Gary bought him to Palpatine, so we always have time travel, or perhaps cloning as options here, if it is indeed Maul

Depends on Gary's powers. Take Q esque powers...
Back in time to Naboo.
Zip both parts of him out of the pit as they drop out of sight, and let the Imperials aboard the doomball, er Death Star stitch him back together (I suspect they could do that, or give him mechanical prostetic legs.)

SO MANY STORY THREADS! AHHHH!!! I can't keep it all together... damn.
Good chapter Stravo, didn't seem as good as many of the others but it probably has more to do with me not reading StarCrossed in a long time and your lack of time than anything else.

WOOT!
More starcrossed!
BTW, this is by far the finest fanfiction I've ever read. Of course, most FF is poorly written crap, but still... truly fantastic, with gripping characters, excellent portrayals of old favorites, and a truly monumental story line.
Any idea how long, in pages, this would be if it were in book form?

Double post taken care of. As to number of pages. Each chapter averages about 20 pages. 70 Chapters. Yeesh.
Thanks for the kind words. I just set out to write a story the way I want to see one. With intelligent villains, daring heroes and epic storylines without fucking reset buttons.
Also re the apprentice's identity there have been a few hints thrown in to give you a good idea of who he/she is.

If you want to be
really weird, you could make it Kirk's son.

For some reason this chap seemed short to me. Could simply be withdrawal symptoms, though.
Keep it coming, Stravo.

Stravo, I hope you've remembered Thrawn's trusty Noghri Assassin-Bodyguard when/if the time comes to defend the Grand-Admiral's person from ... undersireable elements in his command.
As to the possible Darth Maul ... we know that both Vader and Luke can kick his arse

Excellent Chapter!
I wish I had this kind of a following with my story.
Well we all can dream.

I assume Thrawn had his Noghri assasins already at his side by the ROTJ era? I've been keeping them under wraps in case I'm wrong about this. But imagine this: Kahn's supermen vs. Noghri assasins duking it out in the corridors of the Executor. An image that I've been toying with in my head for some time.

These bodyguard assassin guys could also explain why Thrawn knew what Khan was doing. An Ace up Thrawn's sleeve.

Hmmm. Actually, the Noghri could be problematic. They were supremely loyal to Lord Vader (to the extent that they honored Leia as "the Lady Vader"- too bad they never met Luke, that would've been cool ...), and IIRC in Heir to the Empire it seemed that Thrawn took up Vader's mantle of being their patron.
But-
Who says Vader didn't bring his Noghri along?
