Indeed. I was going to buy a newspaper today to see the great Olympics specials ... obviously I don't want one anymore.

Exactly why the Royal Marines and US Rangers in Afghanistan found none of these huge subterranean bases Rumsfeld went on about and how we're still getting these attacks. Terrorism cannot be defeated by large armies, it's somethingyou fight with counter terrorist agencies and I expect MI5 are devastated this got past them without any warning.

The Brits is the fightinest people on the planet, they didnt blink at the goddamn Blitz and that made 911 look like some kids with firecrackers, whoever did this is going to be in a world of hurt very soon.
Easier said than done. These people are cowards; they hide in the shadows and do not reveal themselves, and certainly don't present a good target for military action.

I've been trying to figure out the next political step. All the claims of AQ being defeated and dead and gone by Bush et al are now out the fucking window... Will we see MASSIVE crackdowns and increased troop deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm willing to fucking bet that there is not a chance in hell that the proposed Aussie redeployment to Afghanistan won't go ahead now (as the Labor party was trying to block it), might this provide the impotus to finally fix the fucking problems that exist in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Sadly it's not as easy as that anymore. Who do we strike? All Muslims? Obviously that would be wrong - these people hide themselves - who can we strike at? No one.

It might, if we do it right.

Fuck - that speech from Blair just then along with the looks on the faces of Bush, Putin and even Chirac sent a fucking chill down my spine... There is NO FUCKING WAY that ANY troops are being pulled out of anywhere now, it sounded like a fucking declaration of war with the entire G8 in support.
Blair is phenominal. That short speech he gave surronded by a dozen angry looking Presidents and Prime Ministers from around the world gave me goosebumps.

Yeah it's not as easy as with the Nazis. These guys dont have infrastructure or cities to speak of. Shit.
This is really disturbing, i saw some guy being interviewed with blood running down his face, he looked fucking just gone. Like dear-in-the-headlights.

To paraphrase (more than a bit): "It is FUCKING on..." And with the looks on everyone's faces in the background, I don't doubt it. First time that Blair has made me feel intimidated.

He said "Terrorists, its ass-whupping time, and this time I've got the whole crew." I think most of the intimidation was just reflected badassitude from Putin. You know he's dispatching death-squads right now.

Some guy, i think on either CNN or Fox i cant look around to tell for sure, is talking...he says he saw like a bus blown open and people were laying out on the street...says he couldnt tell if they were alive or dead.
Shit - BBC website appears to be slashdotted. Trying to find a good shot of the G8 leaders at that speech... I cannot emphasise enough how fucking scary they all looked.

not very hard with Bush, Putin, Chirac et al standing behind him grinding their teeth in anger .

What do you think the respose will be from the Lib Dems and other left wing parties now? Will their position on Iraq now have to change in response to public outrage? Or will Labour take a hit as people blame this on our support for Bush and his policies?

What kind of bomb can rip a bus in two!?
Hmn..local explosives here can do that, have done that.
To be honest, compared to stuff here, that bus hit was a firecracker.
