Armies don't fight fair. They fight to win. If Nitram picks a fight with such a large group then that's his problem... Assuming we can find him.

Right, and if we catch him, we will maul him with our vastly superior numbers. KK?

Is Victor next in line Darksider?

My father once told me that there is no such thing as a fair fight. In it's esential nature it is not fair one person is by nature stronger or better and they will win. So if you are not the strongest and the best do not fight (cource starting a fight is never good) but if you must fight use any means to win.

and with that random thought i'm leavin for an hour for CSI and food.

What?

I needed a name. It sounded cool.

Hanse Davion is the name of a main charecter from the early part of the Battletech Series.

His son is called Victor, hence my little joke up a couple posts.

It wasn't that bad a series. The Mechs would be crappy war machines but they were fun to read about.

Oh, indeed, I'm a big fan of the earlier part of the series. I think Stackpole is a fantastic writer, especially with the fourth succession war series, and the initial invasion of the clans. I will admit, though, that in the past couple years it has degraded down to crap-o-la. So much for a great series...

I know that.

I'm a Btech fan.

Indeed Battletech has fallen greatly in storytelling.

Ahh, thought you meant that you made the name up on the spot.

Now, all you need is for your Chief of Intelligence to be called Justin Allard and you'd be set. Come on, you know you want him to be in charge of everything!

In fact I think I can summarise every recent book right now.

Planet is on Katrina's side in civil war. Man comes back from war against clans, loves Victor, leads revolt for Victor, Victor wins.

End of story.

Thirdfain wrote:Alyrium, the idea of using reactive armor against c-fractional solid projectiles is completely ridiculous. Modern reactive armor disrupts directed explosives, but can do nothing to stop a sabot.
Acutally heavy reactive armor will snap a sabot in two, radically reducing its penetration. However that still won't matter against a fractional C projectile because its not going to penetrate, it's going to vaporize on impact and take a chunk of the target with it.

Really they told us that a sabot would still manage to destory the target with reactive armor?

Hey, it isnt my fleet... We dont use reactive armor, that was the Atlanteans, I was just speaking for the ambassador because Shark Bait had to run to piano lessons during the conference...

ok in refrence to the vaporizing fractional c weapons: yes it will vaporize but the reactive armor provides another advantage in space it creates a small debris cloud arround said ship (i just looked into this) so when fractional c weapon does hit debreis cloud it would more than likely vaporize. BUT I agree i probably did it wrong and will re fit the atlantians hulls

A chunk of nickel-iron moving at .4 c doesn't give three shits about a small debris cloud. It'll blast right through, mostly gas by now, and blow a gaping hole in the unprotected hull.

My online time is going to drop dramatically starting tomorrow. I'm going home tomorrow morning, and once there my computer time will be extremely limited. I'll do what I can, but don't know how it'll turn out.

Is there some sort of consensus on how much in-universe time has passed since page 35?

by Bugsby
Since p. 35? Heh, 2 weeks. On that page Straha reminded us all that the ball ahs been "coming up." So about a week from that post to the start of the ball, then I would say we are about a week after the Rape now. Things CRAWLED with several large diplomatic conferences and two major military operations.

Just so it’s clear, there are no quick fixes for any of earth's problems; the temperature will continue to rise, melting the polar ice caps. The oceanic ecosystems are all basically destroyed, aside, perhaps, from the deep sea ones. Most vegetation will die out, the planet's already weakened atmosphere will no longer be able to replenish itself, and aside from people living in underground cities or archology type structures very little life will be able to live on the surface for decades.

Speaking of which, Straha, I think you might have missed my most recent post on the bottom of page 71, it is regarding the meeting between my diplomat and the political prince.
