Yes. But telling everyone in the discussion thread isn't so wise.

My apologies, guys, but our network is still unstable damn idiot IT department, so I'm going to have to pull out of the STGOD for now. If the people running it ever figure out how to restore it, I'll be pleasantly amazed.

I'd like to see this continue. But with three people I don't know if that'll work.

Any one know some one that might be interested?

We could always ask, like in other sci-fi, if someone would like to join now...

Might as well try, but I have to say I'm not very interested in continuing with just three people.

Right, I've taken over the Solarian League Role. First things first OOB.

Prototype OOB for the Solarian League:

(Work in Progress)

Active Fleet:

CLAC:

Silly Colonial Frontierspeople. Who needs such a thing?

SD:

Valiant Class: 230 [B: Maintainance Level]

Vast Superdreadnought of some 8.5 megatons. As with all SL ships, no pods yet. Designed as the sucessor to the Valour class, hence the name similarity.

League Class: 240 [B: Maintainance Level]

7 megaton ship of the wall.

DN:

Valour Class: 80 [B: Maintainance Level]

A 5.2 megaton dreadnought.

Storm Class: 80 [B: Maintainance Level]

A 6 megaton dreadnought

BB:

Solar Class: 240 [B: Maintainance Level]

Younger Battleships, Usually seconded to augment system defences where neccessery, they still qualiy as members of the active fleet. 3 megaton mass.

BC:

Latin Class: 400 [B: Maintainance Level]

1.2 megaton battlecruiser yet to be replaced, outdated even by SL standards.

CA:

Commerce Class: 500 [B: 120, PT 700]

The newest class of SL CA. Incorparates newer SL technology. 400 kilotons.

Trade Class: 200 [B: nil]

Predesseor to the Commerce, being mothballed as new Commerce class ships are deployed. 300 kilotons.

CL:

Honour Class: 800 [B: Maintainance Level]

(No relation, hence the U) Scouting Vessel. 100 Kilotons.

Duty Class: 457 [B: Ongoing, PT When the traders are happy, they'll stop]

Small Commerce Protection Vessel 100 Kilotons.

DD:

LAC:

Bah... Do I need numbers, they aren't significant to me now...

Mothball Fleet:

(Will be done tomorrow night)

System Defences:

(Advice anyone?)

Fixed Installations:

Mobile Assets

Notes: This was constructed partly based on consequences' post So I based it on the Pre-Bolthole Havenite fleet (ignoring the SD(P)s) As I assume that statement doesn't cover them. Comments?

I would also appreciate an explanation of the Mesa situation. Is it a scum pile I should turn a blind eye to in character, or should I go beserk when the inevitable happens? Now.. To sort out the beuracracy.

System Defences:
For the developed system 8 - 10 orbital fortresses of superdreadnaugt size is farily standard.

Well, the mainstream Solarian populace hates it. But the leaderships reaps the benefits from it. And all in all, the leaders don't much give a damn about public opinion. So it's all up to you. Though I wouldn't throw it to the dogs yet.

Necrson Lord, a tiny nitpick. The capital of the Solarian League is in Chicago :)

And *hint*: you might answer some questions directed to you from the colonial powers :D

That shall be corrected immediately (You think I'm actually going to read all the books in a day?)

And we'll see that in my next IC post. Though I must warn you, going by War's appendix, in order to deal with the sollie govt you probably have to fill out schedule 13622, and should recieve your answer in six to eight weeks... :D

Anyway, Version Three...
Provisional OOB for the Solarian League:

Active Fleet:

CLAC:

Silly Colonial Frontierspeople. Who needs such a thing?

SD:

Valiant Class: 230 [B: Maintainance Level]

Vast Superdreadnought of some 8.5 megatons. As with all SL ships, no pods yet. Designed as the sucessor to the Valour class, hence the name similarity.

DN:

Valour Class: 80 [B: Maintainance Level]

A 5.2 megaton dreadnought.

Storm Class: 80 [B: Maintainance Level]

A 6 megaton dreadnought

BB:

Solar Class: 260 {20}* [B: Maintainance Level]

Younger Battleships, Usually seconded to augment system defences where neccessery, they still qualify as members of the active fleet. 3 megaton mass.

BC:

Latin Class: 440 {40} [B: Maintainance Level]

1.2 megaton battlecruiser yet to be replaced, outdated even by SL standards.

CA:

Commerce Class: 560 {60} [B: 120, PT 700]

The newest class of SL CA. Incorparates newer SL technology. 400 kilotons.

Trade Class: 330 {130} [B: nil]

Predesseor to the Commerce, being mothballed as new Commerce class ships are deployed. 300 kilotons.

CL:

Honour Class: 860 {60} [B: Maintainance Level]

(No relation, hence the U) Scouting Vessel. 100 Kilotons.

Duty Class: 557 {100} [B: Ongoing, PT When the traders are happy, they'll stop]

Small Commerce Protection Vessel 100 Kilotons.

DD:

Victory Class: 1,092 {300} [B: Maintainance Level]

Standard Escort. 80 kilotons

LAC:

Bah... Do I need numbers, they aren't significant to me now...

Mothball Fleet: †

CLAC:

Vengance Class: 4 [B: Nil]

Old carrier expriments, not actually CLACs, a test in carrying several hundred pinnaces and cutters to help enforce trade disputes.

SD:

Devastator Class: 200 [B: Nil]

Old Superdreadnought with a mass of 7.8 megatons.

Super-Dreadnought Class: 300 [B: Nil]

First Superdreadnoughts. 6.2 megatons.

DN:

Lightning Class: 20 [B: Nil]

A 5.5 megaton dreadnought pensioned off on unvieling of SDs.

Dreadnought Class: 140 [B: Nil]

A 5 megaton dreadnought

BB:

Triumph Class: 240 [B: Nil]

Once the king of battle... Oldest ship type still in working order, almost 70 T-Years since the last was built, although they were exceptionally powerful wall ships at the time. 2.5 megatons

BC:

Latin Class: 400 [B: Nil]

1.2 megaton battlecruiser yet to be replaced, outdated even by SL standards, many of these still serve in the active fleet.

CA:

Trade Class: 200 [B: Nil]

Predesseor to the Commerce, being mothballed as new Commerce class ships are deployed. 300 kilotons.

Capital Class: 400 [B: Nil]

Older CA, predating the Trade Class. 290 kilotons

CL:

Mirror Class: 700 [B: Nil]

Scouting Vessel. 100 Kilotons.

Duty Class: 600 [B: Nil]

Obsolete Commerce Protection Vessel 100 Kilotons.

DD:

Glory Class: 700 [B: Nil]

62 Kiloton escort.

LAC:

Largely irrelevant to SL planning at the moment.

System Defences:

Fixed Installations:‡

Warrior Battle Station: ?

Light Fort, between a BB and a DN in tonnage.

Starfort Fortress: ?

Heavy Fortress, Double an SD in tonnage (From OBS, the smallest Mantie forts were 16 megatons) with a greater weapons to mass ratio.

Heroic Storehouses: Numerous, especially on frontiers

While these fortresses mass more than a SD, their armament is only equivalant to a BC, instead they generate income by leasing space to trade cartels, as they provide relative safety from pirates, although not from a determined hostile government.

Systems will be allocated these depending on their importance, both politically and strategically. The solar system would have up to 50 forts and no storehouses (No rightminded brigand would raid it, it'd be like trying to raid early C19th London.) At least twenty of them would be orbiting Old Terra/Earth itself. Sigma Draconis would have a number around 20 Warriors and 6 Starforts, in addition to 5 Heroics.

Remote Laser Platforms: Hundreds of thousands throughout the league.

'Old-fashioned, bomb-pumped laser satellites.' Stored inactive and mostly aboard ships and fortresses.

Mobile Assets
*

[Notes]

*In order to protect the territory of the Solarian League from piracy, at any one time, a percentage of the fleet is engaged in anti piracy operations. These ships are effectively independant of the Active fleet, and form 'Standard Anti Piracy Taskforces' although in the event of war, many would be transferred to the Active Fleet structure, however doing so would cause economic problems. The number of vessels of each class required for this duty is indicated by a second number after the total of the class, the number is in parentheses like so {xx}

†I get the image of the mothballed ships grouped in deep space installations, much like the Culture's Pittance Ship Store in Excession.

‡Systems will be allocated these depending on their importance, both politically and strategically. Change History: Changed Version two of the OOB to version 3

And Earth is built up to Coruscantian levels by this point. As, presumably, are the other major planets in the Solarian League.

Aside from a little bit of confusion on the total of active ships, nothing I see.

The "Anti-pirate" thing is the bare minimum that can be used to keep trade operating efficiently, take them away, and suffer massive losses of trade. I was thinking of the minimum needed to secure such large amounts of territory and population from general lawlessness.

It's from consequences post, that there are 'more again for planetery defence'

Perhaps you could just add those to the active count and denote it some how? Because it's confusing the way it is now.

Due to a mistake on my part, the Asgard are getting the League class superdreadnoughts instead of the Devastator class they asked for. However, given that the League class are superior anyway, there should be no need for much refitting...

I hate to admit it, but your ship counts are way too light, Necronlord. There should be somewhere in the vicinity of 1600 ships of the wall, and a thousand battleships on top of that, at a bare minimum.
