Anyway, for something more on topic, I'm downloading the Eve demo all the talk around here makes it seem worth a try and anything that isn't WoW will be a nice change of pace right about now. My only issue is that I don't have a credit card right now... Anyway to pay for time on Eve without one?
You can play for free if you're good enough at earning ISK, because CCP lets you buy time cards for real money and sell them for ISK.

Ah, yes, the Divine Intervention spell. That caused me quite a few embarrassing times...

I remember this one time, I was doing an instance run with a couple of friends. I had become their go to healer, since their guild lacked good ones. Anyway, their guild leader was coming along on this one, and they really wanted to impress him with my skills. And what do I accidently do on the first pull? I DI the tank, of course. Wipe.
It's also a good bullet to keep in your gun for those times when you're in an absolutely awful pub that you hate to the point of blind rage. The mats are expensive and the repair bill will be worse, but damnit, sometimes you're pubbed up with such abominable shit-for-brains that it's worth it to fuck them all in their moment of triumph.

Or just, you know, for random trash. Whichever.
Cool that you're thinking of getting back into EVE though. But watch out, as I said, the game isn't for everyone. And make sure you have a good book next to you while playing...
Last time I tried, I had a copy of Wing Commander: False Colors on-hand.

Remember that time guys tried to say that spending months learning nothing but learning skills a good idea.
It's really terrible advice and I wish people would stop telling noobs this. The high level learning skills don't even pay off until you start training second and third tier skills to IV and V. Christ, I don't even have them maxed out, and the only time EVEmon tells me to train a learning skill is when I make a nine-month long carrier plan.

When I was playing, a 180-day plan would show a few hours profit on going from level 4 to level 5. It's obvious that taking basic to 3-4 and t2s to level 3-4 is far better than taking basics to level 5; but people listen to the morons who say 'if you play for five years it's way better to make your first few months totally miserable'.

Since I'm just about to add another month of playtime I'll just list all the options that are available to me in account management:

- credit card
- debit card
- bank transfer by direct debit
- PayPal
- WebMoney Transfer
- paysafecard
- PayByCash

I have one monstrosity of a skill plan in EvEMon that would take 780 days or so (I threw in there everything I'd maybe ever want to train), and it actually suggests taking Clarity to V - and all it would shave off would be 30 minutes or so :D

I flew a Mothership and I only had the basics to 4, and the T2s to 3. So yeah, anyone who bugs you to max out all the learning stats really is unnecessary. Even moreso nowadays with how cheap and common higher grade implants are. Back before they were added to faction redemption, it was painful (300+ mil) to buy a single 4/5 Point Implant.

Stark wrote:When I started, maybe five years ago, the tutorials you're doing didn't exist. There was only the auto-help that stepped you through the basics but that was it, you just had to jump into level 1s

it was complete bullshit

also the missions now pay significantly better than they did many years ago
Well... damn. Yeah, that sounds kind of awful.
ShadowDragon8685 wrote:Maybe things have changed, because the stuff you're reporting is completely alien to my experience with EvE Online.
ShadowDragon8685 wrote:Man... All of this is making me want to try EvE Online again. Maybe it's not quite so horrible anymore.
Well, it's certainly not horrible in the respect of being dumped with crappy equipment and the like. Hell, if you grab the trial or whatever, I'd be happy to fly around with you and help you/hang with you on missions and stuff.

The game itself is... I'm still on the fence about it. On the one hand, flying around shooting shit is lots of fun to watch, and it's really pretty, but much of the game seems like it would get very boring after a while. I'm not sure yet. I'm still enjoying it, but I'm uncertain as to whether I'll still be enjoying it in a week.

I just got my first Destroyer. Three days into the trial. All I had to do was complete one of the Tutorial Missions. But I'm sticking with my Punisher, because Armor Tanking is fun.

Shadowdragonnumbersvillageidiot, do not ever report another user for giving his opinion again. Don't you dare, especially not when said user has not even flamed you.

You keep this up, little boy, and you will face consequences.

Wait, what? :? Is it okay to ask exactly what he did in this instance, since you addressed him on the subject in this thread, or shall I just let my imagination fill in the blanks?

I second this question if indeed it can be answered.

Anyway, tried eve, I can see how it might be fun but it was more mind numbingly soul crushingly boring that I would rather do dailies in WoW again. That said it looks great and I bet that doing all sorts of dickish things would be great with a good group of friends.

Well, actually turns out that the user in question was a spambot, so my apologies to Shadowdragonnumbers.
