I reccomend that anyone who can watch the BBC coverage online or on TV, should do so. It is excellent in all respects, although I fear their engineering staff may be updating resumes when it's all said and done.

Obama within 5,000 votes of McCain in Virginia.

Holy shit. CNN ran the simulation where McCain might win - and with nothing but "for the sake of argument" red wins, he'd struggle to get to 266. CNN has just unofficially called the election for Obama.

Speaking as a Frankfort voter this makes me friggin' sad. About all the consolation I get is it took them 4 hours to call the damn thing.

Watching the BBC coverage, and if one more Republican taking head mentions Palin "energizing the base" I think I just might have to punch someone.

15.
The BBC coverage is a lot more substantial than CNN's, but it's nearly 4AM and the snazzy graphs are a lot easier to digest right now than talking heads.

If they can't call the election, they should be unable to call Ohio and Pennsylvania, because calling both of those for Obama essentially calls the election by default. As it is now they're just dancing around the facts.

They can't call the election as yet because not enough states to make up the crucial 270 EV number have reported in as yet. It is possible, however, to call individual states.

Lets see, N. Mexico is 5, and Louisiana is 19, right? So even the more cautious CNN tallies have it at 199/88.

As a Michigan citizen, I'm biting my nails on Prop 2. Medicinal marijuana is important, but stem cell research much more so. We can't afford to let Jesus freak luddites and misinformed lolbertarian morons hold research back.

Man, this is awesome.

Question about New Mexico... both CNN and MSNBC are calling it for Obama, but he is showing at about 39%, while McCain is showing at about 60% Some strange voting set up in NM I'm not aware of?

Is just me, or did the mood completely change on MSNBC? They've gone from "getting excited, getting excited!" to "it's all over but the crying." I know it feels like that in my living room right now.
