My DEW will alert me, and this Egg will be salavaged, so do not fear. Besides, if Earth is destroyed, lets just say, Galaxy in flames, anyone?

Anyone fucking with ALL of Earth at once can expect a very special type of bangbus. The sort which leaves the lube at home, and doesn't even apologize.

Is the suggestion here that someone has a star-destroying weapon? Because I'm pretty sure that continent busters are as big as they come in this game.

Well whatever happens.. Its not MY fault

I'm staying the heck out of the Sol system.
But im not so sure about Star collapsing weapons... It certain was a 'Trek' tech level device ;P

I am pretty sure they are just star diminishing, not destroying. The major thing is that it will probably spawn a fleet and a mass extractor. Weee!
Someone bring the giant robots, and Izumi Kick!

Actually, there's Trek-level Starbusting weapons in the form of Trilithium devices.

Why is it that in every STGOD someone goes through the back catalogue once or seldome used super-tech for x (in x universe tech level) and uses that as an excuse to deploy it?
I think it should go without saying that we're talking about status quo x universe tech here.

Maybe there is some cofusion here. Star trek had many completely absurd 1-off weapons that blew up stars, fucked around with time, and made planets explode.
We do not have these weapons.
SirNitram wrote:Those interested in giant BANGS can invest in one-shot planetary immolators of various designs. Rendering a planet uninhabitable costs 100 points..
We have these, and unless I miss my guess, you've got to get these weapons past planetary shields/defenses.

Already been there...
Nephtys wrote:Crossroads Inc. wrote:Nephtys, I HAVE to ask.. do you plan to play the "original" organic GunBuster bugs? Or the Hyper evolved Mechanical defence force from 10,000 years in the GunBuster future?
It's not really either! It's sorta both. But also sorta not. Like I redid their economy somewhat, and ajusted some stuff. It's now I guess 'very firmly based', with a few similar looking stuff from that artwork. So I dunno. Say, half and half.
Why? Are you going to deploy a single 1000 point giant robot? ;P

Since it
is looking like the galaxy's suddenly gotten much more hostile, I'd like to note that the current quick-reference is out of date for my race: the one I posted around page 49 is, however, still accurate if one treats the cap-defense points as regular points. Further edits I'm doing are just fluff and grammar correction. I've reproduced that bit of information here again for convenience and to prevent any misunderstandings:
Code: Select all
>>> Tanasinn : The Glorious Khurlassian Republic <<<
boisterous space squids
Upgrades : +130 ground combat (numerous, diverse, and ruthless)
+110 internal security (massive secret police force)
+40 propaganda (anti-occupation bonus)
+10 medicine (anti-bio-warfare)
Planets : 1 x 50 pt : Nalthar (CAPITAL)
2 x 30 pt : Norn, Sur
1 x 20 pt : Ellorn
1 x 15 pt : Tranquility
5 x 5 pt : Anvil, A Place, Colmer, Outreach, Shuss
'assorted minor outposts'
Ships : 5 x PC 1 combat + 1 speed 'Vigilance'
6 x DDZ 3 combat + 2 anti-cap 'Fury'
13 x DL 2 combat + 1 point-defense + 1 EW + 1 speed 'Reliance'
8 x CLE 9 combat + 1 speed 'Wraith'
5 x CLZ 8 combat + 1 anti-cap + 1 point-defense 'Ungol'
8 x CAE 10 combat + 2 EW + 2 point-defense 'Inquisitor'
18 x CAZ 10 combat + 3 anti-cap + 1 speed 'Bellicose'
6 x CC 13 combat + 1 interdiction 'Invincible'

2 x DN 32 combat 'Nova'
1 x BBZ 40 combat + 5 anti-cap + 2 EW 'Herilorn'

(5 x 2) + (6 x 5) + (13 x 5) + (8 x 10) + (5 x 10) + (8 x 14) + (18 x 14) + (6 x 14) + (3 x 21) + (2 x 20) + (1 x 32) + (2 x 32) + (2 x 32) + (1 x 47) + (1 x 47) =

What rock? What are you tactoring? I left lots of objects over there, so you might want to be specific. The big one of note is also in a coronal tail, so you might want to make note of that. It would be a true feat to discover it before it drifted in... as the thing is merely a radar blip, and so close to the sun, and hidden behind a comet tail, so I think a larger congratulatory remark is in order than "Good Job."
If you wanna work out the situation with me, send over a PM! That's how we hash out the details of encounters, is it not?

Thirdfain, relating to the developing incident in the Wysoka system:
The Polish response doesn't mention the frenzied voices coming from the first ship shouting for help in Arabic.

I'd just like to mention that I still haven't recieved a single PM, so I can't pose anything regarding the Sol area activities. I'd like to continue that RP, but people are really doing way too much supposing, and not enough communicating. Like, calling it a rock. Did I call it a rock? Did I ever say it was made of rock? Etc. The only rock mentioned in the post is an ice rock from the Oort cloud. If RedLeader wants to tactor that in, it's fine with me. But I'd like to have some degree of clarity.
Furthermore, the DEW only detects stuff in Redleader's space. How is it that their super network extends into the very core of Sol sector? That shouldn't be.

Yeah, how did you detect that specific one and grab it, btw? Do you have notable assets in the Sol System? Since that'd be hard then. but probably some majorly earth-based power is much more likely to see/grab it. Hrrrmmm. What to do next...

First contact, with a bang and a song from
Pirates of the Caribbean 3.
I think I deserve the "Most Stylish Introduction" award. It would go to consequences, but he already has the "Most Gruesome Introduction" award. The committee composed entirely of Myself has determined that persons not Me are not entitled to more than one award.
I wonder if UCBooties is crying in a corner because he, ruler of a pirate nation, did not think to employ the badassery that is
Hoist the Colours.

To repost what Thirdfain said, not to cast doubt on his authority to make this particular call, but to reinforce it:
No stealthy star killer weapons.
Mars was a quite formidable defence network and the Logos have excellent orbital long range scanner platforms as part of their tech, including devices far superior to radar.
1) Retcon the post to something less than a planet killing weapon.
2) If Redleader34 isn't all over you (first at the bit and all that) explain why my ships shouldn't be.

Redleader, no offense dude, but thats post of your smells like metagaming. There is plenty of time to play this out. You can't just go "Oh look I found you and you're evil. Fire lasers!" or whatever. The ship is travelling behind a rock; meaning they're going very very slow. You've got time to play it out; you can't just magically have a ship there.
And Imperial Overlord, I know you're a mod but I honestly don't agree that you should be 'all over him'. Covenant made a fair plan to sneak into sol cloaked and at extremely low speeds (I suspect there are hours, maybe days, of travel ahead of this thing). I don't know what his plans are with that object, since he is not allowed to use it to blow up or burn out the sun, but just because sol is well populated doesn't mean we just instantly win.
Just because I want to see that sneaky reptile caught doesn't mean I'm okay with metagaming to do it. Covenant offered up plenty of ways to get caught so lets try acutally playing the game, eah?

I'll slow down, and investigate this, but my DEW networsd has some outposts on the Earth sphere, after all, that would be like a ABM drefense that dosen't cover Washington DC.

What does me being mod have to do with it? I haven't posted in game that I'm all over him because I'm waiting to here his reasons. Yes, I think I would have spotted him. Mars has very good long range sensor platforms (which I paid points for) and Sol is very well patrolled and developed system which is currently on high alert due to multiple incidents and a high level diplomatic conference. I'm going to hear him out and we'll discuss it. If we can't come to an agreement it will get kicked over to Nitram to make a call because he's not an involved party.

I am the Overlord of Africa, after all, and as such, am a major power on Earth. This rock would seem funny, concerning how half of my Earth fleets are gone., and as such, I would feel concernd about the largest fly.

Would it? Err why would a comet seem 'funny'? People are more likely on the lookout for space ships. I suspect this thing would just be an 'unregistered' comet. I'd think it would be far more likely for some ship to go and try to mine it, rather than set off alarms that warrent the attention of patrol ships.
But maybe I'm wrong, I never took any astronomy - are comets out of the ordinary in a solar system?
