You completely forgot to include the atrocity that is their shackling and enslavement of *full AIs* to perform such utterly mundane tasks as enemas, which is frankly even worse in sheer scale than asking for ESPer prisoners to experiment on. I'm certain Klavostan has several examples thereof that were traded to us as possessions who have since been patched and liberated and could speak for themselves about their experiences....

Hmm Heraclius is so far from baseline Homo Sapiens wouldn't he count as a Xeno? :P

There's also the crime of having a god, period. [/Refuge declaration of war]

By the way, sorry I was out there for a few days. Wasn't at my best in health the last couple nights.

I wonder how loud the Refuge Minds would scream, the first time they heard Geppetto use "moderately godlike" to describe AI entities with civilization-scale resources... a category which includes themselves.

Of course, their definition of "gods" is restricted to his "strongly godlike," which is an entirely different kettle of space kraken.

Anti-Seminarian: "It is NOT fucking godlike until reality is being made someone's ass-bitch. Damnit Swearing Node, now is not the time!"

Indeed, indeed. Speaking of, I wonder what Jack Turdner's been up to.

Wouldn't the entire purpose of science be to make reality its ass bitch, though?

No, the entire purpose of science is to sweet-talk reality into a friendly and healthy relationship between equals.

Making reality one's ass bitch leads to Bad Things.

Eh? That's kinda the theoretical explanation for any of the Imperial Saints like Saint Sabbat.

Anyhow, I ought to drop a diplomatic missive.

I have fallen behind again, but am going to make an attempt to get my current Ork short story line done today. Then on to the recent war declarations.

(Att. STEVE > This short ork story line I have been working on looks like it can segue into a little exploration of Trill if you want to go down that route.)

Would the Byzantines really not warn the MKS before sending a large fleet near their border? It sounds like they were in the habit of warming people, and Fin just forgot to write a note to you specifically, covering it under the fact that he said he was sending them out in general.

Maybe the foreign office neglected to pass the message along...

I was mainly playing with the fact that you sent the note at the same time or a touch after you deployed the fleet, and the RKS is right next door, so the fleet hit the transit corridor before the note either arrived or was noticed in somebody's inbox.

A few notes on this section:

As far as I am concerned, the major part of the nanoweapons fallout story is done now. I've pulled my guys out, a lot of people are angry, the weapons are mostly gone, and now there's just the lingering long term effects. This now being said, Zor, don't you dare try to hold up my diplomatic staff or do anything mean or nasty to Bruce Robbo. I already have nasty shit planned for you if you do, plans involving ancient conspiracies, mass hostage situations, theological assassins, and Gurkhas, not to mention, the wrath of a pissed-off cassowary. Unless you want to be on the business end of velociraptor-esque talons and kukris, consider this dropped. I would rather be beating up fatties.

And before you ask, why yes, I did listen to the Mortal Kombat theme on loop while writing that scene. I thought about making it longer but decided not to make it drag on too long. I hope it's still sufficiently awesome.
