*sigh* Next time, RedLeader, bee a little more careful with my boys. Seriously, sending a bunch of urban warfare specialists and armoured troops through the train tunnel was not the best move. The plasma bombardment, also a terrible idea- wee could have taken this with conventional weapons alone.

Plasma bombardment, nukes...

Africa's just gonna break away and beg for someone to liberate them, I think, at this rate.

We'll see. Some nations have a significant interest in seeing Africa remain in TGA hands, and the fact that at least some of the resistance movements were based almost entirely on Polish money and support will help keep the peace.

Foreign intervention may save Africa.

As the killcounts skyrocket and the infrastructure is continuing to be obliterated, I begin to wonder if anyone will remain in Africa for the TGA to try and rule. The refugee situation will be becoming horrific.

That depends on the character which the rest of the fighting takes. The Uche has a largely loyal class of wossnames, the cyber critters, as well as general peace on West and East Africa. The Afrikaaners have shot their wad without Polish money and weapons, and if I increase my troop deployments, I think it likely that resistance from the Straltoc-hired mercs will be of numbered days.

I mean, that of course can all change at a moment's post...

I'll take on some refugees.

Mwuahahahaha, my.... err... I mean my mercenaries plan is going perfectly. Better than perfect in fact! Getting the Polish urban warfare specialists trapped in the train was a godsend, and having the TGA deep nuke their own infrastructure was a better response than they ever could have hoped for. Considering that their entire plan was to turn Africa back into the humanitarian nightmare hellhole of the 20th century, a playground where amoral beings can make money killing and being killed for petty warlords, things seem to be going swimmingly. For now they're going to go quiet, let the big boys clean things up while the hate and resentment simmers before coming back in a few years to help start the cycle again.

Veterans, can you tell me, is it always this fun to be a complete bastard?

Yes.

Oh, god, yes.

And you got lucky indeed, Academia. If I hadn't been so busy in real life... *shakes fist*

If it hadn't been for those pesky kids, eh?

I can see it in game now.

Polish Commander comes out of the washroom waving a newspaper and spraying air freshener: "I thought I told them to take the boiled cabbage off the menu! Now, situation report!"

Sub-officer: "Well, as ordered, we followed the instructions of the TGA while you were... indisposed. So we loaded our troops onto the battle train they provided..."

Commander: "WHAT! Who the fuck brings a train into a city assault?"

SO: "Apparently the TGA. The train was subsequently bombed, trapping our men in a collapsed, radioactive tunnel. The rear lines are now suffering alien attack and... yes, yes, the TGA has begun plasma bombing their own city."

Commander: "AAAAAAA!!! Did all their competent commanders defect?"

To be honest, I'm confused on what's going on in Africa. It seems to be total bedlam to me. :p

The Poles are being mined out,,so don't scream about your poles. If I loose Lagos, its bad, but not tragic. I have more cities in Mali and Toogo, after all. One advantage of not building megacities, is that ReConstruction is easy. Since your "Rebelion" is only in the East, I'll be forced to rebuild the Fire Control Centre, and move Earth Defense to the Border.

I am so going to make those Stralotic Pay *shakes fist*

So let me see if I get this straight. There's a cluster-fuck in Africa and Space Monsters are hanging-out near Sol. Man, there goes the neighborhood.

For those who're curious, no, my big block of text contains no vital must-read material. It's largely fluff material. :)

At least this should make real estate prices plummet. I'll be able to afford an extra nice embassy, with a little zen garden out back. Maybe pick up a condo in the burbs, something white, with hunter green shutters, continue my forbidden love affair with my courier ship, that sorta thing.

Have you not been paying attention? Sol is like cluster fuck central, the neighbourhood went away several pages ago, and the Poles are at the centre of things. So far they've managed to capture several pirate ships with underhanded tactics, are protecting the Herald's neutrality from the NGTO, may very well have a war with the League of Thought upcoming, and seem to be involved in agitation in Africa. That is on top of the Hegemony firing on a diplomatic ship, the arrival of Neph's space monsters, and the African civil war. Sol should be renamed "Fire Magnet".

Oh, and I eagerly await your response Redleader :D

If I may, I have a suggestion that may remedy two of the difficulties our honorable Terran players are facing. First, allow a few of the space monsters currently flitting about Mercury to travel to Earth. Then, as a diplomatic offering, let them eat Africa. Problems solved.

:)

I'd like to make a post or two regarding my reactions to a sizable alien fleet entering the sol system; I suspect it would be best if I hold off until everything is 'sorted' out though, eah?

I have some justice here. You, sir, have just won it.

Having looked at the Sol/Swarm situation, my current intention is to let the 'days' hang and the first signs of action being the fleet sending miners towards Mercury. I have discussed with Nephtys that, yea, they'll basically sit there while everyone targets and tries to communicate. Unless anyone is going to close to combat range and/or try extreme-range missile fire, I'm inclined to rule that a few days pass where everyone's panic'd, GNN gets to use it's 'SOL IN CRISIS' logo and bring in retired Polish Generals for analysis, and people are busily saying 'WTF?!' to each other, and we go from reacting to the mining begins.

I will now hear objections from the Sol members.

It's not my preferred solution, but I can live with it.

Ok. NGTO command will be six hour ish behind due to the comms delay (at +20 comms), so they'll have had time to come up with some emergency plans in case this fleet squashes earth like a bug. I'll do a post about that later.
