a) the board won't update read threadss, and
b) whenever I go to the Board index, I get logged out. MF on Mozilla 1.4. Anybody else get this problem?
UPDATE: The logout problem seems to be gone. The not marking threads I've read one is NOT.
2nd UPDATE: Disregard. PEBKAC problem on my part. Mock me at your leasure.

PEBKAC is an IT acronym standing for Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair-i.e. user stupidity. In a flight of paranoia I had disabled ALL cookies which reproduceably denies the boards the capability to mark topics read (unsurprisingly). Yes, it appears to have been some kind of DDOS attack. I checked the logs and blocked the robot user-agent that was being used, so hopefully that should prevent a recurrence. I didn't notice earlier because I wasn't around.

At an admin site im a user of, many phpBB admins are reporting this problem, that is hundreds of bot guests... seems to be a variation of that worm out again in force trying to infiltrate 2.0.10 or less forums.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, or if it's even a software problem, but it seemed suspicious.

It does only happen if the person has a lot of posts. The only I've been able to get around it is to simply add "&start=25" at the end of the url.

It would look like this:

http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/search.php ... g&start=25

Since it displays 25 results per page, you simply type in 50 instead of 25, if you want to see the next 25, then 75, and so on until you find what you want.

This is also a good way to skip pages if you know where the particular post you're looking for is, instead of only being able to access the next few pages from the one you're on.

Hmmm, I tried and it worked. Add "&start=25" at the end of the URL when viewing the first page of his posts.

It may not have worked for you if you added that after going to the next page, which changes the entire URL.

The error is with mailing so, it'll be the email notification of a new post that's buggering up, not the post itself.
