On the Aly note. ALY STOP!
Why? who the fuck cares, there needs to be someone that knows the hostility of those worlds.

Here's an idea: Since this whole matter is relatively unimportant, why don't we all take a step back, stop posting, breathe, and wait for a mod to come in?

Any objections?

Alyrium, if you think nasty giant fish are even going to slow down modern indusrtrial exploitation, you've got another thought coming.

No, it's alright I don't mind, I said he could have on Robot, and he did. Fair is fair.

As for before I would note that Rogue said/did/moved absolutley nothing in support of Aly. In fact the only thing he did during the entire Tortuga affair was release a semi-damning note about the Etern. In essence he backed down from supporting an Ally in face of external pressure.

I am back lovelies!

I lost the computer for a time in order to do some things that I had to do. Now, that I am back I will throw in my two cents on the Monacoran/Asgard actions about the Atlanteans worlds.

It is considered to be the height of impoliteness to simply teleport forces around the game, irregardless of distances and so on. Please, cease and desist with the "weee! my fleet teleports to the location and we claim the Atlanteans territories for king and country!". I am not inclined to accept them.

A few points.

1. Since the Atlanteans were part of the UPA, it is not unlikely to believe that the UPA got first word of the Atlantean decision to leave.

2. if you want to claim the worlds, by all means do so but claiming them from your homeworld and magically appearing over them is another thing entirely.

3. if we are to believe that the Monacoran and Asgard fleets, left X amount of time before, and just now arrived I have no problem believing that some UPA nation got there first.

Ultimately, I have no problem with the Monacoran and Asgard desires for the formerly Atlantean worlds. I am simply unsympathetic to how they are going about it.

If they don't have shielding and antitank weapons, it really doesn't matter.

Well, doesn't matter. I mean we're strip mining the planet either way...

Bullshit. I sent weapons and I was pirate hunting. Had it come to war, I would have been there. What did you expect me to do, preempt against you on his behalf?

"We stand against this unfounded aggression that is being directed at our close ally over the punishment of a few measley pirates. We will stand with the Draconis Republic through out whatever may take place as result of these extortionary techniques."

Or maybe even send over a fleet to help Garrison Tortuga...

How about we not fuck around with the Atlantean worlds because there is no reason to do so?

Straha, Stormbringer, you need to get over this "OMG avaleable planets!!!11" psychosis, because the former Atlantean planets are worthless to any normal terrestrial species except as a tourist trap. The Atlantean's ideal gravity and temperature range are more than double the human comfort level and all the minerals are under kilometers of water. This means that whatever exploitation you plan to set up is will take years to build and will be unfeasibly expensive to maintain.

In many cases more planets is not better but rather dilutes their fleet counts in that you are obligated to defend planets on which you ostentatious planted your flag.

Read up on the Falkland Islands War sometime. The United States didn't come charging to Britain's rescue despite being a close ally. Does this make the U.S. not Britain's ally?

Come on, there was no need for my ships there just to help against the Tortugans.

This bickering is pointless, you guys are just TGODing now. Stop posting on Atlantis for at least an hour and take a step back to see how stupid this incident is.

Hey, I'm just planning to strip mine the damn things untill I can strip mine no more. And seeing as what's going to come do you think that maybe this could also thought of as a timed political action in consequence to the galaxy around us?

But Britain hadn't just recieved a message from China, the UN, Russia, Japan, Germany, etc. that unless they got their rear end out of the Falklands war would develop, now did they?

Well than say it isn't sitting well with you, or else I'm just going to wait for the Atlanteans to return and then tell them that they should have left a note on the refridgerator saying they'd be back!

A) Asgard are heavy grav worlds (like the Meyherdal from the Honorverse), while it won't be comfortable it will be survivable.

B) I don't much give a damn about the planets except as a potential place from which to base fleets from.

C) Why the hell not claim them? I've done crazier and got away with it.

SHUT UP!

I move that the entire incident me stricken from the record. It is all silly TGODing. In all fairness, Rogue9 should get there first, if anyone does get there at all. While Straha's move is somewhat legit, he didn't post a set-up, making this officially silly. And bluepeace? Come now. That's just silliness. And strip-mining underwater? There are much better planets, you are just doing this intentionally to piss on SharkBait's ashes. Not cool. Let's everyone take a deep breath. Aly and Straha, go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.
