Hey, bite your tongue havokeff I don't hate Eli Manning even more, as a Chargers fan. In my book, he's "atoned" for his sins of not wanting to play in San Diego cause he SHUT PATRIOTS FANS THE FUCK UP and I would worship anyone that did that, even T.O. or some similar ego-maniac whom I typically despise.

Patriots fans are all talk and no class universally it seems. After the Patriots finally went 16-0 by beating the Giants and then again when they went 18-0 by knocking off my Chargers, a coworker kept insisting I had to "man up" and admit who the best team in the league was. "You know, I don't know who the best team is right now but I will know cause the best team in the National Football League is the team that wins the Super Bowl." That was what I told him, that was the sentiment.

So when I asked for exactly that from him, who was the best team he just smirks and sorta utters New England under his breath. Obviously his method of coping with the humiliation of defeat is bald-faced denial. The "fuck the field goal let's go deep!" call seemed to be especially unpopular with him. But yeah, Pats fans won't man up themselves, big fucking surprise.

As for the game, I didn't bother to watch it. Won $50 off a grid, though, so I definitely came out in the black (also won two weeks of the regular season, netting about $100-150 total for the season and playoffs, give or take. And I chose my teams by flipping a coin. Suckers).

As for the outcome, I don't anticipate hearing any whining about the Patriots losing, especially because I actually live in New England. Interesting thing about any New England sport is that since the fans around here are so used to being disappointed, they are usually the first to admit when their team legitimately loses. And this would be a case of that. Even if we assume that the refs were holding a grudge, the Giants had to be good enough to capitalize on any advantage or they would have lost anyway (kinda like how all the cheating in the world wouldn't have made the Patriots go undefeated if they were like, say, the Dolphins).

Yeah, I saw that when I flipped to it to see the score. I had no idea you could challenge on that and only a total douchebag actually would.

Really? i don't like Bellicheck at all but it was a call which gave his team a 1st down and those are like gold in the NFL. I think it was a well played call on his part. Some of it may be that the 'Skins beat the Vikings by exploiting the exact same challenge back in week 16 but its a legitimate challenege. At the end of the day if you can catch the opposing team breaking the rules and get a 1st down out of the play then go for it.

That said NE should cry in their beer that they got a fresh set of downs and should have taken the steam out of the Giants D yet they came up with jack and shit after that.

Feh. That's only an outlier. This works for a vast majority of games.

IIRC, baseball uses a similar methodology. Key differences, though, like "pitcher" instead of "quarterback"

At least a quarterback generally plays an entire game. Josh Beckett got the World Series MVP in 2003 even though he went 1-1 in that series (pitched a great loss, but it was still a loss). How a guy can play in two out of six games, win only one and be considered for the MVP of the series was beyond me at the time.
