A childhood of physical and sexual abuse made Rose determined to survive out wit, and outlast all around her. A borderline sociopath by the time her mother turned her last trick and hooked up with a sugar daddy affluent enough to send Rose to a private religious school, and out of her parent’s hair. Of course the cliques would have nothing to do with her, and made her life miserable and unbearable. So she seduced and blackmailed teachers, found out their secrets used partial truth and appearances against them, and started pitting the other girl’s drug dealers against each other, in order to make her tormentors truly desperate.
And at a great cost of innocent life, she did succeed in humiliating and breaking the alphas of her school. At this point of triumph she proved to be her final undoing. The drug violence had made hunting difficult, and the prince had decreed that it would stop immediately. While she had covered her tracks well enough for most authorities, she hadn’t done so nearly enough to get past the eyes of the Nosferatu. She was coming in from breaking curfew to go out and enjoy her victory, when she was physically overpowered, the monstrous THING smelled, and had an endogamous forked tongue she recalled the raspy sandpaper like quality as it brushed against her face before her mind vanished in a world of pain.
The next thing she recalled, she was underground her limbs felt heavy and weak, she could barely move as the creature that attacked her proceeded to present his case at a “Trial” of sorts before other monstrous figures lurking in the shadows. As all of her past was read before her, Rose passed out from uncharacteristic weakness when she heard the pronouncement: “You have proven your case, she doesn’t deserve a clean death, I shall speak with the Prince on your behalf, in granting you this boon..”
She thought they were going to kill her, but then it was far worse. Soon afterwards the changes started, at first her skin was soft and cut at the slightest contact, then as time went on, it became tough and leathery from healing from all of the minor injuries, an extra set of sideways fangs emerged from her jaw line looking like mandibles, hairless her hardening skin soon grew to resemble that of a cross between insect and human. Still there was work to do, they at first set her old books and city records, she devoured the information with ravenous attention, finding patterns easily. After she had learned enough “Enlightened Self interest” to not be a danger of breaking secrecy, they set her about cultivating her own sources. (to which she does rather well, living in a basement and maintaining a minor income off the internet, while she spends a lot of time gathering information and revealing it for a price.
appearance: skin thickened and hardened to the point where it almost resembles exoskeletal tissue, mandibale like fangs jutting from the sides of her mouth. At her sire's request she often does appear in a badly stained and torn school uniform. If agitated, or impatient she does tend to click her "mandibles"....s

Yosemite, you could try using the Character Generator here. It tells you how many points you can put initially, from freebies, and the XP which we don't have yet.
Edit: The Download can be found there.

your link does not work...
edit BTW what does anyone else think of her:
Basically take the character from Wildthings, add the survival talents of Alex Krych, and the ability to manipulate the truth like Grima Wormtounge and you have her as a mortal. now after the vindictive embrace, we have the Franz Kafka esq effects (including the whole trial bit)
now she's living somewhere mostly forgotten with a lot of books, and free wireless internet.
also sire Seth's aformentioned tongue is 3 feet long, fully prenstile, slimy, with cat like hairs, and a remora like sucker on the end of it. (ok I have got to stop reading clive barker)

I know I've been doing quite a bit of catch-up stuff, but I've noticed that nobody's posted.
If I gave too difficult a hook, then my apologies - this is my first time playing Vampire:TM online, and I've certainly made some mistakes so far. However, with each one I try to learn, so please let me know if I did.

There's only one major mistake you've made:
You're an Assamite.
Do you *really* think many of the normal vampires of the Camerilla will want to be around you? We've used your clan for centuries, so now we nearly panic at rumors that one of that clan is in the city. Hell, I know one game where the city nearly tore itself apart trying to figure out who was the Assamite's target, who hired him for the hit, and who knew he was coming! (The worst part, he was just playing cause he liked the clan, there was no plot, only a really good ST playing up the paranoia.)

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.

Well, I'll have to grant you that. I quite honestly was trying to play it in the direction of Tremere-but-far-more-interesting-and-much-less-anal with this Assamite Sorcerer. However, I can certainly see why just being an Assamite and not being sly about it might incite an "AH! Kill it!" reaction.LadyTevar wrote:There's only one major mistake you've made:

Well, I was trying to be direct with my character, so as to show that I'm not here for anything insidious, like presenting myself to the Prince as quickly as I could, and then introducing myself at the Elysium - are you saying that no matter what I do, no other character will want to interact with me in any way, simply because I'm playing an Assamite?

But all you posted was that you walked in the gallery and looked around. What did you expect everyone to do?rhoenix wrote:I know I've been doing quite a bit of catch-up stuff, but I've noticed that nobody's posted.

Hopefully they won't all react as Gweneviere did. However, Gwen was a ghoul bodyguard before her Embrace, so she was well-versed in the dangers an Assamite could pose.Mark S wrote:But all you posted was that you walked in the gallery and looked around. Quite honestly, I didn't know. Given that LadyTevar made clear the fact that an Assamite in the room is nearly analgous to an armed and beeping plastic explosive, I was trying not to push things.Mark S wrote:But all you posted was that you walked in the gallery and looked around. no, more like a Benegesserit with gom-jabbar.
you know they exist for a reason, you know they are dangerous.
and the only clan more likely to create paranoia is a settite. And even if you are one of those with Bardo as a clan/bloodline discipline a childe of Set/Osiris is the only thing scarier to the normal masqurade then an Assamite.

A Settite is an instant death sentence. The only way to die faster is openly play a Salubri in a game with Tremere. The Yosemite Bear wrote:no, more like a Benegesserit with gom-jabbar.

shit!, must hide the fact that our entire clan is based on Diablerie...
*laughs about the time we arrived at a larp with one member of our group wearing a 3x3 eyes ghoul tatoo* damn the local tremere were trying to figure out who that person was protecting....
please remember this was the same one, where out of four of us, who were friends of the Brujah Primogen of Sacramento, who were tired of the scourge harrassing our wednesday night boardgames at dennys arrived in Sacramento on Saturday night for the larp, as "Illuminated
Ones" Three Men in black (me and two others) and a ghoul (sporting 3x3 eyes guardian slave symbol tatoo)

Besides the children of O. despite the fact that childe set killed O, and took over the clan, if you don't take Bardo to at least rank 2 or 3 you now have the best ability to maintain the Masqurade possible, but no one will ever trust you anyways.

Yeah, I'll have to grant you that one.The Yosemite Bear wrote:and the only clan more likely to create paranoia is a settite.
Granted, what I know of the Children of Osiris isn't much, but they seem to know how to behave themselves. Just not around Settites. The Yosemite Bear wrote:And even if you are one of those with Bardo as a clan/bloodline discipline a childe of Set/Osiris is the only thing scarier to the normal masqurade then an Assamite.
I should ask, since I was thinking of writing this into my next post - is there blood wine at the art gallery, and if there is, is it made with vampire blood, or human blood?
I realized my character wouldn't know what blood wine really is, and I was thinking that an amusing "incident" might help the tension in the room.

Technically they aren't. There are some Setites in the Camarilla. The problem, and its the biggest problem, is that the PLAYERS will want you dead, not the NPCs. And that's a really bad problem.LadyTevar wrote: A Settite is an instant death sentence. The only way to die faster is openly play a Salubri in a game with Tremere.

A day and a dozen posts too late, but that actually is actually why I wasn't posting myself. I've been kind of busy with beginning of semester. I'm trying to be timely, but this is sorry to say low on my list of priorities at present. I could comment on the rest of what's been going on, but at this point I'd be me-tooing.

My comment wasn't intended to imply guilt in the least, and I'm sorry I created that impression. I was alluding to cautiously writing my character so far, because I didn't know how people would react.
This is my first internet-based game of this sort, so I apologize for any noobishness where it occurs.
I should also describe my character a bit more: Tall and slender, about 6' even, weighing approx. 170 lbs. His hair is buzzed short, along with connected goatee and moustache of the same length; a dark brunette with some red here and there. His skin is still only a warm tan, though still noticable. He has blue eyes, a slightly hawkish nose, and an intent look.

Just a reminder: your characters cannot eyeball vampires and identify them as Assamites.
Normal vampires do get paler as they age and Assamites get darker, but at the neonate level that doesn't really matter.
Added into that there are signifigant numbers of people of Middle Eastern and East Indian descent in the city and ethnicity isn't that reliable a guide (even if Assamites were all of Middle Eastern descent, an erronous presumption to begin with).
Your characters can make whatever assumptions they want, but that's all they are. And you could be very wrong.

Kerstin can't and she knows it. She actually is quite bad at guessing anyone's clan, save perhaps the Nosferatu. What's happening here is everyone around her is making the assumption and her prejudices are filling in the blanks. If the word had been Lasombra from everyone around her she would have jumped to that erroneous conclusion just as quickly - which actually wouldn't be that unlikely (I had intended to use it, but was too slow to post). How many people here can tell the difference between Arab and Berber anyway?
