Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

Is there really a market for a SSB-type game with nothing but internet meme special attacks?Stark wrote:Now I can't get that concept out of my head. There's even established tiers of characters, known bosses, all the stuff you need for a Smash Bros-esque game. Using the Jump Superstars 'touch board' system would just be even more awesome: 'I'll take the 2-koma Red 'your mom' finisher...', 'oh no, the twinky messiah, what's strong against laughter?'...
Happened, this may.Enigma wrote:I hope Sony loses exclusivity to the GTA series. Maybe now I can get a PC copy less than a year after the console version.
Seconded, I suppose code monkeys here could talk for hours about the pain of Sony dev kits if they've seen them.MKSheppard wrote:
Because it's not worth it trying to make the game work on Sony's fucked up and retarded memory management system....life's much simpler on the 360.
So would RSA have infinite lives or an impenetrable shield?Stark wrote:Ah, but not only does that format have actual costs (instead of free simple animation and simple scripting), but it'd be awesome if you took Shep as a support character and spammed out nuclear annihilation. And you would too be in it: if we include the Twinkie messiah we'll be throwing the net pretty wide!
and that ability to copy someones attacks, but for a 50% longer duration/animation, and they do 1/100th of the damage....General Schatten wrote:So would RSA have infinite lives or an impenetrable shield?Stark wrote:Ah, but not only does that format have actual costs (instead of free simple animation and simple scripting), but it'd be awesome if you took Shep as a support character and spammed out nuclear annihilation. And you would too be in it: if we include the Twinkie messiah we'll be throwing the net pretty wide!
One of RSA's moves will be "fingers in ears", where all attacks automatically miss because he puts his fingers in his ears while singing "Nanana, I can't heeeaaaar you..."General Schatten wrote:So would RSA have infinite lives or an impenetrable shield?Stark wrote:Ah, but not only does that format have actual costs (instead of free simple animation and simple scripting), but it'd be awesome if you took Shep as a support character and spammed out nuclear annihilation. And you would too be in it: if we include the Twinkie messiah we'll be throwing the net pretty wide!
You know how the best [and worst] ideas hit you in the shower?Stark wrote:Er, there's a HUGE market for SSB-style games with nothing but manga meme special attacks. You make the call.
Ah, but the attacks do hit, he just doesn't realise it. But of course, his most devastating move would be the "Super Darkstar Rhetoric lv2", which puts everyone else to sleep. I'd imagine Jake99 would have a "Volcano Smash" or something, which causes severe confusion.Praxis wrote:One of RSA's moves will be "fingers in ears", where all attacks automatically miss because he puts his fingers in his ears while singing "Nanana, I can't heeeaaaar you..."General Schatten wrote:So would RSA have infinite lives or an impenetrable shield?
Nintendo wants developers and the Wii is a considerably easier platform to develop on, so that keeps costs down. It's just a single-core PowerPC + GPU, which isn't too fancy. The Xbox 360 is harder with its triple-core architecture and the PS3 is a nightmare with its design.SirNitram wrote:So true. Yet the Wii's dev kit is apparently a few hundred bucks.
Which disturbs me. Why?
Yeah, but we don't really have the skillset here to really make a game right.Because it means SDNet could conceivably whip around a collection for such. And that would go no-where the ratings system would like.
