Why don't you tell me where these concentrations of heretic forces are that you are going to percisely bomb? Why haven't Maruader bombers already been dispartched. Why mention them now all of a sudden when we are talking about wasting cities?"

"Your method of winning a civil war seems to be to kill everyone and declare victory. Mine is to conquer and use the captured resources against another foe. No wonder your master never promotted you."

I do not trust anyone on the planet to fight for us without at least a year in Indoctrination Camps. We cannot win a war of attrition."

Chaotic rituals take time and effort to prepare and enact; If you believe that there are sufficient Chaos forces waiting in reserve to direct and channel the energy that would result then you only strengthen my point."

"Do you still want to come? I've got a spare seat for a copilot."

Prius also awaits Nathan's answer. Gix confuses him with this 'choice' matter, he's not used to thinking in such terms. If Nathan bids him stay, he stays. If Nathan orders him to go, he goes.

He exists to serve the Emperor by keeping His weapons sharp and eliminating His foes. It is for those above him to determine how best he can do that.

"Gix secure the planet have Prius aid you as he can, Pater take what forces you can and secure an open route for us , use naval assets if need be , and commandeer whatever civilian vessels you have too. Adavian start organising our forces here in orbit for the possible removal of the Archeotech. I`ll coordinate between the groups and run interference with the local government . Commodore the security of this system I leve in your hands, if there is a senior ground force commander tell him to fully mobilise the guard and militia"

Nathan looked at them all "I appologise for doing this but needless arguments amongst ourselves merely allows our nemies to secure there positions.I will hang if this fails but I die serving the Emperor"

Jolan Gix strode through the corridors of the station. He tapped his vox. "Severa, we have to aid the Lord Inquisitor in purging this planet. I need a list of Schola cadets training here. I want them combined with regiments of adequate reliability."

"Your will," she replied in a clipped tone.

"Hethor," he said.

"Yes boss?"

"I need you to select some PDF units with a high enough level of competancy to be beaten into a rapid response force. We'll give them a thurough going over to ensure reliability. I want the next best thing to stormtroopers."

"You got it," was Hethor's reply.

"Jolan," Severa asked, "where will you be?"

"I'm to meet with the Ecclesiarchy. The Frater Militia and and whatever Adeptus Sororitas forces are on planet should be a good source of reliable personel. Let me know if you don't find anything.

"Don't find anything?" Severa asked.

"That means they've written off this planet and sucked out the last erg of useful energy from their followers to use somewhere else. I don't want to be busy with a sideshow when the real fight is going on somewhere else."

Nathn looked over several slates as he checked things. ' Gix and Prius were busy as they headed down.Pater was ...hmmmm the Rogue Trader was being press ganged from the look of it .Adavian was doing his best....where were the Commodores rep....there,. He pcicked the slate up and started to scan it.

'The Mars and its two squads of escorts was on its way..... Emperor bless them they will need it...'

He looked up to see the Commodore staanding there glaring at him with two naval troopers with her.

Lena confronted Nathan. "I heard your leaving. Stop," she held up her hand. "Don't say anything until I'm done. I've heard the reports. Take what you need and leave. Your duty lies in not letting this subsector burn to the ground. We'll hold things together here and send you whatever help we can."

She paused for a moment. "I've got good people here. A lot of people who fought tooth and nail for the Imperium in the last couple of weeks. Ristani's good at whipping people into shape and Gix has a good eye for people. Emperor above, who was hell bent on wrecking Valen's career? She should-" She stopped.

"I'm babbling. I guess I might be afraid to say it, so I'll come out and do it. It'll be another day at least until you can leave. I can snatch a few hours, just for us."

Pater can hold the communication line open for us till Gix can send him ground troops.Adavian is making sure the tech is secure so my job is to coordinate there efforts so they are not in vain......I am doing it on my authority .... someone has too since the Govenor seems content to warm his hands by sitting on them and the Inquisitor lord of the secotor is missing"

"We keep the line open we can pull forces in ,also we split there forces and can efeat them in detail. This fight is going to be a $%^$%@#$#$#^ * meat grinder"

"I won`t be leaving soon and....time for us later? Is there something you need to tell me Commodore?"

And it's all so fast with the archaeotech, the uprising and-" her voice dropped, "this saint thing. God-Emperor, Gix thinks that it might be true. Who am I to be singled out for such a thing? I do my duty. I lead my people by example as much as possible, I pray to the Emperor for guidance, but this, it's too big."

"Why me? Why not Lieutenant Lennox? He prays more than I do. Why not Severa? She spends more time on the front lines. Why not you? Throne, you actually met him. How does a saint act? I know how a navy officer acts, I guess that's enough."

"And then there is you, Nathan. Even without your meeting of Him on Earth, you're the most unusual man I've ever met. I mean that in a good way. And I like being around you Nathan. I like it a lot. I don't know what we'll have between us, but I want to try and find out."

Fortis nodded, his look of exasperation mirroring Adivan's. Grimacing, he recounted the extent of his knowledge

"I would assume that it is somewhere inside the Mechanicus Temple, but nobody has confirmed this for us, and the Techpriests themselves aren't saying much. Even invoking your authority didn't get me far. Maybe if you went down personally you'd get some results."

The Inquisitor himself looked ready to spit, and glared off silently at the wall before replying.

"I think I'll do that. I'll want some troops with me when I do - they need to be reminded of our authority, I think. If their orders come from Vonrilyenta, of course, I can't countermand them, but I can certainly demand an explanation from him. The fleet mobilisation is well in hand - take charge for now, and report any major problems to me. Relay any additional orders if I send them, too. Mekhatan, accompany me. I doubt there'll be much for you to do up here. Come!"

With that, Adivan swept from the room, still with an expression of slightly more controlled anger on his face. The alien mercenary followed, his face hidden inside the custom power suit he wore.

Mr. Hethor Sah!

My species exists only because you find our venom usefull for your medical needs, and the Spacewolves like mixing drinks with it. We were primative hunters before you found and defanged us. You gave us an opportunity to hunt the Ork foes in your service, In the last century more then half of those hatched died in these conflicts. I obtained my commission as an officer, and a freed Xeno, leading pathfinding charges involving naval bombardments. I may not be the most imperial looking canidate, but if your looking for a rapid deployment trooper, I am qualified.

"I don't know. I care about you Nathan, a lot more than anyone else I've met in a long, long time. And I barely know you. I can't honestly say I will join you." She put her finger on his lips.

"Don't ask. Don't talk about the future. We don't know what kind of future we'll have. For now, there is only the now. We only have the moment." She gently pushed him back towards her bed.
