awesome.
