Remember that in a campaign you don't need to buy an admiral, you start with a green one and he gets experience.

You're welcome. I guess I have a healthy case of paranoia.

What about Chaos Lords and Marks of Chaos? Do I need to gain those with experience as well? Or can I start with?

I'm not familiar with Campaign rules.

A quick question on re-rolls. Do we start with any, and can they be used for anything, or just special action rolls?

I would really enjoy playing some BFG. It's been many months since alien and heretic fleets felt my Imperial broadsides! But seeing as how the campaign's been pretty well set up, I'll just watch, and root for the forces of (debatable) good!

Ok, I won't be paranoid. Behold, my fleet.

Admiral Thesaurian commanding. Incidentally, he provided a useful ship-naming book.

Battleships

Titanic
1x Emperor-class battleship with Shark boat upgrade 350 pts.

Grand Cruisers

Reliable
Reputable
2x Governor-class grand cruisers 2x250 = 500 pts.

Cruisers

Stalwart
Staunch
2x Dominator-class cruisers 2x190 = 380 pts.

Potent
Powerful
2x Tyrant-class cruisers with range upgrade 2x195 = 390 pts.

Escorts

Squadron Sword-A
-3 frigates
Squadron Sword-B
-3 frigates

6x Sword-class frigates 6x35 = 210 pts.

Squadron Firestorm-A
-2 frigates
Squadron Firestorm-B
-2 frigates

4x Firestorm-class frigates 4x40 = 160 pts.

Transports

Our six free transports.

350 + 500 + 380 + 390 + 210 + 160 = 1990 pts.

NOTICE: I added the +5 Shark upgrade to my Emperor-class, changed my battlecruisers to Governor grand cruisers, my Gothics to Tyrants with the +10 range upgrade, and removed my armed freighters.

So throw your lot in. Half of us don't even have fleets set up yet, and I'm sure the addition of an experienced player couldn't hurt.

EDIT:
StarshipTitanic, you should add squadrons of Shark Assault Boats to your Emperor-class for an extra 5 points, seeing as you have 15 points free. I'm sure a bit of versitality couldn't hurt...

Alright, I'll try and come up with a fleet list tonight. See how many torpedoes I can unleash in a turn...

Do we have an Ork player yet?

I wonder do we have a "Grand Fleet of the Space Commies" yet?

Thanks! Didn't think of that.

Mmmm, I can feel the ordnance launching already. And yes, I do enjoy all the latin that I put into the names. However, if you do know latin, please tell me if the names make sense, as I'm not sure some of them do.

Draco Invictus
1x Emperor-class Battleship 345 pts

Battlecruisers

Dominus Fortis
Novus Ordo

2x Overlord-class Battlecruisers - 2*235 = 470 pts

Vox Vocis

I'm not familiar with Campaign rules.
Admirals gain renown after each battle and that gives them Ld increases/rerolls/Marks of Chaos. Pages 152-153 of the BFG rulebook in the Aftermath part of the Campaign rules.

Feil, I believe the falchion's you have should come to 105, but it's such a tiny point I feel like a moron bringing it up. On another point, I like how these fleets are looking. I'm just wondering, Hellion, where did you find rules for the Black Ships?

Specifically, here are rules for the Black Ship among other interesting designs.

As an observer, I notice you guys have cap-heavy fleets. A quick read of the rules suggested to me that escort groups would be cheap and relatively useful?

Can we build ships that are historically ancient, like the grand cruisers?

I think we're all afraid of building too useful a fleet that can be obliterated in the beginning if someone simply uses their starting points for cap-heavy fleets, as you put it.

Plus, it will take all of us a while to build up the infrastructure to mass-produce the big ships but we have enough to keep escorts coming. We start with one Homeworld that produces 30 pts. per turn. If I focus my starting shipyard to producing Cobra destroyers (60 pts. build cost) I can make one every two turns. To build a Lunar cruiser, I'd need 360 pts. and even if I devoted an entire shipyard to building it, it would still take 3 turns.

I'll go for either Necrons, or Tyranids. I have one Tyranid fleet designed for maximum ordnance launch capability. omething like 34 torps per turn, and ~15 small craft markers.

Due to the wonderful Tyranid ability to automatically reload ordnance, I can launch that every turn. Those things are slow as can be, and my main ships have almost no other weapons, but I can cover the map with ordnance.

Or just go with a Necron fleet that has several Shroud cruisers (effectively a stealth ship) for plotting of in-system jumps, and ~750 pts of Scythes and escorts to deliver targeted kills.

Wait, what? I thought you only got reinforcements from appeals?
