I'm tempted to join, but dunno if I have the time.
Though as Nit pointed out, the power of Science⢠is always moving on.

I'm also interested and my free time is a bit short. Maybe we could, with GM approval, co-rule a country?

The Alliance of United Kingdoms is back at last. I should probably get to work on flag.

For anyone who wishes to play but isn't sure they can commit to a full time nation. The Following NPC options are avaliable:
Sultanate of Siam
Nippon
China
Hindostan
The Khaliphat
A note, these will be powerful nation capable of easily Crushing any of the young upstarts. Bare in mind, for those wishing to play these rolls, you won't be playing for domination or power, but as a reactionary roll. If someone approches your borders, makes threats, or perhaps becomes too strong. "Playing an NPC will actually take just as much care as playing one of the main nations, but you will not need to spend as much time on it.
Keep all of this in mind before responding. Also, please do a bit of research into Any nation you wish to NPC. Know a bit about the history of the people and land.

I have reservations about allowing people to handle the powerful NPCs, the game was not built to work like that.
Also, I'd note that Siam and Hindostan did not seem to be anyway near as powerful as the other three. Indeed, I'd say the presence of player nations on their borders without any large natural barriers protecting said players suggests that both Siam and Hindostan are only a bit more powerful than us players.

Point well taken... Though I would like some help in the sense of working on some of the other aspects. I would still like to play the game, so I'll be doing two htings at once... And I know there people who may not have time for a full time nation, but might still wish to play, suggestions?

Any spots left open for a reprobate like yours truly?

Yes. You can play Diego Garcia.

Could you like, play this time? Please? I've been hearing
so much about you and I'd really like to see it. I'd especially like to see it if someone finally brings you to your knees.
And since you're showing interest, perhaps you could talk to Crossroads about what exactly you had in mind about this game and the mechanics.

Question? Why is the Kaliphate still in power in Eastern Africa at the time. Didn't the Brits have control of Africa yet. Sugestion. Could I have my chracter have control of the Eastern African section of the Caliphate, sort of be an envoy to the other East African nations. Barring that, if I could be a character, I would like to have the area that is now somilia and Ethiopa under my control if I could play the game as such.

The power of Europe is basically gone, the great war started 50-odd years earlier and devastated the continent.
IIRC, we will also get no reinforcement from any mothercountries, and not that we'd want to - they might want to reestablish control over their now comparatively wealthy colonies
I think we should start new threads for OOB etc, otherwise we will get confused by postings of old and new players or changes made. Comments ?

I was reading through the old 25 page thread and noticed calls for Maldives to have more land. Could we add an island or two around the main one as well as get detailed maps so I can start poking around?

I suggest you make-up your own landmass. Just grab a map and draw a big island. Like so:
You can also hurry up and claim those islands which in modern times belong to India, but are unclaimed in this game.
I can help you with the map if you have trouble finding one of satisfactory quality. Actually, ask Crossroads, he loves that stuff.

Whoa whoa whoa!
No making up landmasses, that only happend to a small degree in the last game and only a handful of islands. We can't have people making thier own island continants all willy nilly!
I would recomend that if someone wishes to play the Maldives, they play them AS a tiny island chain... Sure it may not become a super power on its own right, but a good Roleplayer could do much with just a little.
Next point. I will make a new OOB Thread, However, New comers should make a note in your post vs people who where in it the first time around. For those that where in it the first time around, keep as much of your original stuff as posisble, Fluff can be changed as you wish, but any major changes, please PM to me.
As for Thirdfain.
Well, He's welcome to join up, if he'll be active.

What's wrong with making new landmasses? As long as Rawtooth's nation is balanced with everyone else's, the fact that the nation doesn't exist in real life doesn't matter. Nitram is playing with giant ether cannons; we're not exactly striving for realism here, just fun.
Are we keeping the trade deals we already made, since there are so many new people joining?
And welcome back Thirdfain. I was worried I'd be sharing a subcontinent with Hindoostan alone.

It's specifically for the Maldives. The thing is that the last game they got as many resources and points as the larger nations. Which quite frankly makes absolutely no sense and gives them an unfair defensive advantage, as I pointed out.
The Maldives will only fairly work as a nation with either extra land or with very few resources and a very small navy.

Point taken... I'll get out my old Map Making system and craft something 'fair' for the area and more representaive of the genorus resources it got.

The Dominion of The Greater East Indus is ready. What happens when natives in two parallel colonies rebel and slaughter most of the white men, with the remaining few setting themselves up as demi-Gods of a Technocracy, plus shipwrecked Dutch pirates? Fun. Controls Indo-China.
Edit: Hmm. If anyone wants something larger than a tiny made-up island, take Vietnam, Cambodia, or wherever. After more thinking I realize I can transplant my colony to a tiny island both preserving and improving my original idea. If there are no takers I'll keep my nice big jungle-land, but I have plans - scary plans - on what I can do with tiny islands. (Hint: Dr. Moreau!)

Transplant it to what tiny island? There are none in the area. Just take Vietnam, it has pretty good resources.

So, how far b ack is the restart going? Are we going to shuffle the locations of powers? Resources? In other words, is my old OOB gonna be worth jack?

I believe it's restart to just before the diplomacy thread started. Powers only change if someone's left. Resources stay the same.

It would be nice if you try to keep sings a bit historical. Keep in mind the
setting and work from there. Also, a tiny island would necessarily have a tiny everything else. I'd just stick with Vietnam.

My gut is telling me that amalgamating different concepts into one idea is deeply lame. Whatever shall I do!
