No, just masturbate a lot...Of course I probably shouldn't have said that?Darth Wong wrote:You've been neutered?Captain_Cyran wrote:Geez....10 pages of this stuff....Hello by the way...I'm one of the few non-gay and not controlled by sexual urges guys you will see around here.![]()
Finding a job in theater is though. Here (in Italy) no "standing" theater company will even consider you if you haven't a poece of paper... what is worse is, there are no theatre course in most universities and most non-uni theatre schools will consider you only if you have a prior "degree", getting you in an horrible beaurocratic loop. And even then, you have to get lucky and find people to introduce you.Sylvar Fyre wrote:I'm not an actor though. ;) I'm a techie. I get to learn lighting, sound, and costume design, how to make a light plot, how to read a light plot, I get to learn a lot of electrician stuff, play analysis, directing...techie stuff. :)Larz wrote:I never understood the reasons behing taking theatre in college... if one just works at it they can learn to adlib, fake emotions, and memorize lines without having to pay over $1000. Does having a degree in theatre help to get theatre jobs or something?
And actually, jobs in teatre are so hard to get, and it's unbelievably competative, that it just looks a hell of a lot better if you have some degrees under your belt.
I'm not saying that's a sure-fire way to get a job, as I have a friend, an actor, who has a phd in theatre, and he still has trouble finding work. I have another friend who is currently working on his masters, and he already won a Jeff award (the Chicago version of the Tony's). He's a techie though.
edit...i'm not even planning on going into theatre after college...hehehe
I meant theatre techie stuff, like lights, costumes, etc. Techie for an actor, I mean... :lol:Darth Wong wrote:Re: "techie stuff". Technicians don't necessarily learn jack about science.

what´s a rennie?Sylvar Fyre wrote:I never said they did.Darth Wong wrote:Re: "techie stuff". Technicians don't necessarily learn jack about science.![]()
And Rennie's don't necessarily use science, so s'all good.
I'm a little turned off from the sciences however, seeing as how I nearly didnt graduate high school because I nearly failed biology...
People who like to go to Rennesaince Festivals. I know a few rennies, though they tended to do well in the sciencessalm wrote:what´s a rennie?Sylvar Fyre wrote:I never said they did.Darth Wong wrote:Re: "techie stuff". Technicians don't necessarily learn jack about science.![]()

I can vouch for that, esp in the computer industry. I am a low level computer tech, yet I know next to nothing about science, yet this does not mean I cannot become very good at what I do at a much higher level. The way I see it, Technicians are NCO's and have technical qualifications, and the degreed boffins {mainly the management types} are the orificersDarth Wong wrote:Re: "techie stuff". It's been a while since I've looked at this thread...and I resent that. Muchly.EmperorMing wrote:I was including Verilon. I was not paying attention to Lusankya.Stormbringer wrote:I think he's referring to Lusankya. She vanished a while back.aerius wrote:

Heh; don't forget violin!Kelly Antilles wrote:The easier answer is what instruments can I not play.
I'm not that good at strings, but I'm sure verilon would give you viola lessons.
And sure, I'll give private lessons. $125 and hour.
*thwaps Larz* Hey! Anyways, as I haven't looked at this since page...1....I am a COmp Sci major with a Russian minor and I play violin and viola *smacks Larz' contemporary skills* and write fantasy (not lemons) and poetry, as well as music *thwaps Larz' contemporary skills again* and love it!Larz wrote:And the thread that started out as a welcoming party has become a descusion about logical education vs artistical education and musical abilities...... oh well. On the logical side my college major is Chemistry with a minor in Premed... so my logical base better be stronger than titanium at the end! However, I still do arts as a hobby (charcol/graphite drawings, poetry, music... and if I could afford the time and money I'd take up painting again). As for music... I play mainly the only worthy insturment, the guitar :: smacks Verilons viola playing skills :: Past that I can play simple clarinet, french horn (very out of practice), trumpet (extraordinarly out of practice), simple drums (on good days), some bass (electric...:: smacks verilons classical string insturment playing::... not classical bass) and if I can play simple Sitar, Banjo, and Mandoline (probably all spelled wrong). Arn't I so spezial!

I don't speak for SB.com but I am member and have seen what goes on there. They made a SD.net vs SB.com thread that was no more than an excuse to make attacks on Mike.Dark Primus wrote:Since when did you speak for the entire SB board?Stormbringer wrote:

Of course, because they prefer that kind of weaselly bullshit to the much more manly but foolish approach of challenging me directly and then getting their asses kicked.Stormbringer wrote:They may be a minority but they are a vocal and active minority.
