General Tarful (sp?) was created for ROTS.

And I write again (since someone seems to have problem reading ): Aurra Sing is a TPM character, she only entered EU stories afterwards.

Found some interesting differences between the Tantive IV's two looks. Seems it goes through a refit similar to the Enterprise:

Image

Engines shrink, neck-area grows, gets real cannons, change in sensor-dish, bigger cockpit-window etc.

Glad someone else noticed the discrepancies. It looks like they're using the EGVV design in some ways, actually.

And I already posted a picture. :P

But I posted a comparison. :P

could that be Tarfur as there's wookiee that has that name in Republic Commando.

In one of the leaked VD pages, it states that the clone commandos rescued the wookie general from Trandoshan slavers. Probably the same guy. They often add movie-characters/locations/vehicles into EU stories right before a new movie, so he still isn´t an EU-character just because he showed up in an EU source. Boba Fett and Admiral Ackbar were introduced in a similar way, but they aren´t counted as characters invented in the EU.

so that's why the corvette looked oddly oversized...

is there a non-SOD explanation for why the ship looks so different?

Perhaps they wanted to introducse some sort of lineage into the design, tie in the PT and OT a bit more.

Refits. If ST's Constitution- and Galaxy-class can have them, so can SW's CR-90 Corvettes.

The biggest difference between the two blockade runners is that the one in ANH had Star Wars and Playboy centerfold posters in the cockpit. Maybe that's why ROTS will get a PG-13! :P

According to Palpie's VD page, he does in fact keep his Sith identity a secret, as he is so beloved as Emperor Palpatine (he also views himself as a savior).

As to the Tarkin pic, just want to let people know that that's a promo pic, and he'll probably look much better in the film, than he does in that shot.

Agreed. It would have to be touched up before finishing, anyway, although you can tell Pygram has the right facial structure.

The uniform looks different, though. Different material, perhaps?

And color, it's a little duller than the ANH brand. The rank placard is different as well, not as angular.

Even if Palpatine says "When this Battle Station is finished...etc etc" in the film itself, it won´t mean a thing to the continuity. The DS gets a prototype built first and that´s that. They test it for a few years, then slowly build the real deal, making sure everything is perfect, while at the same time keeping it hidden from the Senate.

I wonder if there's going to be a background character in that scene which the EU will label as "Umak Leth" or "Bevel Lemelisk".

At MF.com, someone claiming to have seen the end of the film:
Then we see Vader and Sidious arriving on the bridge of Star Destroyer. The destroyer looks "almost" the same as the ones from the original episodes, the crew have "almost" the same uniforms and hats and the young captain is probably Tarkin - he looks very much like young Peter Cushing! (This is where the final trailer shot comes from.)
Could it be.... a Victory?

Nah, they´ll probably just make another Imperial-style destroyer. :P

The pages released of the comic seems to indicate that Anakin tells Obi-Wan to land his disabled Eta-2 inside the Separatist flagship (as it's getting eaten by buzz-droids). Obi-Wan tells him the shields are up, so Anakin fires his cannons at a structure on the outside of the ship and the shields apparently go down. This seems to be in the trailer- or at least, the bit after he fires- you can see an explosion on the side of a hangar, with air rushing out (while the Separatist quad turbolasers fire around the hangar).

Thoughts?

The relevant part of the trailer is after you see the Separatist mass driver fire (after the "chosen one!" shot). Run it through frame by frame.

In the teaser trailer, the two ships are heading into a hangar with air rushing out and debris flying, and there is a door closing fast. Yet, in other stills they are in the hangar with a forcefield door and an open view of the battle. Does this mean there are openings on both sides of the ship?

Those were probably only the hangar shields, and the ship had probably already taken quite a heavy beating in the hangar area (Republic forces wanted to be able to infiltrate the ship to rescue Palpatine), it's plausible for Anakin's fighter to be able to accomplish what it seemingly did.

I can't say I like the idea behind the buzz droids. If you can latch a droid onto the fighter's hull, why not equip it with an explosive? It'll finish the job easier.

As for the hangar, judging from looking at some of the Separatists' ships, they look like through-deck bays, with apertures on both sides of the hull.

I agree that they are being used in the wrong application, but the rationale behind them would be the difference between a scalple and a sword.

The buzz droids can de-claw a fighter aircraft, and shut down its engines without running the risk of killing the pilot. Making it a decent weapon for capturing.

Has anyone noticed that Imperial Tantave 4 has color closer to colors of Alderaan defence force (blood red, white and black) then the Republic one.
