Same way it stopped KJA and Stackpole?

Although I guess they both have stopped making books though for the time being, but Traviss won't be stopped by her own incompetence soon enough because her particular breed of incompetence is based on fanservice which is percieved as money in the bank.

Servo i'm with you on this one.

Leia becomes a non-person and Mara Jade encourages Ben to become a Sith apprentice. What capped it for me was Fett. A 70 odd year old man being the deadliest, richest man in the galaxy? Give me a fucking break. My guess is that she sat back one day and asked her self who does rabid fan boys wank off most to, remembered that trawn was dead and has already been rezed once (sort of) and decided to champion Fett to get said fan boys on her side.
As Jim Raynor said, how well can an author who doesn't read the earlier novels (and who seems to be proud of not doing so) but relies solely on the Holocron portray characters who have been established by someone else? From what I've seen, I don't recognize Boba Fett and I couldn't help but laugh when I read a review over at Amazon titled "Old men...".

Christ, look at those reviews, even the positive ones! I'm going to have to widen the Talifan clubhouse once Traviss and Moose decide to attack amazon.com in their respective blogs.

It seems as if there are quite many people, even among those who liked the novel, who are of the opinion that the characterizations were off. Heck, there's even a seperate thread over at TFN where this is being discussed. Who could imagine that there were so many "abusive talifans"? :P

I'm sorry. I can't stop laughing at this. Gold nugget, I tell ya!

There aren't that many. All those reviews are just sock puppets. :P

Right on, it's the "6 to 10 people" conspiracy at work. :P

Wait, people are still allowed to have opinions about Karen Traviss' work? I thought we were all terrorists if we dared to have opinions about Karen Traviss' work. "Talifan", remember? You people clearly hate freedom.

Thankfully, Traviss has no power over Amazon.com, which remains a bastion of freedom.

I'm on pg. 233, and so far . . . meh. It's just boring to read. I couldn't bring myself to care about Fett after two or three reads of his section, so I've been skipping. Jacen's alright in terms of reading, but Mara just seems completely off-character; I thought she was the one that didn't trust Jacen.

Ben's sections are actually kind of nice to read, and he's a likeable character, but that may be because he really is the only character that doesn't have a real agenda.

This is more of a general question, but since my memory of the EU is getting rusty: Did Han ever strike anyone before Legacy of the Force as a major Corellian patriot?

Oh, I can't even HINT at Traviss without getting a ban warning at TFN. I can't even agree with another poster who's slightly annoyed at Traviss, either. See, in my "user notes", I called her a "cunt". Off TFN.

That's the kind of stupid fuckups they have modding TFN.

Well, I got banned on TF.N, and I can't care less to remove the ban. The TF.N is beginning to get on my nerves anyway, especially with self-serving idiots like Charlemagne who think their personal opinions matter more than others.

Surely you don't refer to his sanctimonious "Lightsaber of Truth" garbage?

It's a sad but true fact of life that many moderators of the forums where "celebrities" posts are sycophantic little weasels who must oppress all dissenting opinion against their almighty celebrity guests. Even when they're being blatantly psychotic.
I have my own experience with this when I was repeatedly flamed by a moronic game developer and then *I* was banned for "inciting him"
Though I have to say, that pales in comparison to the sheer stupidity of this Traviss woman and the dumbasses who flock around her. All hail TF: N, the last refuge of the talentless hack.

What you should have done, was to call her something gender-neutral like "illegitimate ass-clown". That way, she can't cry "sexism" without looking like a.... illegitimate ass-clown. :P

"Luke, you are going to learn that many things depend greatly on your own point of view."
Obi Wan Kenobi

Cao Cao: People like Ender_Sai claim not to care but they do and they spoil violently to any kind of change. As it is, the TF.N has become a place where delusions of grandeur and personal delusions are allowed to exists and are imposed on others.

It doesn't help that the woman bloody haunts the internet. If she weren't such a bitch, that kind of responsiveness to fans would actually be kind of cool (assuming it didn't affect her writing quality).

using the words "quality" and "writing" in a sentence about KAren Traviss should be accompanied by the words "lack" and "of".

Are there any estimates of sales numbers so far?

Couldn't find any numbers. We can only hope that it does poorly, but no so poorly that the entire LoTF arc comes to a screeching halt *ducks*.

As I've said before, Book 3, Tempest, will be the key book for LOTF as I see it . Two of the three authors have made their first debut. If Denning is able to improve upon the lackluster Dark Nest, then hopefully he and Allston will be able to balance out Traviss. If he can't, then LOTF is going to suck (albeit even more so than usual  ).

Cold someone can tell me what, excatly, this story is supposed to be about...? I'm fairly curious as to what could tie together all these myriad plot points, AND still include an old-ass Boba Fett.

It just seems these plots and subplots seem almost random (probably they are). Or is this some kind of anthology book?

Well let's face it, quality control in the EU has always been poor. That's how KJA got his abominable IG-88-GOD story published. But Traviss is unusual in the ferocity with which she attacks critics of her shoddy, poor-quality work. Most authors who write an EU book of questionable quality just take their paycheques and go home. Only Traviss thinks that anyone who doesn't like her books must be some sort of bigot, hence "Talifan" and lots of muttering about misogynism.

Since Traviss herself seems to think that reading her collegue's SW books is unimportant, let's make it a point to post a summary of all her SW books here. Give a quick rundown of plot points and spoilers.

That way, those that are still following the EU can skip her shit and go straight to the better books.

Out of curiosity, Fingolfin, what did you post in the one you were banned for?
