I was only fooling around. Besides I'm one to talk, I expect weeks where I won't say anything, tests exams and assignments being more important than SD.net ahem :D.

<Edit>also having a life believe me as soon as I get a significant other I'm ditching this place haha</edit>

Raiders seem to have nothing but Particle Beam VIII, and they don't have point-defense. The only good thing about them are fighters and tier 1 boarding parties. I won't stand a chance against the main races unless I hideously out-expand them. Hehe I like a challenge.

Brian
Raiders are supposed to use their crappy fighters. And I think they can really expand, because twice I've played a vs compy game of b5, they were always the #1 power right after the Vorlons and Shadows. They have a few advantages in that, it seems.

Take a look at the mineral cost -- 1.

Going to be awhile until I get fighters though, at 100k initial investment I didn't get them first turn and went mines and ship hull instead.

<edit>The max version of it is 1 min too.</edit>

That's pretty good. It's almost as good as a pulse cannon, but cheaper.

Let's review capital ship weaponry 101. Hey everyone... meet the old standby, Mister Heavy Laser, standard issue weapon of most younger races. Fear, great weapon of the Omega and G'Quon!

Now meet Lady Neutron Beam, a Minbari favorite. Comes in several colors. Blue, Sea, Ocean, Sky, Azure and Hoovooloo.

[restrains self from making corny vibrator jokes]

The good thing about ultra-light particle beam is it goes up to X (27 damage). Fighters take no maintainence either, unless B5 Mod changed that too, so I don't know why they mention it being a maintainence advantage.

Without shields for most races, warp point defense should be da shit. Breaching pods for teh win, unless security stations are a viable defense (they are in ST mod because they're smaller and 4x more boarding value at least for Ferengi).

Also there are station keeping drives. So defending warp points with a Babylon 5 is entirely possible.

To say I feel woefully outclassed would not do it justice. Here's me trying to work out how to move my ships...

When the Vorlons say 'We are not ready yet....' they mean it. :(

In multiplayer games, ships only move when the turn is executed, not when you order them to. So long as their max movement points are more than 0, you should be fine.

Yeah. Movement and actions take place after you make your move. To intercept an enemy ship, you use the 'attack' button and your ship will try to catch up to theirs. Same with refits and scrapping, and launching fighters/mines.

Strategic combat is the norm too, Kojiro. Become familiar with that.

Oh. And also, it's Uraniun's turn. Go EA!

Just a heads-up, the first auto-executed turn comes due today in a little more than 4 hours, and I'm not rolling it back if someone misses it.

The site said that the turn should've cycled about three and a half hours ago. Everybody's turn is in. Why hasn't the turn processed yet? :?:

Either PBW is doing the timezone conversions wrong or there's something wrong.

Whoops. I messed up the timezone conversion. You're right, it should have executed hours ago. I wonder if the "timed turns only" mode is messed up. I'll just set it to fully automatic, then.

EDIT: Turn was executed manually. We'll see if the timed turns don't go off when they're supposed to for the ST game either.

I think this has to do with the update to the B5 mod that's installed manually into the Data directory. I installed it. Did someone else not do so?

This is the same problem I had at the beginning when I had that update installed. Then I posted about it and got yelled at by Nephtys (for which I made such a posting in my Livejournal Image) so I reverted to base 1.8, whereupon it started working for me.

...I think we may have to start over again.

I got the invalid date files message, too for the first turn. I just shut down SEIV, then tried it again and it worked.

I tried to do the current turn and got an error message. Nothing descriptive, just an unable to load game message. I'll mess around with it later. It's too damned late at night for me to even think of trying to solve a computer problem.

Don't worry. I think. I got the exact same errors.

edit: restarting doesn't fix it for me. :(
edit 2: Maybe this has something to do with us changing the PBEM version from 1.94 to 1.91?

No need to restart the game. They can always roll back the turn for us.

Yes, only thing that changed.

<edit>Uraniun235's going to have more to bitch about haha. I downloaded the facility.txt file and guess what, it works for me. The link is here. Just unzip it to your seiv/b5/data directory and you can play the turn.</edit>

Okay, using the new facilities works for me.

And it clarifies the messed up default stock files. Wheee. Entil'zha!

Brian's fix worked for me, too. I'm also no longer having problems.
