Over on the Space Marine website's forums on of THQ's drones pulled the lame-ass"Alternate Timeline" gag to excuse their craptastic grasp of fluff when people started pointing shit like that out.

Hit 41 yesterday. Only have a few weapon unlocks to go now (meltagun multikills? Really? How in the hell does it propose one do that?) along with the slow inevitable upward grind of grudge kills.
Hope the co-op DLC hits soon. Or some freakin' maps.

Yeah, but no one actually likes Sicarius, so it all works out.
(I think what happened is that Relic wanted gold/yellow shoulder trim for the iconic Ultra look, which is 2nd company. Of course, GW probably didn't want them using an established character like Sicarius, hence the creation of Titus. I think they should have just gone 5th company because black trim looks badass)

Are you joking, Cap? Melta multikills are the easiest far to set up in the history of multikills. One shit incinerates however many friends you've conned into standing on top of one another for that farm session, rinse and repeat.

I mostly play a tactical marine and I don't see how you get the meltagun multikill perk myself. I almost never see people bunched up close enough to get multiple kills with one meltagun blast due to how short "instagib" range is and how long the cycle time is even with the first perk. People (understandably) start evading away in a real hurry after that first blast vaporizes some unsuspecting bastard. The only times I see people that clustered up they usually see me from a ways off and I get gunned down or driven off long before I get close enough to shoot them.
It also be my fault for generally being the only guy in any of my games running around with a meltagun and the Salamanders color scheme; it makes it easier to pick me out from the crowd at a distance.

Seriously people. Private game. Perk farming. If you want a perk, set up the conditions to get that perk, don't just keep hurling yourself into random games and hoping.

I actually kind of do. I was never overly fond of Graham McNeil and Uriel Ventris. I don't exactly *hate* him or hate the novels, they aren't bad novels, but I do think he and the ultramarines are far over played. And that was before Ward.

That's only kind of missing the point.

The point is getting melta multikills so you can get the perk and get back to normal gameplay as soon as possible, rather than running around in a pub game with the melta hoping to run into packs of idiots spaced tightly enough and at close enough range to get melta multis-kills.

Or Titus is actually (brevet) Captain Titus, and Sicarius is temporarily incapacitated. Or Titus isn't actually in the 2nd... since it isn't ever actually mentioned what company he is in, and everybody is basing it just on the color of his shoulder trim. Or it takes place sometime when we don't know who the 2nd company captain was - the 41st millennium is a long time. It's not like Games Workshop didn't review the game before it went out.
Hell, the Ultramarines movie had two different Second Company captains, neither of whom was Sicarius (or Titus, for that matter). Are we going to blame that on Relic, too?

I don't farm.

Who or what is this "Ward"? Are you talking about Hexagrammic Wards, the inscriptions placed on some armor to protect against daemons and psychic powers? I'm sure that's the only Ward-anything that has anything to do with Warhammer 40,000. You're not just making stuff up, I hope, like, say, Khornate Grey Knights. Haha, that would just be silly!

Yellow shoulder trim is Super Official Codex Astartes Designation for II Company, though, and if any Chapter in existence is Super Official it's the Ultramarines.

Yeah, I'm not buying a Space Marine going to an Inquisitor to throw his company Captain under the bus like that. On top of that, he did so based on statements by a creature of Chaos. "Oh hey, this daemon says my boss is Chaos tainted, it must be telling the truth!"
I can buy that, because Leandros is consistently shown to be a complete moron (who really needs to do a lot more shutting the hell up and listening to Titus and Sidonis).

Maybe it was Leandros' way of getting rid of Titus - we see him getting really annoyed with Titus not obeying the Codex to the letter.

The fact that there were Black Templars there annoys me a lot more than Leandros being a tool.
what the christ are BTs doing hanging out with the inquisition

actually some line brothers can be actually dumb enough and fanatical enough to see heresy in the least action. They usually tend to be the kind who are also the "The people in this entire hab block had casual contact with this probable heretic? Better burn the whole building just in case the heresy spreads!"
For that matter, there are Inquisitors, Sisters of Battle, or Krieg Guardsman just as fanatical.
If some Space Marine (especially an Ultramarine) decides that the Codex is nothign less than the holy Gospel, and then some Daemon comments on some personal dealings with said Space Marine, I could totally see them being turned into an equally fanatical Inquisitor. I mean something along those lines (if it was more sensibly executed) happened in Warriors of Ultramar (which lead to us being inflicted with Dead Sky, Black Sun, which also lead to the continued reappearance of Honsou... DAMN YOU ULTRAMARINES!)
Oh yeah and Matt Ward. Isn't he that lovable guy responsible for the recent Space MArines codex and Codex Grey Knights? I also hear he might be writing the Necron Codex too.

I can't see leandros going far in the ultras now though. He essentially stabbed his captain in the back, so I doubt he'll ever make captain himself.
Connor, why don't you like the Ultramarine books? I have a rather nostalgic outlook on them since they and FireWarrior (The game) were my de-facto introduction to the franchise. I'd loosely followed it for years, but that was when I started reading the fluff. I thought Honsu was a rather decent villain.

Most marines don't make Captain. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if most marines never made sergeant. I'm sure there are dead-end positions for people like Leandros, who most likely got an "F" rating on this assignment.

Yeah, man, that guy is so evil for calling in the chaosbusters on some chaos stuff! They should execute him - that'll teach the rank and file that in 40k, we LAUGH AT and IGNORE the threat of chaos taint. We don't worry about it and we SURE don't report that shit! HUA MARINES OSCAR MIKE TO THE NEXT OBJECTIVE!

There are established procedures for this kind of thing; if Titus is showing what might be signs of psychic abilities (like shielding himself from the corruptive effects of Warp energy), then Leandros should be talking to the Librarian attached to Titus' strike force (if there is one), or the Chapter Librarius, not the Inquisition.

If Leandros thinks that "you cannot emerge untainted from contact with the Warp" I wonder what he thinks of Tigurius and the other Librarians.

So what? The inquisition was already there, there was a war on, etc. Since his superiors were OPENLY LAUGHING OFF THE VERY IDEA, that makes talking to them useless and suggests they're probably already slaves of chaos.
If you're saying he should be executed for breaking the blue wall of silence, that's way more interesting than anything that happens in the game, and doesn't really jibe with anything in the finale. Just sounds like butthurt nerds wanting revenge for reporting Captain Bland.
If Titus's stupid plan to send Grim McBeardo ahead with the foozle to get killed instead of them all going to the same place in a group was part of his chaos taint, that would ALSO have been better and more interesting than anything in the game.

YES! I FINALLY managed to crap my way through and execute the mutherfucker, after a prolonged battle where I wailed on him 4 times before I managed to get the first stage execute THROUGH.
Just found out the spoiler ending and frankly...... I don't see it as being out of form Titus is codex non compliant, shown dramatic pyschic powers and has COME into contact with chaos.
Remember the old fluff where anybody who came into contact with a chaos daemon gets eliminated and for marines, are mind wiped? The Grey Knights Codex has this bit reappearing again, and Blood Angels getting mind scrubbed. Close contact fighting against chaos just as your pyschic powers manifest? Against impossible odds? Suspicious indeed.
The real question should be whether Titus should had been reported to the Chapter Chaplains/Librarians as opposed to the Inquisition.

If anything, Titus is a manifesting Untouchable, as not once does he use a psychic power of any kind. I realize that the lolflashy visuals on Fury could be construed that way, but given that Leandros is watching him like a hawk and nobody once mentions it, that can be discounted as artistic license for space marines kicking ass. Given that Untouchables are essentially the polar opposite of psykers...
