He may be with out mechanika, however he's not with out his own abilities or ways of handling the trolls.

. I'm really confused, as I thought he was battling with another troll. That's what you get for posting so early in the morning (and how am I going to rationalize this fuckup in game, I wonder.)

Well, at least he got rid of the whelpling

Unless I am mistaken, that makes two adults down ( the big one with a crater burned through the chest, the lean one with his head vaporized) and at least two whelplings down (the two Arkady incinerated) plus perhaps one more?

Well I'm doing at least as crappily as you are

So far I have managed to be completely ineffectual, while getting wounded, and nearly hitting Auric in the head with an axe to boot. Your count seems about right, at least for the major trolls, though I don't remember the total number of whelplings to begin with or the number of those that we have killed.

EDIT: I think I know why I'm not doing so well. I keep changing my focus and try to do too much at once. A trend I am continueing by going to assist Auric by attacking a troll with a knife. Maybe this attack will work out

I aimed not the troll itself, but a spot which includes the troll's position in the 20 foot radius detonation, while leaving Guren out of it (I'm assuming that the three other PCs were much farther away than that).

I guess that this is the trouble with area-of-effect spells and playing by post : it's harder to get a good representation of the battlefield and the relative positions of the party and monsters.

It's easy to write off Arkady's mistake as being nerves; he did have a big nasty troll right on top of him. As it stands, all the whelplings should be dead now. Or mostly dead, at least.

Troll are freaking resilient. I mean, lets go through it: for the big, twelve foot troll, Auric shot him in the face and Guren shot him in the chest with a rune bullet, blowing a rather large, messy hole in his chest. I mean, the lightning bolt seems to have put him down for good, but damn.

The smaller male has had less punishment, but his must be mangled by now - Konrad shatted his jaw and Guren shot him in the face at rather close range. Let's not forget how Konrad hamstringed the bastard. Let's hope Arkady finishes him up quickly, because I'm pretty sure I'm out of spells (and Jump is going to wear off in a minute or two).

But the female, the female is nuts. She's had her spine split open, she's had her skin melted off and she's still trucking, and she's still putting the hurt on Auric and Konrad. Hopefully getting shot in the back of the head might persuade her to fall over so that our Kaptain can hack off her noggin.

Man, I love trolls.

Varying degrees of bruises and sprains. Konrad and Auric have a couple of broken ribs from being troll kicked and the rest of you have all sorts of fun injuries, depending on how badly you've been smacked around.

I hope that they won't regenerate a Lightning Bolt spell too easily. At least, the female should be wounded badly enough by my fireball so that she goes down, at least temporarily.

Oh BTW, do the trolls have good ears and sense of smell? I may want to gather them in the area of a single fireball with my Silent Image spell just in case they get to their feet before the area is evacuated. Though the smell and sizzling of their burned flesh might obfuscate that

I'm too busy being a crazy badass to care about things like line of fire. Seriously, they shouldn't have let gun mages have Jump. Or a lot of the other spells I'm allowed to pick from, like Bull's Strength. It's like the best class ever.

Anyways, Arkady's line was obvious, appropriate and brilliant. It was worth being electrocuted. Pity I didn't get to directly singe the bastard's brain, but no matter.
