are trained from birth, but they're still general infantry.
Shouldn't this be "Stormtroopers vs" US Army infantry" or "ARC Troopers vs US Army Special Forces" or something?

Well, that depends on what sort of sensors the stormies have in their helmets. As was stated earlier, they might render camouflage moot.
Well it didn't help them much against the Ewoks in ROTJ. They were practically caught flatfooted initially. It was a surprise they could actually be surprised. Though the Ewoks were on the run eventually, due to inferior tech.

Haven't we been over this already? YES, there were tons of Ewoks around. And there likely HAD been tons of Ewoks around for
months. Doing NOTHING OF CONSEQUENCE at least as far as the Imps were concerned.
Which ignores Endor being a jungle thus there being a fuckload of IR/lifesign/whatever signal background 24/7.
Oh and the Ewoks weren't routed
eventually. They were curbstomped practically from the word GO until Chewie got hold of the AT-ST.

It should have struck anyone as unusual to have tonnes of ewoks around. After all, the Ewoks typically at most sent scouts or small raiding parties there and largely stayed away.
It brings back to the original argument that superior electronics would have saved the Imps. It would have not.

Oh, yes, the Imps are so incompetent because they did not realize that the Ewoks, who they had coexisted peacefully with for months, at least, were a threat. Especially when they were, at the moment of the ambush, dealing with a group of Rebel commandos. Honestly, all the ambush did was give the Rebels time to accomplish their mission, the Ewoks themselves barely did anything.

The Imps had no reason to think the Ewoks were a threat. They had coexisted peacefully for months. And, besides, don't you think the Imps were more concerned with the group of Rebel commandos they had just caught trying to blow up their shield generator?

I would actually tend to think that a professional paintball team could give either opponents a run for their money (if they were on a professional paint-ball course, that is). I mean, let's face it, firing a paintball gun is a hell of a lot different than firing a real gun. The shots aren't always straight, they go slower, and they have an arc that can take a few moments to get used to (a few moments that can cost you).

Didn't they mention some odd shit in the trees or something interfering with Artoo's sensors? That would presumably have affected the stormtroopers too.
Or did I just imagine that?
