"Eh, no. They ambush, we won't know about the ambush untill right before the ambush, if we're lucky. So, you stay in the wagon, and then you can help to ambush them when they think they're just getting rid of a fat wizard, and a dwarf."

Tsaroth takes the bow off his shoulder, and begins mentally reviewing the steps for casting magic missile(he readies an action to attack the kobalds with magic missile when the opportunity presents itself.

"I take it that displaying my axe on the way wouldn't be the best of things to do then?" chuckles Grozny. "Now lets get this overdone excuse for a mobile fortress rolling."

Malakar rubs his hands together, then stands up. "The trail I located isn't very far away. It leads right through kobald territory, but it isn't a very good spot for an ambush. The trees are cut back almost twenty feet from the trail, so we should have some time to prepare for an ambush when it happens." Malakar grins, then pulls out his longbow and plucks the string, making a slight humming sound. "It's been too long since I've used this..."

OK, so the wagon heads down the trail.

The large gap between the trees and the roads quickly shortens to nearly nothing. The raven spots somthing lying in the middle of the road about 100ft ahead. It looks to be about 4ft long 2ft wide, and it's not moving........

"So who's familiaris going to check it out? Your pseudodragon, your raven, or Mr. Toad?"

Keenan readies his crossbow and sends the command to his ring sheding him in the protection of his mage armor.

He commands his Pseudodragon to fly a bit closer to the thing lying on the road, but flying not too close.

Tsaroth spoke the command that sheathed him in crystal clear mage armor, and then another that activated boots of haste.

(ooc: I don't think I've mentioned my Familiar yet, have I?)

Robgea stops the wagon. "Trouble ahead, road block maybe. Safest thing is probably to drive forward, unless you want to check it out first."

(OoC: mentioned it flying out of the Wagon, didn't mention it to anyone else though. The charecter is very attatched to the Raven, and is overly protective of it, to the extent of paranoia.)

"Go forwards. I want rat flesh. We must attack them if they won't attack us."

Malakar pulls out his spyglass and studies the thing in the middle of the road closely. "Hmm...kobalds are known for planting bodies close to trails to draw unwary travelers into their traps...I think it's best not to continue. The kobalds probably won't attack us if we don't move any closer, assuming it is a trap, but that is not a sure thing."

Upon closer inspection, you determine it's the body of a kobold.

Or at least it was once.

Vines have grown out of the road, and not wrapped around it, but gone straight through it. Blood stains cover the road, and the kobolds face is frozen in a mix of terror and pain. All who look on it (the guy with the spyglass) have to suppress the urge to vomit. This is a very messy and painfull form of death.

As you lower the spyglass, the sounds of animal activity in the forest cease. A disturbing silence comes over the forest.

Malakar's eyes search left and right, his sense of fear growly steadily stronger. He knows this forest well, and whatever is causing this silence is making him uneasy. He draws his bow and notches an arrow almost absentmidently, his fingers wrapped tightly around it.

"I've seen messy deaths before, but this something all new for me. I almost... actually no I don't, rat got what it deserved." mutters Grozny as the sudden silence comes over him. "This is wrong, when a forest becomes silence, danger is afoot."
Grozny pulls out a throwing axe into his right hand, ready for use.

Malakar speaks in a slighty shaky voice. "I know this forest intimately..there is something very wrong here.." Malakar hops out of the wagon and sniffs the air. "The air is...strange..."

Keenan was unfazed by the dead kobold. He's seen more deads than he could count. But the...curious silence was indeed disturbing him.
He watches as the others prepare their weapons, and he stiffens as he prepares mentally for battle.

Tsaroth pokes his head out of the wagon, and immediatly notices the silence... He prepared to defend himself...

As you sit, expecting ambush, you hear the whine of bending metal and the crack of splitting wood coming from the bottom of the cart.

Malakar drops down into a fighting position, and draws back his bowstring.

Malakar looks back to the eagon to see what happened.

Twisting towards the cart, Grozny belts his throwing axe and charges head long at the cart, axe raised.

Turning to Tsaroth, ha says "we should better get out of here. I don't like the sound of that." He points down.
As Keenan hears the strange sounds from the bottom, he makes for the front and exits the cart.
