Honesty at its finest, May Valen be with you. Just make sure to turn off your stealth armor so my Orlando Bloom Pirate Captain can hit your ships.

Neph, you owe me one

Ok I'll be waiting for your empire in e-mail. And you'll be making a brand new empire so whatever old one it shouldn't matter (you need to know your brand new empire's password).

You sure you know the password to this empire? The password in your reply does not work. Make a new game and slap in your empire. Click on "edit" and type in your password and see if you can get in. If not then you need to remake your empire.

Yeah, I thought that was it...let me resend it.

Wait your password does work I didn't type it in properly lol.
When the game starts you'll want to change the password in the game under Empire Options (in the game, not in PBW) or I can get into your turns, we wouldn't want that

.

That's what caused all this in the first place, lol - I changed the password before you told me to withdraw/replace.

Looks like Dalton got better homeworlds this time. Well, no matter, I'm still quite pleased. There's a huge green world just a hop, skip, and a jump away from one of my home planets and another world with ruins is also within spitting range.
One of my systems is named Zha'Ha'Dum, though...

Good for him. The Narn do get a very nice starting game bonus. Advanced Storage Techniques for the win.
I got a /lot/ better homeworlds this time around, and with decent planets nearby too. I mean, last time? I had (between two systems) only 5 colonizable planets. All small/tiny unbreathables. Isn't that atrocious? I was also surrounded by ice/gas giant planets with ancient artifacts on em. Like six or seven. Also, my homeworlds were 'harsh' conditions. Now at least they're optimal/pleasant. Makes more sense, no?

The freaking technology tree is hard to figure out. I'm going to have to plan my research to get a certain engine or gun or ship size. I suggest all those who don't have experience with the B5 mod do the same--open TechAreas.txt and Components.txt and at the same time run a full tech game and try and see what are the best technologies for your race.

The tech tree of B5 Mod is weird. It's got multiple prerequisites. So say you have heavy weapon 2, and laser weapon 3. You get heavy laser cannon. But you may need both heavy weapon 3 AND Laser cannon 4 to get improved heavy laser. Got it?
I SERIOUSLY suggest everyone try a half hour of singleplayer or play ahead there to plan your ship design and research.

Yeah, I think I'm going to do that, and not repeat the mistake I made with the ST campaign.

ST Mod was easy. Research ship construction, engines, shields, armor, weapons, ECM, so on so on.
This is just as easy, but a little tricker. Yeah I get it Neph, I was more spazed out at the difference than anything... planning is really easy. I took the most powerful weapon or fastest engine and went downwards... I know exactly what research to do to get Anti-Particle Beam VIII and Advanced Ultraefficient Antimatter Engine now

.
Shields appear to give you nothing. Are shields only for Vorlons and Shadows?

Vorlons and Shadows I'm darn sure have em.
I THINK Minbari and maybe Vree also have shield stuff too.

Very clumsy way of implementing different techs for different races, especially compared to the rather elegant way that the ST mod handles it. Pre-requisites I can understand. Researchable tech that never yields anything is just sloppy.

What a perfect setup.
All my planets are in one system. A system with an old, red, still-powerful star.
Bor'Goth is teh shit, and you're all lesser for not starting there.
Do not go to Bor'Goth.

As far as I can recall, not many of the major races in B5 actually have energy shield technology.

Dalton wrote:As far as I can recall, not many of the major races in B5 actually have energy shield technology.
No real 'energy shields', although it's inferred that interceptors have some kind of energy deflective ability. I remember a scene where a commander in an Omega is being attacked by a Hyperion, and someone notes the Hyperion's front interceptors are down. The Omega destroys it with one X-Ray laser shot.
But in this game? I tihnk only the ancients get true shields, yeah.

Hey guys,
GUESS WHAT?
One of my mates watched Kojiro take his turn and now he wants to play as the Dilgar.
Any chance we can get him in?

If it's as based on B5 Wars as I'm told it is yeah, only the ancients and well behaved Minbari will be getting shields.
Speaking of well behaved...all of you play nice now or the Vorlons will be cryptic at you.
Bring on the RP thread!

Five players haven't done their turn yet so I could restart again. The problem is that I can't increase the maximum number of players once the game's started. I could run every single turn offline but that'd be a big pain in the ass. So if he wants to join everybody's got to be willing to leave the game and rejoin a new game, reupload all their empires again.
So I guess he can watch or be a backup player

.

That's not necessarily true. We have 8 players now, and you set the max to 10, so he could join in theory if we restarted. Personally, I have no strong feelings for or against having a new player, and doing the first turn over again isn't a big deal, just as long as we restart, he joins, and we're all sent the first turn for the new game by tomorrow.

by brianeyci
Speak for yourself the first turn was the longest since I had to look through and figure out what technology to research

. But, redoing it is no problem.
Check out the max--when the game starts it lowers itself to 8. He can't join once the game's started unless I ask the PBW Admins for some mojo jo jo but even then it'd probably take a few days so we're better off making a brand new game and having him join.
I can do it right now--but for something this drastic I'll need unanimous consent. I'll make a new game right now, assign all the players and if everybody's uploaded their empires by tomorrow we can restart again.
