Playing half celestial shield, Secquon flies up and away from the group towards the Dragon's voice, ready to eveade on a moment's notice.

A deep chuckle echoes down the cave. "DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK YOU CAN JUST TAKE MY HEART, HUMAN? I REMEMBER NETHERIL. OH YES, I REMEMBER IT. WIZARDS HAVE COME FOR ME BEFORE. YOU WERE ALL SO ARROGANT..."

"I'm in a class of my own." Malkamar stated, releasing a Spellfire Maelstrom into the wall near the dragon's voice. "Face me!"

"If we are so weak, why are you hiding dragon? Is it that you are to weak to face us?"

" It probably isn't a dragon at all, just a three legged lizard that took over the cave while the dragon's away"

Astinius manages to trip over a rock and fall out of the way just as the dragon appears overhead and crashes down, shaking the entire cavern. Gaheris barely manages to dive out of the way of the leaping dragon as well, though not through so much blind luck.

[DAMN natural 20s on impossible Reflex saves! I had you cold!]

Malkamar was still spooked, but the dragon was just sitting there. It couldn't dodge, right? He just had to focus, lifting a hand and expelling energy as Spellfire into the beast's face. "I'll make this quick."

(120 spellfire levels fired, Ki Damage for the day, ranged touch attack with an attack bonus of +27. 1200 HP, halved due to fire immunity, to 600. Attack roll is 40 total)

The blast of magic hits the dragon. The flames wash over him to no effect, but the magical core of the swirl drills into him. The dragon let out an awful shriek.

Hoondarrh, the Red Rage of Mintarn, was no more.

Gaheris stared in amazement, sword halfway out of its sheath. He opened his mouth several times, but closed it again without saying anything.

[DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN!]

"Holy freaking-" Secquon almost forgets to fly for a second, overwhelmed by what he just witnessed. He then flys a circle around the cave, checking for anything untoward, and calls out to the party "Any injuries sustained?"

"Man. I'm sorry. That was anticlimatic. I'm really sorry." Malkamar looked sheepish. "Think if we grab the heart and run anyone will notice?"

"And I wanted to cast timestop.. I havent gotten to play with it yet"

"Screw that, kill a dragon and leave the horde? Did you fire out your brains with that blast?"

And for once, I'll be the first to go merrily looting.

(fucking sleep...*mutters*)

Erhart had taken up a position by Asitinas to provide the said meatshield. He knew that with the powers of spellfire, the meager sword and shield he possessed would be of little use, even with enough fire resistance to resists a good blast of dragon breath. So he settled for covering the mage

"Well... Now that the dragon is dead... Ehrart, will you do the honors of carving out its heart?"

Off to school I go. Will someone please post for me at some point duringt he day... thow a spell when applicable...

Ok, the gold tally for the dragon's hoard is 450,000 gold, in gold coins, gems, pieces of art, etc.
There are the following major items in this hoard as well:
Staff of Power
Helm of Teleportation
Armor of the Abyssal Horde
Dancing Vorpal Sword +3
Spellstoring dagger +3
Greataxe of Acidic blast +5
Ring of Greater Teleport
Ring of Greater Invisibility
Scroll for the epic spell Hellball

The council confers briefly, in hushed tones, then turn back to you. "I am most sorry, but unless you have a sufficient supply of gold we cannot just rent out our mages. Guards, please escort them out."

Erhart nodded and drew the blade at his hip, murmuring a soft 'Aequitas' as the blade became alive in a shocking electrical field. With a calm movement, he stepped forward and lifted his blade to slice his way into the dragon and retrieve the heart. He was almost covered in dragon blood by the time he had finished, but he looked victorious all the same.

"Ugh, what a horrid stench...try and save those coins for Torma. You know what dragons are like with gold and gems.."

He sheathed the blade and carefully lifted free the dragon heart.
