Wpcbryans (3:08:33 PM): yeah sure. And just to make it official.

I Grand High Admiral Desco hereby declare the vessels, along with the Main Battle Station Borodin, of the Thirteen Republics and the Allied Nations Navy and their crews and officers the property of the Sparata Confederacy along with the Main Battle Station Borodin.
Because you would be growing in size by about double, you're now going to die.

And if a Bangbus forms, I swear to god I'm dragging out the strategic nukes.

A pirate attack on Sparata? And on the ERTC's day off? My, goodness, what ARE the chances. No reinforcements for him, I'm afraid...

I don't think, by any reasonable stretch of imagination, that you will enjoy these fleets for any prolonged time :P

Um, you tried to annex an entire industrialized nation with no diplomatic buildup nor any backing. You're going to get fucking raped if you go through with it, obviously.

He's talking about no reinforcements for you, since its customary to help pirated people.

Wait, Nitram, is your power capable of pirating his entire capital? :P

Well, there will be a buildup. Its not like there was a buildup to Cawbi getting banned. And I am just taking his fleets, not his planets. I just posted that so his planets would not be taken and his fleets destroyed.

With the forces needed to break the local warfleets? Yes. I could use another palace.

Folks, my power is a major force in the Galactic West. I am interested in keeping the West from invasion. You start annexing space around here, we come around, we comment about how things get broken real easily. We have this guy named Dinsdale, with the tactical nuclear warheads in his coat.

No, you aren't. You're not taking anything, I don't care what he says. His nation is collapsing into component fiefdoms and his fleet is getting carved up between them.

EDIT--

It seems like there are pretty much three regions to speak of in the galaxy. The Eastern part is dreamily allowing Thirdfain to dominate them, "the Center is the Entente is the Center," and the West is relatively untamed and the playground of the Corsairs.

Fine. If that is what the mods have declared, then so be it.

Pablo is one hundred percent right on the way that defunct powers are going to be handled. I know that personally, I am not looking forward to defunct powers to be claimed or given away via artificial OOC means. That would lead to some nations doubling over strength and really opens a door to some of the problems we had in STGOD 4. If a player decides to leave the game or he is kicked out, his/her nation will implode into several bickering fiefdoms giving no nation a military advantage.

Granted, the power will likely remain on the map and players can make efforts do get their hands on that territory (akin to what happened to the former AU) but the giving of fleets away and such is something that I don't think the mods are going to tolerate.

I've spoken with Marcao and this is how we're going to resolve the problem with the Gorn--consider this as being a compromise proposal written by the SKS Foreign Ministry.
Treaty of Gorn wrote: Being in the interests of promoting a compromise between the Gorn factions and ending the current civil war, the Gorn Constitution shall be modified as follows:

Code: Select all

I. Legistlature
The Legislature of Gorn shall be divided into two houses. Legislation may be proposed by any member of either body, but must be passed by simple majority in both house to become law. The same test will be applied to foreign treaties, declarations of war, et al.

The lower, or Popular house, will be elected by all Gorn over the age of 20 years, regardless of property or class. The election shall be conducted by secret ballot in 200 districts of equal size; after the preliminary election a run-off between the two most successful candidates will be held, the winner of the run-off will be the Representative for this district. The Popular house shall have the power to veto, by a vote of simple majority, acts of national and diplomatic policy enacted by the executive.

The upper, or Noble house, will be a 100-member body drawn from the current aristocracy. It will have the power to appoint the Executive.

II. Executive
The executive branch will be headed by a Hegemon, the holder of which office is to be selected by the Noble house. It will have those powers traditionally reserved for the executive, including the ability to appoint ministers and judges.

III. Bill of Rights
The new Gorn government is to enact a Bill of Rights, guaranteeing those fundamental rights that are recognized as essential to the maintenance of the modern republic. Freedom of speech, religion, press, etc. etc. The particulars of this Bill are to be determined by the Gorn legislatures not less than two years after its opening session.
In addition, the Three Suns Commonwealth and the signatories of its earlier ultimatum, as well as the United Terran Republic and other members of the Quadruple Entente agree to respect the neutrality and integrity of the Gorn Hegemony as constituted above, in perpetuity forever. Foreign military forces are to be withdrawn from the territory of the Gorn Hegemony, and the hyperspace lane through that nation will be open to navigation. Should control of the hyperspace lane or the stability of the Hegemony be disrupted by threat of piracy or invasion, neighboring nations will then be allowed to intervene.

By act of Mod, the Gorn factions have agreed to this treaty. Everyone else is expected to follow suit--and that will be the end of this matter. Effectively, the new government is supposed to be a do-nothing gridlock arrangement that will be unable to side with either the TSC or UTR, but will still be marginally capable of defending itself.

Now that this Gorn situation has been handled, and the AU invasion is over, what says everyone to a forewards time-jump of 6 months? This'll allow all the powers to consolidate their gains, give the new powers a chance to become a part of the galactic community without 12-post formal dinners with ever nation in the Galaxy, and everyone's recent build-ups to finish.

The game's slowed down a good bit, so I'd suggest a period to put out posts of what projects and so forth everyone's gonna have running for the 6 months, before we do a speed-up.

That is, if the esteemed mods think such a move is necessary?

If there are no objections to the Sabai, Stuarts, and Corsairs divvying up their new territory equally and continuing, I'm fine for a time warp.

It's just a step to the left..

Why is that, immediately after I say that Fisher can't have the territory, three other doofuses jump up and try to snatch it? Exploiting real-life circumstances for in-universe benefits is ten times as gamey as anything Kyle did. Would you be doing this shit if Desco hadn't been banned? No, you wouldn't.

So yes, I do object.

I assume SirNitram intends on invading. This is a fair enough cassus belli to any power which has the stones or the inclination to move in and counter them.

My apologies. I assumed you were smashing down on the practice of 'granting' power, instead of invading NPC states. We'll assume over the six months that all the useful infrastructure is destroyed by riots and fighting, then.

No, just always plays in my head at the words 'Time warp'.
