As Jack stood up, Dachlan rose, too.
"Jack, better let your gun where it is now," he softly spoke from behind.
"You don't want to have more enemies than necessary. Especially not Giovanni. I can assure you, Anna knows what she does. It may hurt your chivalrous heart, but she's not damsel in distress."

Mal looked towards the Giovanni, he chuckled at the sight of the two thugs, but still raised his awareness. Giovanni... I think some are buried in my graveyard... He mentally took inventory of what he had with him, a dark smile crossing his face before he returned his look the Joshua.

"Dachlan, I'm not much for standing around and letting these thugs take advantage of her." he muttered out of the corner of his mouth but realized that the Tremere would know far better than he about the situation.

He remained standing but kept his hands away from the gun and instead rested them on the back of his chair where they squeezed.

"Good, Jack." Dachlan's voice lost a bit of the tense it held a few seconds earlier.
"It's not patronizing, or whatever you might think. I just don't want you to do things you'll regret in your young life. You may regret them for a long time, my dear friend. And secondly, a fight in here might be....unrecommended. If Anna should come into trouble, you'll have ample time to proove yourself."
Dachlan remained standing, his arms crossed before his chest, rising to his full height and projecting a natural aristocratic aura of self assuredness.

Those actually watching take note of several of the waiters and waitresses escorting certain patrons from the bar. They seem to be getting the norms out of the way before there is a serious break in the Masqurade.

Anna continues to play mind games with the Giovanni until the room is cleared.

Dachlan sees the clearing of the bar in his peripheral vision, as he continues looking at the Giovanni.

So much for a uneventful meeting...
he shifted his stance a trifle bit reading himself for whatever might come next.
And all the while he glanced at Jack, afraid that he might give in to his urge to 'rescue' Anna.
I really start to like that young one. Such youthful vigour...

Perhaps it would have been better to stay outside. Alfred discretely maneuvered to put sunglass guy between himself and the suits. He had the feeling that this disturbance would interfere with his planned amiable conversation.

Larz wrote:Mal looked up from his readings towards the man next to him, a single word growled out from his throat, its tones feral, despite any training it still made his hairs tingle "Malkavian". His eyes now pierced into the stranger next to him, the demonic flames in his eyes danced as he turned over the mans dropping of the accent.

"Poor poor Malkavians, a clan, a cult, a family gathering of sort. He was so wise and yet so greedy and Cain did sup the things that make us so fearful of knowledge. Cain did gifted us with insight that poor fangs with stomachs are exculded from, having mind of man and man on mind." He smiled darkly, leaning close to the person, he pulled the book so that the man could read see the tattered, old pages.

"Knowledge, life, death, rebirth, blood, bonds, and destruction. Books, books, the horsemen of the apocalypse. Gehena and Antes sup from their sire and bring lovely peace to the earth and their hunger..." He smiled quaintly, with a harsh bite to it the malkavian barked out at the man "READ!... find knowledge and perhaps you may be blessed only to turn to dust..." Mal smiled wickedly as he spun on the stool, the archane code was a lost one, indeed it would take a very old scholar to decrypt the archaic lines and curves that covered the script.

"With adieu, you are done, please deposit, 5 more centuries of life for the party line of doom" With that the Malkavian snatched the text away with incredible speed, he spun, laughing and planted the book upon the bartop again before him...
This was kind of fun. Kind of creepy, yes, but fun.

I couldn't make head or tails of the writing in the book. Could have been Atlantian for all I new. Reading and writing was never big on the things to do when I was alive. Didn't become literate in English until a couple hundred years later. That was just so I could learn more about the budding new magic of science. Now the spoken word, that's a different story. you need to learn to have kind of an ear for them when you move around as much as I have.

"Clan's eh? Yeah, that's right, everybodies all tribal, aren't they." He wasn't even listening to me anymore. Funny how you spend most of your unlife trying not to be noticed and when you've got it down to an art, it pisses you off to no end.

Ah well, it didn't really matter. That was about the time the place was over run by a bunch of heavies. They came through the front doors like clowns out of a little car. One group made a B-line for the bar where I was standing next to old Mal there and the kid, another, straight for the owner herself.

"Oh crap," I said under my breath. Well not under my BREATH but you get my meaning. "Here we go again. And me without my pig-sticker."

I readied myself for the inevidable brawl that always seemed to happen at times like these and looked around for any impromptu weaponry.

I raised my voice enough for the increasingly silent lounge to hear. "Hay! Anybody order a half dozen hired goons?"

The Malkavian turned toward the wise cracker next to him, a gleeful smile upon his lips "Clans, clans, thats what we all are, find a sire that gives you power." He laughed at the mans ignorance of vampire lore, even he, who had for the first 600 years of his unlife ignored any word of vampire lore knew the traits of the different clans. With that he turned his attention to the thugs, a menical grin playing upon his lips.

"Books, books, why so many look for books, no libraries nor need to dust mold from moldy minds. Gangstas with Appleberry, Jumpin Johnny Black Flash and the ol Clyde and Bonnet themselves who did trick and sup such poor teasers of Cain who showed only Cains mortallity towards black robes and scyths." He laughed darkly, his expression smug as his mind reeled.

"My champin, this boys..." he motioned to the two kindred next to him, "shall ward your peanut buttery goodness away from my fresh, apple bossom. Hear me not poor fiends, lovers of justice and justice of demons, feel the discourse run through the essence of your last patient!" The malkavain seemed to be addressing the Giovanni yet, also seemed to merely be talking to himself as he spoke his reckless plight.

Alec spotted the suits as soon as they entered. The Giovannia had balls to start trouble so openly. What ever that book was, it was important and dangerous.

"Gentleman, good night", tension showing in his voice

The Giovannia are threatening her. I've got to help her. Why the hell did I come back? Damn it!. If I don't get it out of her.... and take that damn book with me, Anna's going to get killed.

Alec stood up. He kept an eye on the thugs as he began headind towards the office. They didn't see him yet. But they would. He began to walk faster.

((I'm wondering, how are we going to work the actual 'rolling' of this game? Honour system? I can be extremely lucky  ))

[OOC] What I'm even more dubious of is the gameplay system used. No offense to her, but Kelly doesn't seem to have control of the game and more importantly I think there are roughly twice to three times as many characters as there should be, especially for a new GM.[/OOC]

[OOC]I'm happy just to disappear into the night. Hell I'm meant to be organising a CoC game at the moment, not to mention a Necromunda campaign and a 40k map campaign and rounding up people for an Amber game...[/OOC]

((Well, so far, I think it "flows" nicely. Maybe if we introduce an "assistant" GM, we could overcome some communcation lag problems? It would be a pity if we didn't go on playing just when it starts to get interesting...))

((Although everyone has brought up some good points, until that does happen, I suggest we treat this like a play. The show must go on!))

Jay spoke up before Michael reached over to strangle the femmy bastard. "Roland, you don't understand, do you? You are even more naive than I thought." He let out a low chuckle.

"Alec duMont," Joshua said loudly.

((I propose that we dispense with actually rolling for events. Kelly knows all of our characters and their traits (mostly I think). I say she PMs each person and tells them what is going to happen to them in the up coming event, then we write it up ourselves. It's probably a lot of work for Kelly and having an assistant may be a good idea but it's a way to make the story seamless. Well, as seamless as it is now anyway. This relies on people not whining if Kelly says they're going to get hurt though. It's all part of the story. Of course, I'm sure she'd probably hear out anyone's arguments if you think what happens is out of character. I hope. This would be limited to things like, "Thug number four is going to attack you and you are going to beat him hands down" or "You are attacked by thug number two and you get your ass kicked." With that type of que a person can write up their fight the way they want to as long as it ends up with you getting your ass handed to you. Hope this makes sense.))

Mark has the right idea, we're all grown up and if Kelly says our character gets hurt or loses we can take that, just make it real good thats all. Quite frankly its more fun just chatting with the other players than fighting all the time.

Exactly, which wasn't my intention to begin with. But, with the way things were going, the issue was forced. Combat was inevitable, so I made it on MY terms.

Yes, I am a bit overwhelmed, but you guys keep popping plot points on me without warning. I would appreciate any help with controlling the game. Yes, I am a fledgeling WW GM, but not a fledgeling GM period. I probably should have placed some ground rules first, but I wanted to see what would happen. Now I know better.

So, are we ok now? Can we continue, get the fight over and go on about the talking?

Here we stand. Here we fall. History won't care at all...

As everyone started quieting down to keep their eyes on the brood of thugs dispersing around the room I noticed the music coming through the various speakers. Queen. Not bad.

I looked around. Most people were on their feet now. The biker in particular was looking ready to explode. His hands gripped the back of the chair in front of him like a whore on a one dollar bill. I never would have thought a corpses knuckles could get any whiter. The guy beside him was trying to calm him. Someone was thinking.

...Lady Mercy won't be home tonight...

The bruisers were starting to get really forward with the lady of the house but she wasn't backing down. Tough girl, that's for sure. She almost seemed to be getting the better of them. Not to hard judging from the dull expressions of their faces.

Things almost looked like they might diffuse until the kid standing a crazy guy away from me opened his yap...

"Alec DuMont," he drew eyes to both himself and the poor bastard trying to make an exit.

...We're all waiting for the hammer to fall...

Anna's eyes cut towards Joshua. She was going to have words with Michael after this. Her hightened hearing allowed her to hear Alec's curse as he froze near the bar. She could hear the goons moving towards him. She had to do something and fast.

She had her hands clasped behind her. She felt the cool handle of her damascene blade pressed into her palms. Smiling, she mentally thanked Katiana for thinking so quick. She brought the sword around in front of her and held the sheath in her left hand and the hilt in her right.

"Gentlemen, I ask that you leave my childe alone and leave my establishment immediately. I do not wish to be forced to do something drastic." Slowly, she began to unsheathe the sword as she awaited their reply.

"In case you were wondering...the lady has friends." Jack added with a cold smile, hints of fangs peeking out from his lips. He did not move a muscle but he immediately measured distances and targets. At the drop of a hat he could be in motion.

"In case you were wondering...the lady has friends."

Dachlan thought Jack was about right. As it seemed they wanted Alec DuMont. Badly. He didn't know Alec, besides the short meeting today, but he knew Anna. And she helped Dachlan before, so he won't let her fight alone.

He cleared his throat, and made hismind clear for the inevitable fighting. Ijust hope the suit'll survive this. I just had it cleaned...
"My young friend here is right, you know," he nodded to Jack. "She has friends. Leave now, Giovanni filth. As long as you still can..."
He let out a derisive laughter.

Alec froze when he heard his name. He didn't know who spoke and didn't care. As soon as it was uttered the game was up. There would be no slipping quietly away. No vanishing into the night. He was caught and more worrying it was after Anna had tried to sheild him. She was now in as much trouble as he was.

"Damn it" He launched into a string of curses in several different languages even as he turned back towards Anna. She was preparing to defend herself and him. He saw her drawing her sword, that decided it. He turned to face them even as Reece spoke up too. Alec continued to move towards Anna even as the goons paused.

There's going to be a fight. They won't leave, they don't have a choice but to try and get the book. The book or their lives. Those guys weren't going to back down
