I have discussed with Nephtys that, yea, they'll basically sit there while everyone targets and tries to communicate. Unless anyone is going to close to combat range and/or try extreme-range missile fire, I'm inclined to rule that a few days pass where everyone's panic'd, GNN gets to use it's 'SOL IN CRISIS' logo and bring in retired Polish Generals for analysis, and people are busily saying 'WTF?!' to each other, and we go from reacting to the mining begins.

I will now hear objections from the Sol members.
I don't have a problem with that...

I guess that works, but in the future could people not claim that "Days Pass and nothing happens" please? I mean, when you do something that other people are obviously going to react to you do need to... well, give them time to react. :)

Well, technically, you now have days to react.

If this is accepted, Nephtys will be holding her horses while Sol can do 'And this happens with my nation in the days that pass'.

Okay, but I assume attacking Nephtys is out of the cards so as not to screw up the continuity?

Prior to her moving? Well, it'd be preferrable not. Also, why attack something that's sitting there as docile as a rock?

AFAIK we're waiting for Nephtys to react to Hawkwings destroying one of her mining ships?

Hmmm... slow day today, I guess other people have that *gasp* real life stuff to attend to. Anyway, a few things. If any of the mods other than Imperial Overlord, who is in on the situation, wants to take a break from the headache that is Sol and play pirate, IO and I are still off hunting. Probably should have PMed a reminder, but no rush really.

Oh, and I looked all over and couldn't find it, but I think Redleader asked if taking pieces out of my blobs is a problem. The answer depends on how much you took. Too much, say over 500g but less than 2 or 3 kilos, and the chunk will be able to retain enough intelligence to be sentient when not moving, over the high amount and it will be a full fledged sapient organism more or less at all times. Less than say about 10g and it will more or less behave like a slug and will be quite easy to contain. Between 10g and 500g and the chunk has just enough intelligence to be feral, in which case... well, have you ever seen The Blob?

And if you want a technical analysis on the captured equipment, I can give you the technobabble too.

Updated by OOB a bit. Now contains more detailed information about my navies and naval weapons. I was going to describe the ships themselves but got tired of writing.

The names used for the weapons are real, but either incorrectly applied or anachronistic. During he 16th century no ship mounted what were called "cannon", those were heavy pieces meant for battering down fortified walls. Instead they largely had culverins and demi-culverins, which are longer-ranged and fire smaller shot. I got the names from this article on early smoothbore cannon.

I'm obviously not a mod, though I do need a break from playing a nation of panicky Asian schoolgirls armed with P90s who cry "rape" at the first sign of tentacle monsters.

*cough* Piracy does sound like a whole lot of fun. I just need to whip up the prerequisite fluff first. Fugitives on the run from the Military Police, obsolete ex-Space Command ships that have fallen into private hands...

I'm gonna be headed out of town for 3-4 days. Don't nobody go and invade me. :P

It's a couple pages back where I describe the setting, and I would recommend asking Nitram first, but if you want to whip up an OOB I would expect it to be a 75 to 150 point force at the most, if not much less, composed primarily of frigates and destroyers. The set up is pretty much that the pirates are going to be smashed, but as I demonstrated in Africa, just because you lose doesn't mean you can't be a complete dick while going down.

Sorry about the several days' absence, everyone. Due to events in reality, I won't be able to devote much attention to the STGOD, let alone my computer for a few weeks.

I can work this in storyline-wise, as something like someone overhears a Gliesan murmuring something about "the Time of Deepening" right before they all disappeared back within the confines of their territory, if anyone thinks that fluff-wise this would help the game.

My apologies to Covenant and Academia Nut especially, as I've left you both hanging during "negotiations," though for the sake of completeness we can assume my Archons conducted themselves politely, told both of you that further communication would be probable, and left under good terms.

When I come back, I'll make another post here, and then sift through the probable pages of events I've missed.

sorry about that. I'm back, and I will post soon. Thanks for the monster thing, a Blob MIB story is incoming, and lets just say terraforming is incoming.

Don't worry about it rhoenix, I'm planning on going away to Cuba for 10 days in August (and by Loki is my pale ass going to burn!), which is part of the reason why I wrote in political tensions earlier, it gives me a story out if I have to go away for several days. Just cite internal problems and go quiet for a while.

I am lagging a bit behind, I started a new job and I have been busy getting myself settled in. Nice to see I haven't missed much, though there seems to be a real shit-storm coming Earth's way.

I have no time until Aug. 4th to catch up IC, and by then I'll have 200+ pages to catch up on. I'm out, period.

My stuff is posted, as well. So I just watch and observe as another war fleet advances first on the monsters :)

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take the honor of being the first one to drop out. My life is starting to get fucked up, my dog got attacked by raccoons yesterday and that seems to have pushed me too far, so I'm in no position to continue to devote the time needed to partake in this STGOD. So maybe next year's STGOD (assuming it happens ofcourse)

You're not the first.

And guys, just because you can't post for a week doesn't mean you have to drop out of the game.

Any Sol powers going to join me in fighting Nephtys and her horde of eeeevil space monsters? Its a big party, feel free to crash it.

I'm gonna be gone for three weeks, and I'm not gonna drop out...

Incidentally, my ships will be fighting the eeeevil space monsters.

Battling eeeevil space monsters is exactly why I deployed the Saber and its associated task force to Terra. Can't leave me out of the fun, even though I'm not a Sol power.

I'll be leaving tomorrow for Venezuela until August 3rd. So I will be without internet access for exactly three weeks. My father has no use for the internet outside work, and he keeps all work stuff in the office. Since I'm staying with my father, no internets for Adrian. I will, however, have internet access for a day or three next week courtesy of my grandmother and her home office.

Beowulf has control of my nation until August 3rd. The reason is because the Kitaka and the Habsburg Empire are allied. So, even in my absence the Kitaka still count with the guns of the Spanish, Burgundians, and Austrians. The exception will be for the short period next week when I do have internet access.

In the unlikely event that anyone wishes to declare war on me, the official name of my nation is the one listed in the OOB. If for any reason you want it in English, just change "Reino" to "Reign of". The phrase "Habsburg Empire" is a casual way to refer to my nation but not correct for diplomacy, including declarations of war, such things must be addressed to the Monarch.

Of course I see no reason why anyone would want to fuck with my innocent nation(s), but you never know what clusterfuck can rise-up during a three-week absence. Or what trouble my ally, who is playing, could get into. Everything could look fine the last day of internet access and then on August 3rd the whole sector is on fire.

I'd appreciate if people would say exactly what ships they are contributing to the space monster battle, just so I can make the battles log accurate.
