Today's update is the Kid Icarus stage. It's actually a nice refresher from things like Smashville.
Not perfect, but not bad.Jul. 25 Wed. 2007
Skyworld
Behold the Kid Icarus stage! You can go ahead and call it Pit’s home turf if you like.
From a distance you can see the temple and its surroundings.
The floor’s crumbling construction makes it easy to shatter...
It feels great to break it!
Not having a floor does increase the danger factor, though. Why? Because it’s a long way down, that’s why!
Look out below!
Mastering this element is one key to gaining the upper hand. The floor quickly regenerates, so it’s important to keep your eyes on it.

Once upon a time, Yoshi had a saddle. These days he seems to have a small turtle shell. What's up with that?

New move:
Footstool Jump
What is a Footstool Jump?!
Well, it's a cool technique. Basically, you step on your opponent and jump off!
That's it!

Jump! Now press the jump button with perfect timing...

Boing!

And then you jummmmmmmmp!
Using your enemy’s spine like a spring to launch yourself into the air
is pretty fun.
What? You say it doesn’t have much strategic value?
No, no, no. That’s hardly the case.

You can use it to perform Meteor Smashes! Incredible!

I wonder if you'll get your second jump back if you bounce off someone's head. I remember Ganondorf and Capt Falcon did if they used their down+b attacks in mid-air, which I used to great effect in Ganondorf's case.
Skyworld will be interesting, though.

It reminds me of the original Smash Brothers' Kirby. He could do a drill kick down that would send the opponent rocketing into a pit if you did it right, and he could usually float back. It was an excellent move, and really made it less about the moronic "I smash you forwards and you fly backwards past me" wierd hit location smashes. I'm all for it.Elite Pwnage wrote:This is how I see it, you and someone else fell off of the platform you can just use the toadstool jump to knock down that person and make it back to the platform. It's pretty funny if you picture it.

Not really; I get the impression that Assist Trophy characters have only single attacks (like Pokemon), rather than a full range of movesets (punches, kicks, smash attacks) like the polygons.SAMAS wrote:I just realized something.
They can use Assist Trophy characters in place of the Fighting Polygons/Wireframes if they want to.

Update: DK Final Smash:
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/index.htmlKonga Beat
As you might expect from Donkey Kong, his Final Smash is something...upbeat. That’s right, he’s breaking out the DK Bongos!
screenshot
Taa-daah!
And...DUM DOO DUM DUMMM!
It’s cool to just pound on them, but why not listen to the music that’s playing? Press buttons in time to the beat to really get things hopping.
screenshot
1, 2, 3...dum, doo, dum dum!
screenshot
Now clap! Clappity clap clap!
Feel the rhythm and increase the power! T-t-take it easy, will ya!
screenshot
And finish!
DK’s invulnerable while in the middle of this move, so take it easy and enjoy the moment.
Oh, and jamming during screen scrolls and such is something you might want to...think about.

Awsome picture Loner.
Update:Item:Pitfall
Update:Item:Pitfall
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/index.html.Pitfall
This item appeared in the game Animal Crossing. Bury it in the ground and it becomes a trap. If you love playing tricks on others, this item can’t be beat.
screenshot
When you throw a Pitfall at the ground...
screenshot
It vanishes!
screenshot
When someone touches it, PLUNK!
Now’s your chance. You can’t help but grin.
Incidentally, it also has an effect if you simply hit someone with it instead of setting it in the ground.
screenshot
If you get hit by a Pitfall, you’ll drop through pass-through floors!
Getting thoroughly fooled by a trap like this... It’s pretty humiliating.

Hmm, I'd love to place one of those on, say, an F-Zero car that is going to go off the stage momentarily.
Wonder how long it takes to get out? If it's like Yoshi's egg where players can hit the button so fast they get out almost instantaneously then its useless, but if there's a time limit it could be nice.
