flamewars for the Wii.....

Hey a 2d fighter like Jump Superstars would be pretty easy to knock up, and who doesn't want to activate the Stark 'that's shit...' dismissal attack or the Aeris '..and there were OVER NINE THOUSAND' support move? :D

It'd be awesome. We could use parting shots for villians, and come up with some kind of suicidal 'Viagra adverts appear to save lives' attack for them or something.

Now I can't get that concept out of my head. There's even established tiers of characters, known bosses, all the stuff you need for a Smash Bros-esque game. Using the Jump Superstars 'touch board' system would just be even more awesome: 'I'll take the 2-koma Red 'your mom' finisher...', 'oh no, the twinky messiah, what's strong against laughter?'... :)

Is there really a market for a SSB-type game with nothing but internet meme special attacks? :wtf:

Er, there's a HUGE market for SSB-style games with nothing but manga meme special attacks. You make the call. :)

I disapprove of this solely for the reason I would be nowhere in it!

I'd rather see it arranged more like a RTS of sorts, or a Super Robot Wars game. I don't think a game like Smash or Jump can successfully replicate the finisher move "Shep Solution" the way a big animated cutscene might. It also gives other people the chance to appear within the game via fodder characters chosen from a list of names.

Also, since this is the Wii we're talking about, it should be something that uses the controller. I'm hoping Lucasarts jumps on the Captain Obvious bandwagon and makes a damn Lightsaber game.

Ah, but not only does that format have actual costs (instead of free simple animation and simple scripting), but it'd be awesome if you took Shep as a support character and spammed out nuclear annihilation. :) And you would too be in it: if we include the Twinkie messiah we'll be throwing the net pretty wide!

A lightsabre game would be awesome, but if it's made by Lucasarts it'd suck. KOTOR and LEGO SW are notable for being made by people with a clue. :D

I've read that the dev kit for the Wii is around 2000, while the PS3 kit is in the tens of thousands. And there's been rumors of a SW light saber game in the works for the Wii.

Happened, this may.

GTA IV will come out at the same time for the Xbrick360 and the PS3. The draw will be that each console gets its own net addons.

Because it's not worth it trying to make the game work on Sony's fucked up and retarded memory management system....life's much simpler on the 360.
Seconded, I suppose code monkeys here could talk for hours about the pain of Sony dev kits if they've seen them.

So would RSA have infinite lives or an impenetrable shield?

and that ability to copy someones attacks, but for a 50% longer duration/animation, and they do 1/100th of the damage....

One of RSA's moves will be "fingers in ears", where all attacks automatically miss because he puts his fingers in his ears while singing "Nanana, I can't heeeaaaar you..."

RSA's main attack would be "Furiously Masturbate" and since this is the Wii we're developing for you could trigger it by moving the wiimote in the wanking motion.

You know how the best [and worst] ideas hit you in the shower?

Well, for some reason, I just had the vision of Mr. Game and Watch's Forward + B Lottery Hammer to the tune of random Kaz Hurai and other Sony E3 comments.

Ah, but the attacks do hit, he just doesn't realise it. But of course, his most devastating move would be the "Super Darkstar Rhetoric lv2", which puts everyone else to sleep. I'd imagine Jake99 would have a "Volcano Smash" or something, which causes severe confusion.

Of course, Wong and Dalton et. al. would need a move called "Ban Hammer"...

Ah... I can see my future somehow involving a rarely appearing and ultimately not very well-known item.

SirNitram wrote:So true. Yet the Wii's dev kit is apparently a few hundred bucks.

Which disturbs me. Why?
Nintendo wants developers and the Wii is a considerably easier platform to develop on, so that keeps costs down. It's just a single-core PowerPC + GPU, which isn't too fancy. The Xbox 360 is harder with its triple-core architecture and the PS3 is a nightmare with its design.
Because it means SDNet could conceivably whip around a collection for such. And that would go no-where the ratings system would like.
Yeah, but we don't really have the skillset here to really make a game right.
