"Well... if you don't want to search the ships manually, we could always go hire that unemployed transport, watch the ships, and then board the Kobold ship at sea."

"Good idea. We'd best see how much it'll cost us though. I don't want to be forking over 1000s. And make sure they're very well armed. The kobolds may have more than one ship."

"So we're playing pirates now?"

"Anything to improve my people skills." chuckles Grozny. "We should probably check out the ships at dock first, and if they don't turn up anything, waiting for the kobolds to leave may have its advantages, such not letting the other ships know we're coming aboard. That could provide some troubles. Plus mercenary backup could be helpful if we're going to be meeting a ship full of very angry, very wet rats."

"Some carefully placed Fireballs should do interesting things to the ship," Keenan chuckles. "But anyway, playing pirates is ok by me. I guess my charming personality fits. Not that I've done worse in my life..."

"Or, we could always watchand wait from shore. Those Kobalds will not be hard to spot."

We are still figuring out what to do without being arrested/attcked/banned from the city.

"Pirating" means leagal trouble and I doubt that we could convince the
ships crew to go pirating. Ordinary sailors aren't good fighters - this means
we have to do most of the fighting. Finding the kobold ship via (magical)
investigation should be the safer solution to our problem.

"If we hire the mercenary cruiser, it should have some fighters on it. And when we get the kobolds ship, piracy shouldn't really be a problem seeing as what they did to the last town. We'd be doing the government a favour."

"We should inquire the costs for the mercenary cruiser, without showing too much of us, lest the officials know about it."

"Now, that is another avenue... We could always scry on the Kobald Commander, it would save us the legal trouble, and be completely safe"

"Right, Keenan speak with the Merc ship, get the price, Spark, Tasoth scry the commander, us two are going to go buy a row-boat, or see if the Wizzies guild can sell us one."

"I dont own a scrying crystal, so I will have to see if the guild has one"
I head to the guild. I assume that the experimentation rooms, the observatory, or the library would havve a scrying crystal?

The observatory has a row of them for seers and divination mages to use.
*rolls scry check*
You see the commander running through a field, with what's left of his army on either side of him. They all look to be on the verge of colapse.
Spark walks up: "Hi Tas."
*Tries to get the price for the merc ship without revealing myself*
They placed an add. It advertizes them as "experenced" and their ship as "the fastest you'll ever see". Both those things had better be true for the prices they are charging. 100gp a day!
us two are going to go buy a row-boat, or see if the Wizzies guild can sell us one."
You can buy a normal rowboat for 50gp from the dock, or a self-rowing boat from the guild for 10,000gp. (they only have one of these)

With my new information, I'll be off to the mage guild and look for my fellow colleagues to tell them the price.

"Hello Spark" Tsaroth was used to that little nnickname.
"So, what are you up to?"

*you notice that Spark isn't wearing the mage-guild pendant*
"Ah, nothing much, plotting world domination. I figure if we move real fast we can beat the fael to it."

"Sorry, pal. Though I'D have to say I felt safer on a merc cruiser than on a row boat..." he sighed. "Where you're going to now?"
