Is there any doubt that Nick Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the world? There shouldn't be. He is the Red Wings.
Tonight, down 3-0 to the Fish in the third, the captain rallied his troops. All he did next was get the primary assist on three of the next four goals, including an awesome play more befitting a star forward--flipping the puck over a Dman's stick just inside the offensive blue line, then grabbing it out of mid air and settling it for a cross ice pass that netted the OT winner, all in one fluid motion. He leads the league in +/-, T-1st in defense points. The most dominant blue liner of his era, one of the best all-time. I love Lidstrom!!!

Los Angels Kings @ Calgary Flames:
-Calgary wins 4-1
-C. Conroy, 19:21 Ice Time, +2 rating with 2 goals scored.

I am back to profess my man love for Nicklas Lidstrom.
Two games in a row he puts up three assists on the board. Two games in a row he sets up the game winner late (or in OT) on a 2-on-1 with a sensational cross ice pass for a slam dunk goal. Norris Nick is fucking back at it again. B-E-A-S-T.
And Fanboy, your Ducks let me down! Preds beat 'em, giving them another five point lead in the division. I guess the Wings deserve it for all those times they got pwned by the Sharks.

Speaking of division leads, Calgary moves into sole possession with a game in hand with a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
Huselius continues his point streak, now in its 12th game.
Conroy with 4 points in 3 games since coming home.
Home domination continues.
That is all.

I'm rather ill at the way we've been playing lately. Nieds will be back soon and then I swear we are going to start crushing people for fun again.

Wings must like playing in New York... a week after peeling off three third period goals and winning in OT against the Fish, Wings again pop in three last-frame tallies to erase a two goal deficit and win 4-3 at the Garden. God bless Shanny, he put the Rangers on the board with their second shot, and Hasek gave up some uncharacteristic softies after that, but know this:
When the game is on the line, Dominik Hasek will make the big save. He stopped a 3-on-1(!) in the final ten seconds of the second period with an awesome pad-stacking save to keep the Wings alive and spur on their third period rally. He turned aside a couple other odd man situations before and after that one, and was generally spectacular after getting off to a rotten start.

Speaking of the Rangers, they trade valid prospects for Sean "Douchebag" Avery. Just when you think they have gotten over that whole "spending too much money" thing...
Ducks score a season high 7 goals in San Jose (7-4 the final score). Although it was pretty lousy how they let the Sharks back into the game after being up 6-1 but after having already played all 3 of their games at the Tank this regular season, i'm very happy having won two out of three. The Ducks are healthy and the two headed bluneline monster has been reborn.

No kidding. I know all about former Wing Avery (nicknamed "Stupid Penalty" in these here parts). Get this: they traded away their young guys for a player who's leading the LEAGUE in minor penalties.
So unless the Rangers need some practice on their penalty-kill... what the fuck?

Calgary versus Detroit.
Hopefully this will be the swift kick in the balls game to turn around the Flames road woes.
Not really that upset at all.

Yeah, that definitely wasn't the Flames out there today. They were pretty much out of sync from the get-go.
And shame on Brad Stuart for gooning it up in the late going; no need to be a sore loser, Brad.

Will you look at that...the Redwings are losing 6 to 1 against Philly as I type this. For shame, getting schooled by the worst team in the league.

Pfft, we'll have the last laugh when Forsberg pulls that winged wheel over his head.

Maybe the Wings caught the deadly Flames road virus...

And then he suffers a season ending injury during his first game as a Redwing.

Henrik Zetterberg is rapidly approaching gamebreaker status.

Nice pass from Zetterberg to Datsyuk on the first Wings goal.

How could this happen to me, I made my mistakes, nowhere to run, and life goes on while I'm fading away...!

On the downside, you don't get Peter Forsberg.
On the bright side, you won't get stuck with his salary after he gets crippled and sits out the rest of the season after playing his first and only game.
BTW, it's because you touch yourself at night.

We'll see. He's either in crutches or carrying the Smythe.

I'd say 10:1 odds on Forsberg suffering a season ending injury.

Good, I didn't want him on the Ducks. I'd rather have good young talent for multiple seasons instead of Forsberg for 3 months at best.
Speaking of which, we had to steal a win in Phoenix tonight, after being up 1-0 we got down 4-1 and ended up winning 5-4 in OT. This could be the turnaround point depending on how we do in the back to back with LA this weekend.

Not to me too but I am with Fanboy on selling the farm for Forsberg.
Have I said I hate Nashville as much as I hate the Oilers yet?

Deep down you know that is not true. Although come playoff time The Preds had best go down. Paul Kariya will not have his name on the Cup before Selanne!

I just hope the Flames make the playoffs. Right now they are underachieving. Badly.
Vancouver will win the division but that doesn't bother me at all, even with the Flames road record as bad as it is.

Archon if the playoffs were today we would have a rematch of last years first round. The disparity between the the top 8 teams and the non playoff teams in the west is growing, Six points between the 8th place wild and 9th place Oil.
Oh but holy hell how bout them Penguins? Methinks Pittsburgh would do well to do everything they could to keep them.
