"My navy uses missle pods. We can set up your battleships with some if you like, could your software handle controling them?" Asked the Lord Protector.

"Agreed," said Admiral Blessinger. "We need to find them now, before its too late. We don't have the time or resources to spend refitting entire fleets with equipment schemes that might not even work."
"A wise voice, Admiral." Jerac nodded slightly, a sign of great respect coming from one of the only three full Admirals in the Hajr. "

"WE understand what you are saying. My full proposal would be this. As is coming up on the viewer now we would keep a large concentration of ships far back from our home worlds, possibly in our bases in deep space. Some ships would be refurbished, others would be sent to hunt for planets from which they came. This would allow for us to find systems, be ready for us to hunt them down, and have specialized fleets dedicated for battle against them.
"Allow me to suggest an alternative. All vessels are assigned to eitheer patrol the home worlds, or are sent out in fast reaction forces towards the rim. Meanwhile, we will question Floaters for news of passing fleets, and your own assorted intelligence agencies will do the same on planets and among the Bound populations across Known Space. We will try in that manner to ascertain the direction from which the enemy came, and then use the resources and time which would otherwise be squandered rebuilding our fleets to produce great fleets of robot-probes to search the area for signs of the Machine-Enemy."
"Great fleets of robot-probes?" Drealaan considered the numbers, "The numbers we would need, even if we did know the basic direction in which our quarry was, is that even within our capacity?" he considered for a moment. "I would much prefer to see the outcome of a full scientific report before I went ahead and decided how to best locate the machines."

"Our Kincaid drive, while slower than most FTL systems, is also quite compact. We could provide engines, and the probes could be even smaller than our Kincaid torpedoes. We could build hundreds of thousands, if we pooled our resources, at only moderate cost to each of our powers."

"It would certainly be a publics works project on a massive scale; and there are many dead worlds which could be used to build such devices; after all, they are not for combat, only the most basic equipment would be needed." he paused, it could work, "However, I doubt you'll find any government ready to pass over 30% of its industrial capacity to a fools hope when building warships is a much more understandable offer. I must, however, agree, questioning the locals would be the best course of action, a fleet of that size simply can not pass through the Terran Sphere unnoticed."

"I could agree to the idea of building probes. Data gathered from the probes should be shared equally to. We wouldn't have to devote that much of our industry. Not if they're that small..."

"Who said anything about using 30% of any power's industrial capacity? We will split the construction up amongst ourselves."

"If everyone used say 5% for example, that's still a large amount of probes being created. Add in questioning the locals and we'll be able to narrow down the area quite a bit."

"I think we have reached some sort of consensus. We will split up the production, and begin scouring Known Space and beyond, through both technological means and human interaction. The rest of you- Do you agree?"

The emperor, High admiral Nakema and admiral conner sat at the table with the various delegates.

The emperor spoke.

"We could send ships out to find them. The third fleet's casualties were rather light weren't they admiral conner?"

Admiral conner responded.

"Yes, out losses can be replaced in a few weeks time if the shipyards move at full war footing."

The emperor spoke again.

"Here is my plan, the third fleet, once it's losses have been replaced, will spread out through various sectors of territory to find any possible trace of these machines. Since their ships will be spread so thinly, standind orders will be to scan for as much data as possible, and then get the hell out of dodge so the data can be brought back for study."

The Atlantians who had remained silent for most of the discussion just observing discussed between themselves for a short time what such a plan would mean then the ambasador spoke "If we were to recieve plans on the basic construction of said probes we would have our factories on Rock Ledge begin producing them as soon as possible"

"I must agree." Drelaan agreed.

After the conference he went up to the head of the council, asking to speak with the political prince (or whomever is left in charge) before the end of the day.

The Overseer was analyzing the playback from it's most recent assault on the filthy Organics. All seven cores thought in unison. Playback it had received showed devstating efficiency; it had lost no vessels until the counterattacks had begun from the Organics. Could it engineer a similar situation when it had replenished it's ships? Perhaps. It needed to convince the slimy, squishy beings that all was not as it seemed. How to do that, how to do that...

It briefly turned it's myriad sensors to the planet it had converted into a fortress. Hidden from the edges of Known Space, the world was now a stronghold. It would force invaders down onto the surface, into the Overseer's realm. It had been terribly pleased about that. This place was a stroke of pure GENIUS! Genius only it, the Overseer, could attain, of course.

What had it been thinking about? Oh yes. The Organics. Their slimy, squishy, soggy brains were probably being wracked with the ponderance of how to find it's Godlike avatar, it's physical manifestation.

Why not help them a little?

The Ambasador then spoke to the Lord Protector directly stating "We know you have been somewhat interest in forming diplomatic relations with us, and we would more than like to as well. Unfortunate cirucumstances do stand in our way but perhaps now that a consensus has been reached we can discuss these things and fordge a new friendship."

"A grand event is to take place on my carrier" the ambasador said the "greatest of all contests and festivals known to us. Our troops are quite disspleased that I have had to reschedual it once allready I fear I would be ousted if I did again. it would be an honor if you would attend this event seeing as how we cannot put it off."

The Military Prince leaned back.

"There is one thing before you go. The forces on the ground were pretty... good... if they hadn't been dropping down from space, and if we hadn't been blasting the battle-field with every last sort of ECM known to man we would have had quite a fight. Though the ECM and EMP tactics are effective, we do not relish the opportunity to fight them on the ground once more, though we are more then willing to provide infrastructure and the ground forces for this operation."

Aber-Toril

The damaged and destroyed Arcane vessels were placed in the Shaping yards, ready to be repaired. Just as the 8th and 6th fleets arrived back in system, their brigs loaded with prisoners... All of them Symbiotes.

The emperor sighed....

"We will also begin building and launching probes."

"But I believe that whatever attacked earth has been weakened by the loss of so many ships. We need to strike fast. That's why the third fleet has been given additional patrol destroyers equipped with some of the most advanced sensor equitment known to us. They are essentially search frigates."

The Prince was immeadietly informed. Drelaan was soon taking to one of the Prince's private offices, one that unfortunatley over looked out apon the sky and on the mountains nearby. It was not a pleasent sight. The Prince, nonetheless, greeted the visitor cheerfully.

"Hello, what can I do for you?"
