I'm not an actor though. ;) I'm a techie. I get to learn lighting, sound, and costume design, how to make a light plot, how to read a light plot, I get to learn a lot of electrician stuff, play analysis, directing...techie stuff. :)

And actually, jobs in teatre are so hard to get, and it's unbelievably competative, that it just looks a hell of a lot better if you have some degrees under your belt.

I'm not saying that's a sure-fire way to get a job, as I have a friend, an actor, who has a phd in theatre, and he still has trouble finding work. I have another friend who is currently working on his masters, and he already won a Jeff award (the Chicago version of the Tony's). He's a techie though.

edit...i'm not even planning on going into theatre after college...hehehe
Finding a job in theater is though. Here (in Italy) no "standing" theater company will even consider you if you haven't a poece of paper... what is worse is, there are no theatre course in most universities and most non-uni theatre schools will consider you only if you have a prior "degree", getting you in an horrible beaurocratic loop. And even then, you have to get lucky and find people to introduce you.

Also, even an actor has to know the basics of the "techie stuff" and technicals like correct diction and pronuciation (sp?) so a little course is in order.

That said, I've only brushed the theater thingy, being only an amateur-level actor, and that only when I have time off from Physics courses.

I meant theatre techie stuff, like lights, costumes, etc. Techie for an actor, I mean...

I never said they did. ;)

And Rennie's don't necessarily use science, so s'all good.
I'm a little turned off from the sciences however, seeing as how I nearly didnt graduate high school because I nearly failed biology...

I've been to a "Rennisance Festival", except it was "Wild West Weekend" there. Think mideval-style buildings and cowboys on the street.

I can vouch for that, esp in the computer industry. I am a low level computer tech, yet I know next to nothing about science, yet this does not mean I cannot become very good at what I do at a much higher level. The way I see it, Technicians are NCO's and have technical qualifications, and the degreed boffins {mainly the management types} are the orificers :)

I was including Verilon. I was not paying attention to Lusankya.
It's been a while since I've looked at this thread...and I resent that. Muchly.

What he said does carry weight. I haven't seen the name "Wong" mentioned in at least a month.

I play mainly the only worthy insturment, the guitar :: smacks Verilons viola playing skills :: Past that I can play simple clarinet, french horn (very out of practice), trumpet (extraordinarly out of practice), simple drums (on good days), some bass (electric...:: smacks verilons classical string insturment playing::... not classical bass) and if I can play simple Sitar, Banjo, and Mandoline (probably all spelled wrong). Arn't I so spezial!
*thwaps Larz* Hey! Anyways, as I haven't looked at this since page...1....I am a COmp Sci major with a Russian minor and I play violin and viola *smacks Larz' contemporary skills* and write fantasy (not lemons) and poetry, as well as music *thwaps Larz' contemporary skills again* and love it!

There's been a lot of that going on forever. My favourite was the way they bragged that their board moderators didn't abuse the WCOTC Nazis the way we did ... as if a lenient policy toward white-supremacists is something to be proud of. Anything to claim some kind of tribal superiority, I suppose ...
Maybe another reason for me NOT to go there...

Well, we did start some anti-WCOTC threads, but our admin closed all of them. Arminius and Cabal trolled around our forums but our members basically argued them back to their own boards, although Arminius occasionally posts from time to time (He's mellowed out a bit).

I think what they meant by not abusing the nazis was editing their posts. I've looked around here and saw that some of the WCOTC people's posts and profiles were changed into stuff like "Donkey-raper" or "Asshole". The people over at SB didn't edit the intruders' posts or their profiles. Basically we sent them packing with our words.

I'm not trying to put down any one board here. It's just that SB is more laid back, the admin staff I mean. Also it's like the United States; there are more people there and of greater variety too, so things can often get quite chaotic.

Here everyone's a Star Wars fan, so you have some uniformity and stability here. Also the admin staff is more involved (Darth Wong/Admiral Kanos comes to mind).

That's my take on our two forums. Call me a liason, if you wish ^_^

I don't speak for SB.com but I am member and have seen what goes on there. They made a SD.net vs SB.com thread that was no more than an excuse to make attacks on Mike.

They may be a minority but they are a vocal and active minority. They've got a grudge against Mike and take any chance they have to bash him, his site, and this message board.

Of course, because they prefer that kind of weaselly bullshit to the much more manly but foolish approach of challenging me directly and then getting their asses kicked.
