Your authority is basically that of moderately senior clergymen. Legally, you'd require a pretext for actually shooting anyone (though the Proctor will be quite inclined to believe his own hired goons, and that's what matters unless you shoot someone important); but you can certainly have them arrested by the local Enforcers (though not the Arbities - this excludes your own Arbitrator of course, who theoretically has an unlimited power of arrest anyway) and brought before a clerical court; refusing to cooperate with you is a crime, and in this matter, the ecclesiarchy would likely either demand severe penitent remuneration or outright excommunicate any member of the general population who doesn't give you full cooperation.
Obviously, anyone actually stealing psykers would get more than that, and the Adeptus Astra Telepathica or the Proctor would likely be quite happy to leave them to the Ministorum and its sadistic punishments.
Wow you're giving them a lot of shit...
Though I do rather like the fact that our crew is hiding out in the underhive.

I'm on to you.
So is Scar the pilot or something?

No, just a guardsman who grew up on a feral world, and gets... a little distracted on flights.

A little from column A, a little from column B.

Scar succeeds quite spectacularly in getting the drop on and chopping up an enforcer. If that'd been a monosword, the guy would be heavily wounded.

What's the deal with him
missing his own hilt and
dropping his gun? And was the hostage harmed in any way? I'm a little confused as to what happened.
So do I get to throw my punch?

Edited a touch for clarity. The enforcer's reaching for Scar's sword-handle, in order to try and disarm him, rather than get stabbed again. He's trying to get past Scar and into the ship, which means wrestling him out of the way or something...
And no, she's not harmed yet.
So do I get to throw my punch?

Yep. I considered you to be drawing a weapon and heading up his way last round. Feel free to make with the pain.

So, when does one of our psykers turn out to be a pyrokine who ignites stuff by snapping his fingers?
Also, would taking the guy alive be a standard MO of a witchhunter warband? I mean, a ruthless enough witchhunter might just shoot the renegade enforcer, then try the Proctor for not adequately vetting the staff for traitors.

That would depend on the witch hunters in question.
I'm just still surprised some of ya'll not only tried to rush the guy, but didn't get the hostage killed in the process (yet).

Actually I'm attending to the hostage, because I suck at melee. (low strength for being a spacer, combined with a WS thats in the 20's)

It's the standard MO of a witchhunter warband that is supposed to be capturing rogue psykers rather than killing them, and want information more than dead bodies.
Being ruthless bastards doesn't mean we're stupid ruthless bastards. Getting the hostage out of the way in this case isn't putting any of us at serious risk, and we've got the rogue enforcer cornered.
In my case, my only firearm is a shotgun. With shot, not slugs. So...yeah. Crap against any sort of armor, and not a real good weapon to be firing into a melee since the ammunition will spread out...

So do I, but I'm going for the alternate use of the reliable shotgun fire arm....
Hey it works for Russian troops against knife wielding Nazis...

Yep. I decided it was reasonably characterful for Scar to still be on the Heli, so they got to clobber him from behind. Thus, the hostage escapes a shooting. It looks like not only are you going to save the hostage, but you'll take the guy alive, too. The only other way they could have done so well is to have talked him down (*snort*).
He's now stunned for six rounds (Strength test + Scar + natural 10 = win) and though Darien got a solid hit, but he soaked the damage. Everyone else suffered from my high rolling dice... You guys can move back to narrative if you like, now. Provided you beat him up some more and make with the handcuffs or whatever.

Taking a shot at his knee in order to end the fight quickly. If it knocks the leg out from under him, great, we can dogpile him and put some manacles on. If it breaks the knee, even better, sure as hell nobody's going to try to escape custody running on a broken knee.
As a side note, I have got to get a weapon that works against people in light armor. Clubs and shotguns are fine for riot control but don't cut it for a real fight.
I was all set to try to talk him down when Scar tried to cut him in half. Admittedly, "talking him down" in this case meant playing "Bad cop, worse cop" because nobody in the IoM who wasn't completely delusional would believe they were going to survive a stunt like this unless it was as a servitor.

It's the primative quality that's the killer. Between toughness bonus of three and effectively four points on top of that...

Heh. Heh. Heh.
To be absolutely fair, this is a very nice, easygoing planet.

Surprisingly enough, Arbitrator starting equipment does not include manacles. This may be rather telling of how the Adeptus Arbites feels about taking prisoners.
I assume an Arbitrator is going to have some training in securing a prisoner by means other than breaking both of his knees and elbows then tossing the poor bastard in the back of a Rhino.

You can surely borrow some from the enforcers.

well I don't have that skill but I do have a high Will power (spacers get a plus to that stat, so mine's modified into the 40s)
