Hum wonder how part three, which is on tonight is going to be?
Edit they have some screen shot of part three on http://stargate.mgm.com/ and man the one pic with the Lt and kid standing in front of the gates makes them look so geeky.

Athena wasn't a System Lord, though. Just a minor player. Stupid that they'd waste the name like that, but I suppose the logic was that she was just a pretender and that they shouldn't be allowed to coopt our names like that

Zeus himself also appears in the RPG for whatever value you might give that. Along with Rhea.
Another greek-goa'uld who's canon is Thanatos (invented Naquadriah, died) and of course, Apophis (yes, he's also Apep, but the name is greek) and Seth (who took up residence in Ancient Greece according to Jackson).
I would much preffer, if they have to have a divinity name, Egeria. I suppose (much like I assume Prometheus to have been, given the myth of his repeated excecution by Zeus) it's possible Apollo was a tok'ra.

Wasn't Egeria the name of the original Tok'Ra queen or is my memory playing tricks on me?

Perhaps such an insane speed is not sustainable for a long time?NecronLord wrote:
Atlantis with its speeds could easily travel a trillion light years in a mere thousand years (it could make three million a day in Enemy at the Gate), assuming adequate supplies. Destiny's FTL doesn't need to be any faster.
Because otherwise a Beliskner or O'Neill Class should be able to reach Destiny within days.

Yup, now all the gate symbols are constellations as seen from Earth's POV, minus the unique symbol as the point of origin.Jon wrote:In terms of nitpicking symbols on the gate, wasn't it the case in the movie that the Earth stargate and Abydos gate had completely different symbols altogether, not just a unique/different Point of Origin symbol- which was then retconned in the series?

On a fun side note, MGM has posted Daniel's SGC-Training videos on the official site. The first contains the complete, linear version of Stargate 101 and the other is the hyperspace video from the end of the scene. It's actually a clever bit of viral marketing for SGU; I hope it makes it onto the DVD.

Ahh, so Naquadria was the super-powerful core. So much for the Zero Point Energy Ancient theory.
I guess Icarus had more raw energy than 3 ZPMs could provide just with the mineral content of the planet.

It's Jodan, not Jordan. If you can't quote it right, I will mock you.

Yeah. And even with the 3 Atlantis ZPM's in their possession, it means Earth has no chance in hell of dialing Destiny on it's own.CaptJodan wrote:Ahh, so Naquadria was the super-powerful core. So much for the Zero Point Energy Ancient theory.

Eh. Doesn't really change anything on that front. It's still a power-source made by the Ancients that's got more output than ZPMs.CaptJodan wrote:Ahh, so Naquadria was the super-powerful core. So much for the Zero Point Energy Ancient theory.

It was a Goa'uld, and his experiment arguably would have destroyed the planet. IIRC he never quite got it right, and did in fact kill himself in an explosion.Stargate Nerd wrote:I thought it was the Goa'uld who created Naquadriah out of Naquadah?NecronLord wrote:Eh. The presence of this planet with a naquadriah core implies someone with a very advanced (Non-Goa'uld) Tech base created it. It's just too unstable an element to form naturally.

Still, Naquadriah is supposedly a heavier, less stable isotope of Naquadah and if we all remember 'Fallout', when you start to get to significant sized deposits deeper and deeper into the planet, eventually planet should go boom, otherwise if you only have a smallish deposit of the stuff, you'd expect it to decay back into regular Naquadah...
Re: StarGate Universe premiere 2 Oct (spoilers)
Going back to the videos, MGM's been uploading more. They're actually serving as a nice briefing for new fans by bringing them up to speed on the Stargate-verse mainstays like the Goa'uld or the Ancients (and Daniel's reactions to the topic of Ascension is priceless). Interestingly, one of the briefings is dedicated to the Lucian Alliance. I'll be honest, I'm still not buying the Lucian Alliance as the identity of the Icarus attackers; it doesn't make any sense -- or at least if we viewed them as the sole aggressors. Either they were manipulated into the attack or someone posed as them and I expect we'll get the answer before the season's end.

I'm not sure if it was said elsewhere in the thread, but how do we find the briefing videos?

Is is actually mentioned in the pilot that they found the planet in that state, or if it was the SGC who turned the Naquadah into Naquadriah based on what they know of the process?Zac Naloen wrote: The presence of this planet with a naquadriah core implies someone with a very advanced (Non-Goa'uld) Tech base created it. No, according to the transcript, it was naturally formed:Stargate Nerd wrote:Is is actually mentioned in the pilot that they found the planet in that state, or if it was the SGC who turned the Naquadah into Naquadriah based on what they know of the process?Zac Naloen wrote: The presence of this planet with a naquadriah core implies someone with a very advanced (Non-Goa'uld) Tech base created it. ...and...JACKSON: ... Icarus Base was established on a planet discovered two years ago to have a uniquely powerful core. The entire purpose of the project is to hopefully one day dial the nine chevron address found in the Ancient database.
Again, that's not to say that somebody didn't perform experiments on the core, be it the Ancients, Thanos, another Goa'uld or someone else entirely...RUSH: Look, it took us two years to find this site. The properties are unique. This may be our last chance.

It'll turn out the core was made that way by the Furlings, who will also be the big bad for Stargate Universe.
