As the ships approached, they were met with a hail f ehllball spells, and meteors from the astroid belt were wipped round like massive flails. Desroying ship after ship.
The assault shuttles reacted lightning fast, pulling back and far out of spell range. Thauglor took that as an insult. Glass the facilties
The R'hlloran fleet poured out waves of concentrated missile and disuptor fire onto the surface, where the resistance was taking place, and avoiding as much as possible civilian areas. Each facility offering resistance was quickly turned into molten slag, and then sterilized them with a salvo of deadly biological warheads that would kill any living thing without a mile wide radius in less than 10 minutes.

The R'hlloran fleet eased off on it's bombardment of the planetary shield after a bit, instead focusing fire on the Arcanist orbital shipyards.

The city on the far side exploded in street-to-street fighting, but with the stun-gas throwing the arcane forces into disarray, the Jardanians had total control of a small part of the south side.

A troop transport that has previously simply been hoving landed, and when it picked up, the circular ring of a stargate was on the ground. Jardan quickly dialed in, and started sending troops through.

Bugsby wrote:The drones were almost all destroyed; the Arcanists had done their work. Two broadsides and heavy support fire had burned away the drones and some of the escorts. The Arcane escorts had taken significant damage, however. The escorts pulled back towards the dorsal and ventral fleets, trying to reform defensive screens. The fleets were still in the killzone, but there were not nearly as many guns set per fleet, something that Leego Diama liked.

The 40 Lance shots hit, 5 per Dreadnaught. Lances, even more powerful then the KSE fusion cannons, tore through the shields. The weaker 8th fleet dreadnaught(s) were taken out of the battle immediately by the combined blow of 5 lance shots. The rest were damaged, with shields blown away. The missile frigates fired off another volley, targeting the holes in the Dreadnaughts' defense that had been blown open by the Lances. Fire poured into the gaping wounds of the supercapital ships.
Power was rediverted the the shields of he dreadnoughts, their heavy armor and the comined point defense of 5 flees keeping the majority of missile weapons at bay.

With that however, the entire arcane fleet used its superior speed(we are smaller ships) to outmaneuver the Krell fleet. they split into two groups, and moved around the krell ship and played hammer to their own anvil.

ooc: a clever twist :)

"No time for the news," Basil said, "take care of it for me."

He turned to the exit, collapsing into his own shadow and moving across the floor and under the door so quickly that he could barely be seen. In a moment he was down the hall and in Elanie's chambers.

The woman was crouching on the floor over the body of a human servant, still thrashing weakly. The wound on the man's neck was severe, it had been torn open rather than punctured, and his blood had been drained forcibly. Basil swore in some long-forgotten language and gripped the corpse by the throat, easily lifting it from the ground. From there, he looked it directly in the eyes, which had begun to race from side to side and were turning a milky white. The skin was graying.

"A ghoul already?" he thought, "incredible."

Then he squeezed, crushing the entire neck, and then fire burned in his eyes and the corpse turned to dust and ash. Creatures drained in such a brutal and sudden fashion usually became undead ghouls in a matter of hours, moving like superior versions of zombies at the command of that which had killed them. That this one had taken only seconds to begin its resurrection was disturbing in the extreme and it had to be disposed of quickly. The clothing fluttered to the ground, it would have to be taken care of by another servant.

Meanwhile, something far more important was going on. Elanie looked almost shellshocked, horrified by what she had done. Basil had to calm her, immediately. He gathered her into his arms. She was unresponsive at first, but when she realized who he was she began struggling. He grabbed her chin forcefully and looked into her eyes.

Elanie immediately felt as if she had descended into a warm black darkness. The only things that she could see were his eyes. Abruptly she remembered the vision and panic rose, but then something smothered the thought and she calmed again.

Basil spoke to her as if from a great distance, "He did not and does not matter. No mere human does. You are special... I apologize for not anticipating this, proper arrangements will be made in the future. Now, sleep."

Elanie lost consciousness instantly. Basil delicately wiped her face clean of the blood with the hem of his cloak, replaced her clothes with her nightgown, and put her to bed. Things were probably going to become more difficult.

As to the situation brewing in Arcane space, Casimir took no direct stance. He only reiterated his guarantee of Jardanian integrity and warned that precipitate action before all facts were gathered was unwise. Patience was counselled, and nothing more was said by the Realm of the Blood King.

The Arcane Dreadnaughts had shunted power back to their shield, and the vessels were protected again. However, they were no longer the main concern that they had been. The energy used to strengthen the shields weakend the weapons at the same time. Also, the Lance hits had all hit the broadside of the Arcane vessels, since it was the broadside of the ship that had been facing the Krell fleet. The cruisers and battleships were still a problem, but with relatively intact escorts and supercapital ships, Diama felt confident. The Arcanists unleashed another broadside, this one significantly weaker than the one before, lacking the heavy dreadnaught support. It was still fairly damaging. 4 wall cruisers exploded, finally succumbing to the massiv firepower they had been absorbing. Several blue collars went down as well. The supercapitals shuddered under the impact, but the shields still held.

The Krell fleet surged forward, breaking lines and plowing into the middle of the Arcane formation. Titans lashed out with heavy lasers and light railguns, and the Aegis cut a swath of destruction. Escorts followed in the trails of their lead ships, weaving in and out between the Arcane ships, spraying firepower everywhere. Disarray broke out as the Arcanists found themselves without a true wall of battle anymore.

The Lances and carriers had no more place in this battle. They pulled away from the dogfighting capital ships, setting the course for a quick hyperspace jump out of the system to lick their woulds.

The arcane ships were in anything but disarray, this was what was known a s a capitalship brawl, and was fully intentional.

SHields repowered, and energy equalized, the broadsides once agains sounded, somewhat weaker, but still devestating.

The prisioners from the hit-and-run raid were sedated, placed in a heavly sheilded facitlity with transporter jammers active. One was gagged, bound, and shot full of chemicals that left him unable to move anything other then his eyes.

Then he was brought to the mind-control specialiest, or, as the troops refered to him as, "The Loyality officer.".......

He was only unable to move. He could still think. And he shut his mind away in a place that even the crows could not land their droppings. And began willing himself to die. He slowed down his heartbeat to a near standstill.

(They are psykers)

FYI: Brain-washing takes months against a normal human. What do you think you will be able to do to a people specifically trained against it?

He was dead before any of that was possible, it only took 30 seconds for his oxygen starved brain to start shutting down.

It took 10 seconds for the ER team to shove a cathoder into his arm, pumping pre-oxinginated blood into his system.

The heavily sedated men in the chambers, all 60 some odd of them, went into a similar meditation of death

(buddhist monks can do this slowing their heartbeat to nothing... )

It was to late, without a heartbeat, it dient matter how much oxygen they pumped into his blood, if it dient reach his brain...

the information was at best scetchy. The wonderful thing about psychers arcane archers, and mage-blades, was that they were basially technicians. They knew how to cast, but didnt actually know how magic worked.

What the Jardanians recieved was.... at best... the underlying thery behind magic, and a few mnor spells, that is all the men would let slip from their minds before they willed themselves into brain death

The psykers using a technique called Microcosm, which basically let them, and their friends slip into a nice little dream from which they would never awaken. Their minds and memories were shielded, and they would feel no more pain.

(I will not elt you cheat on the R&D. You will get what the monocorans have, no better)

"Well, since they are going to die anyway.........crank it up."

The devices were set to their highest possible setting, that fried the brains of the wizards and spell-swords, but it did procure practiacl information on casing low, and many mid-level spells.
