Mike, did you move to a new server or kill that Java crap? There's no more slowdowns at all, and no one's screaming "%&&%$$@ FUCKING JAVA!!!111 O_O" any more. Kudoz!!!!
And do you by any chance have any more of those shirtless pics like from the Adonis Thread? </Too-Horny-For-My-Own-Good>

Mike's hosting it on his own server at the moment I believe.

Not exactly a malfunction, but odd behavior. When you're at the screen for one of the forums, there are to links above the list of topics : One goes to the BBS forum index, the other goes to the forum you're on. On the millenniumfalcon skin the second link leads to
http://bbs.stardestroyer.net when it should lead to
http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewforum.php?f=(insert forum number here). I checked all the other skins and millenniumfalcon and licars are the only skins that act this way.
Edit: Talked it over with some people on the chat, this only seems to happen on Internet Explorer.

Anybody else havinng problems with MilleniumFalcon? I had to drop out & reconnect because of timeout problems ca 1/2 hour back, and since then the scheme looks wacky (as if the page would stop loading halfway, sort of).
SubSilver seems to work fine

UPDATE: The problem seems to be exlusive to MF, indeed: Every other board style works fine...

I use MF exclusively and have no problems.

Don't know if it's my end or the board, but a lot of text has changed size and quite a lot (including all quotes) has turned grey/black, which since i'm using MilleniumFalcon makes it a pain in the ass to see.
Also the quote boxes look untidy, with gaps between the lines at the corners and stuff.
Examples of text that's turned grey/black:
"Get your fill of sci-fi ..." at the top beneath the logo
"Message Body" and "Emoticons" while posting.
All text (except links) in the topic review while posting

I'm having bother trying to read some threads, instead of opening the thread it askes me to download it. I'm using Mozilla.

The archive search seems to be down.

That was a power outage when I was out of town (the Archive board runs on my server at home, while the main board runs on a server at a different location). I turned it back on when I got home.
In the meantime, I just switched from Apache 2.0 to Apache 1.3 for some propellerhead tech reasons that probably aren't worth discussing in depth. Hopefully there will be no issues resulting from this change, but 1.3 is more stable (2.0 has been heavily modified to work better with Windows, which means nothing to me since I'm running this server on Linux).

Damn, I knew I forgot something. I forgot to install mod_ssl! Argh ...
Anyway, it should be working OK now.

I believe it can run out of memory on the search if it returns too many hits. I can boost the PHP memory limit, although that's a bit of stopgap measure. I'm looking at implementing another solution for searching in another week or two, so in the meantime, I'll try increasing that memory limit from 16MB to 32MB and hoping it doesn't cause too many problems with memory allocation.

I've had that exact same problem with a different website actually (
link) but with Firefox. Maybe their server's misconfigured?

I've never been able to use the archive board. When I click on it, it shows my log in screen with my SN and password already in place, and when I click on "log in", it says it is an incorrect username or password. I try to get a new password, but that doesn't work, repeated attempts get me locked out, and I give up in frustration every time instead of reporting it.

It's your browser which is pre-filling the username and password fields, not the server. And the browser is probably pre-filling the form with old data. Just overwrite the username and password in thefields by manually entering them yourself.

BTW, I have just made some changes to the search engine, both here and on the Archive board, so it should hopefully be faster.

Was that why the board was being slow as molassas a minute ago? I spent 20 minutes trying to load the Stamos flamebait thread in HOS, something that normally takes two seconds.

Yeah, sorry about that. I had to transfer roughly 600MB of data into the searchword tables. That slowed the board down a bit. But it should be OK now.
