The massed Commonwealth fleet transferred the mere few lightyears between Osiris and Jacob's Landing. They had been alerted as to the Cornerian movements by Coventry's defenses.

"Fleet, prepare for the enemy. Launch all fighters, and link PD with the planet's sattalite defense network."

The Commonwealths Special Amabassador to the UTR was brought down to World Tower, the massive tower that served as the seat of the UTRs executive branch, by a diplomatic service shuttle that landed on one of the towers many rooftop shuttle ports.

His aides and himself were brought down to the office of the UTRs new Secretary of State Ryan Dellstar. The fromer secretary had recently retired due to personal reason and President Devly had appointed the career diplomat and naval officer to the post.

Relief convoys left Nyfitsar space. They sped to their destinations on their new hyperdrive engines, due to arrive with unprecedented speed. Two went for Desjardins and Jacob's Landing. A third, escorted by the second fleet, was destined for Osiris, which was obviously the Cornerians's next target.

The small fleet of freighters left for Jaobs Landing as soon as they could be prepared. They were protected by a small group of destroyers.

They should arrive within the next few hours.

"We're picking up a signal from Desjardins. They have foldspace signatures incoming. ETA one minute."

A relief convoy, tagged as diplomatic and escourted by Makos, left Union space and headed for commonwealth space via jumpoint

The scout squadron tailing the Cornerians easily caught the massed drone launches, and had already broadcast the change in movement to the Commonwealth defense squadrons.

The Commonwealth defending forces were already over Desjardins when the Cornerians arrived.

Today the Secretary of War announced that Task Force 51, reinforced by Detachment twelve has left port at the new Jenistat Station and is reported to be performing wargames in free space to help integrate the vessels of detachment twelve into the task force.

Hirsch Defense Systems is proud to announce the launch of the MK.VII Orbital Defense Platform, the first Hirsch defense platform to feature a compound turbolaser. We have sad news to bring you. Klingon privateers have attacked and destroyed a liner transiting from Camelot to Mars. All 20,000 passengers along with the eight hundred man crew are presumed lost at this time.

*Cut to footage of six new generation Klingon Bird of Preys decloaking and then riddling a massive liner with turbolaser bolts. The surprised liner exploded quickly.*

No warning was given and the ships recloaked almsot immediatly. The Secretary of Defense has said he will learn how three cloaked warships were able to penetrate in UTR territory. Star Guard command says they are trying to determine how border patrol teams and surveillance assets missed the Klingon ships.

The Secretary of War then said that he has the Naval Staff working on potential responses to this attack. He refused to comment on what those options could be.

The newest member of the cabinet, Secretary of State Dellstar, was also present to make a comment on the attack. He said that he was trying to contact the Klingon Government and that he had nothing else to say until he spoke to the Klingon Council.

More as we learn of it.

The upgrade series continued, now cycling through the fighter squadrons. The previously clear hyperlanes of the Hegemony burst into sudden activity as hundreds of small craft jumped back and forth to test the new systems. The trials went with little mishap, which was fortunate. Lately a dark cloud seemed to hang over the future, promising terrible strife ahead. The skaven workers and soldiers, true to their Nurglish heritage, responded to these dark portents with a manic frenzy of activity. Mercifully, though a few slip-ups were inevitable, modern advances in food service kept losses from cannibalism to a minimum.

The Psychopath, first of her class, lifted herself away from the fleet, joined by a half-dozen Gangseter's and her tending Unrelenting's. They killed speed slightly, coming up on the gaining Affront Fleet. Their Displacers kicked into high gear, flinging bombs and missiles into the approaching fleet.

"We're a little evenly matched here for my tastes, but if they want to get to the system, they'll have to slow down!" Barked the Psychopath's captain. "We keep them at high speed here to avoid our shots, we take pressure off the rest. Let's do this!"

The Big Stick and her escorts hit the Cornerian capital first, landing on top of the defensive platforms like a bowling ball hitting a china doll. High energy weapon discharges hit each platform in turn, the vastly more powerful Corsair craft able to weather the million+ missile swarms as they shook and vibrated in the battle.

"Once the stations are down, we show our hand! In the meantime, keep each other and that Commonwealth battlegroup alive!"

[Affront Taskforce Four]

The Proto-Minds driving the Affront warships responded to the Cosair's attack by simply displacing the projectiles right back at them. Cold, precise Minds locked on to the ordinance and flung it right back at. The few that got through were easily absorbed by the sheilds causing little damage.

The two HOUs and their escorts slowed their headlong pursuit of the Commonwealth fleet. The Cornerian fleets were dropping in on the system anyway, this would be a sufficient war up.

The fleets made their translation back into the system and moved to the aid of Seventh Fleet. This would be the decisive battle of the war.

Grand Admiral Andreson watched the displays. The Cornerian fleet outgunned his by a small margin, but the twenty surviving planetary defense gun platforms, and the fighter bases on the orbital habitats, made things a little more equitable.

"All vessels, activate ECM, arm decoys, and give the enemy four volleys of countermeasure missiles. All fighter wings, follow the jammer barrage in and target the enemy dreadnoughts. Focus on the following seven craft."

"Fleet, form up and begin the advance. Special units, stay back behind the shielding of your protecting craft, and stand by for my orders."

Andreson's fleet began it's strike against the invading Cornerian fleet.

"Leftenant! Get on the comm, and prepare to give the signal."
