Man, this sucks. I never meant for my rantings on the geostigma to have these reprecussions!

What if I retcon the Shroomanian reply to "The Prime Minister's private statements pertaining to 'the geostigma infestation of Shinra' and the 'disfigurement of President Rufus' have no bearing on official Shroomanian foreign policy."?

It's Steve's fault for pretending it's actual-factual Shroomanian policy, and I replied in-kind! Which is a mistake!

On the subject of Misteria, I'd like to point out that this is a country that's apparently in a state of brutal civil war. From what we've been told I gather that former government forces and communist militias have been fighting for control of the capital for some time before the UCSR even arrived, so it's hardly likely that Empyrean City was in pristine condition before bombing began. To contribute all damage to the city to UCSR air strikes is hardly reasonable or for that matter honest.

STEVE and ROGUEICE:

Can we retcon the whole geostigma exchange? I think I prefer Steve's 'it's just Shroom being his usual self and the world gets to shake its collective head at "those wacky Shroomanians".' suggestion.

PRETTY PLEASE?! :(

These rantings on the geostigma and Rufus' DISFIGUREMENT were never meant to be serious anyway! Hell, I even did that when Shroom visited Shinra and RogueIce just chalked it up to 'Shroom-o-Vision'. Which is totally true anyway!

EDIT:

SDNWorld has precedents for rapid-retconning!

Works for me. President Shinra will simply shake his head sadly and wonder about the mental health of PM Shroom, yet again. Especially since we were face to face what, a year ago? And I wasn't wheelchair bound.

But then, we're rather used to the...oddities...of PM Shroom by now. So long as it's not official policy, we'd let it slide.
DarthShady wrote:You are going to judge this by pictures??? :wtf:

Yeah those pictures are the real deal and not something randomly found on the internet and then posted to help describe the situation a bit more colorfully.

The UCSR bombed NDF troops which were dug in, in certain locations across the city, as per Pollux's post. We knew their location and guided weapons were used, collateral damage is minimal. Jesus fucking Christ, I didn't nuke the fucking place.
Well that and his words lead to the impression of it being a ruined city, with nobody there. His results bit includes, "Empyrean City (or rather, what is left of it)" which indicates more 'lots of destruction' rather than 'surgical strikes on selected targets'.

Dude, you can't expect Pollux to know 100% what damage the bombings would cause. He's probably just describing what he thinks is good storytelling. He's not a military nut like some of us(at least to my knowledge :P ), so he can't be expected to be a hundred percent accurate in his descriptions.

I guess so. I suppose overall I'm just disappointed; it's set up with 80,000 guys fighting the government, and then three game days later it's "yay we won!" which is rather lazy. Granted I let my own Rangatara thing slide off into the background due to RL stuff, but I first made the "I'm intervening" post 25 October, and then did the "yay we won!" post 22 November; in the old time scale, the better part of a year. And that was a part of the military rebelling against the government, not this NDF thing in the midst of a broader civil war.

So seeing it neatly resolved in the course of less than a week is, well...frustrating.

The guy said that he thought the rest of us were getting fed up with the whole Misterian situation, and with so many guys itching to nuke him if their diplomats were killed, you can understand why he wanted to end it quickly before his entire country went to shit. Although this isn't over yet, there's a lot of clean up work to be done.

Nobody was going to nuke him. Well, not me. Yeah I'd be upset if my diplomats got overrun, but I'm not pulling out the nukes. Unless it's you overruning them. Because you're special.

I dunno though. A bloody little guerilla war doesn't sound like such a bad idea. Weren't there still some limited loyalist forces out there, too? *shrug* Just sweeping away 80,000 armed and angry radicals in a few days just doesn't feel right, even if I do understand his OOC motivations for it.

EDIT: I mean, even if you want to just shove it into the background, wait awhile in game time and then say Mission Accomplished (aka the RogueIce Method of Lazy Storytelling) that's cool. I just don't like it when a major armed conflict gets wrapped up in a couple days. Doesn't seem right, you know? :)

That's really up to Pollux to decide, how far he goes with it.

The SHAFT and the SSS are most concerned in light of this breech of the Sovereign's sanctity and we are not amused.

Ah, but it's hardly over yet, you see. There are ~7,000 of the NDF guys fleeing into the countryside, where they will try to melt into regular, civilian life again.

Let's just say some of them won't be hiding forever.

Addressing the choice of pictures, yes, I chose pictures of a devastated San Francisco for the in-joke value and because, well, they look more dramatic than "occasional crater here and there." :P Imagine those are particularly badly hit regions of the city, if you will.

Will he have big spiky blonde hair when he takes off his ninja-mask? Or will he be an effeminate androgynous albino with long-silver hair? :D

He's holding a katana-thing, so I'm leaning on the latter.

But it doesn't matter. Rufus can totally toss Jenova's head off a building and then after the ninja goes after it, Rufus can also JUMP OFF THE BUILDING and start shooting with his SWORDGUN!

But this is AFTER he reveals to all that he WASN'T actually DEFORMED or WHEELCHAIR-BOUND!

Shroom, if we're retconning the entire thing that includes my news post, otherwise your reaction makes no sense given the news post regards reported public policy by the Shroomanian government.

Since everyone keeps asking me we don't need to lock this thread except for visual value as the board no longer tries to search the entire thread when we move/edit/post to threads but only the page your on. This is a benfit of the new board software that we can let threads like Armageddon run for two thousand or more posts without having to lock it or make a new comment thread.

So, my SECRET SPY NETWORK told me that Steve's become the mod. Good on him, he's probably the most neutral guy available.

EDIT: Steve, if you're willing, I would be amenable to working on my OOB with you to address any...flaws that certain people may consider the end of the world.

Also, if everything's a little calmer now, I'd like to get the map finished. And I would really appreciate it if everyone would leave the outbursts and grudges at the door so I -can- get the kinks ironed out to everyone's satisfaction.
